@MrCarlos46 No idea on what new Mario will be, but I assume it will have a somewhat new art style and the gameplay won't just be Odyssey 2. I assume Nintendo has been stressing out making sure their main launch day game (3D Mario seems like the best guess) is amazing. So I am optimistic, but I'm also hoping it is creative and unpredictable.
@skywake Has any Nintendo console released in June?
If you go through the history of platform releases pretty much every month is covered. IIRC N64 was a June launch in Japan
Honestly I'm not entirely sure how they're going to square a 2025 announcement with mass production having already started. June just feels like the month that makes the most sense with a January/February announcement and hardware already being in production. If it's later then they've started production way early. If it's earlier then I don't know why they haven't announced it already
Rumours of this new machine been flying round for 12 months now. The technology being used is ps4 levels maybe slightly better if they leave the release much longer the console will be outdated before it's even launched. Look at previous switch its been struggling with aaa games for several years hence why no massive 3rd party releases are on it
@Lifesabeach88
Yeah, I don't know about that. I know I make noises on here about how the Switch is behind the curve and Nintendo kinda need new hardware. So I get where you're coming from..... but there's diminishing returns to be had with higher specs
On a TV? Certainly Switch 2 is going to launch behind the curve. Not as much as recent Nintendo consoles but still behind. But as a portable? I don't know. I kinda feel like at 1080p, 60fps and on a sub 10" screen we've well and truly hit a plateau. Not with Switch to be clear. But with this PS4 Pro to Series S class of hardware that Switch 2 is going to land within? I honestly don't see why you'd even want more power
I don't think we're quite there yet on the full TV console side. Even with the PS5 Pro tier stuff that exists. It's very close but it's not quite there. But the portables? They're already there. Easily. All extra power and efficiency beyond Switch 2 is going to give us is lower development costs and longer battery life
@Lifesabeach88 It also means it's cheaper. They need to replicate Switch's price point too (granted, higher these days because economics, but relatively similar.)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@Lifesabeach88 I don't know where these PS4 level claims keep coming from. The spec info that people have been going off as of late would put it far closer to an Xbox series s, if not higher. The spec info I believe came from the same place as the leaked images, but also was discovered through shipping info or something like that.
Everyone is excited to see what next gen Nintendo looks like. The console just needs to get the odd third party to keep it going and I'm sure it will cope

I hope they announce it soon…I wake up every day hoping for news on Switch 2..
Today was the last best day. Nintendo Financial meeting next week and then Mario and Luigi and then holiday season. Unless Nintendo really surprises people, it's looking like 2025.
Today was also the day they announced the Nintendo Music app for Nintendo Switch Online members. Maybe making some last few major announcements for the year before they start announcements for the Switch 2
I was thinking about this a week or two ago, and am (obviously) doing so again. I think I'm close to landing on the theory that they'll reveal in February/March, with a release in August/September or so. That gives enough time for production, hype, and enough time to get their ducks in a row for the big ticket IP. Here's my submission, for now:
Febuary-March: Announcement, tentative release date, nothing on games yet.
Late Spring/Summer '25: Games start being announced and roll out. I can see 3D Mario first, with Mario Kart not far behind. Maybe Animal Crossing in time for the holidays if we're lucky.
Maybe that's a cold take, but figured I'd get my ticket in.
For me personally there's only one way this lack of any announcement this year impacts me. I was probably going to pick up a Steam Deck now it's officially available in Australia anyways. But the lack of an announcement just means I'm more comfortable picking it up. It has made that choice MUCH easier
If we knew for certain it was releasing in H1 and had a known month and some killer exclusives? I'd probably reconsider the Deck. If it was already out I'd get it rather than the Deck. But the fact that a quiet launch or a late 2025 launch is still possible? I want an upgrade from the Switch, Deck is it
Basically, people keep going on about holiday sales. But for me if I knew where Nintendo was going? I'd probably happily buy M&L Brothership or something as a hold of untill March or whenever. As it stands, it's unclear when it's launching I think Steam Deck is probably the way to go. And as such any money I might have spent on Switch will be instead getting games on Steam, like HiFi Rush or something
Will other people be doing the same? Maybe not at scale. But I could see some people picking up a PS5 or something given the future of Switch is still unclear
Probably not just holiday sales. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that the Switch still has some games coming out this year and next year (Mario and Luigi: Brothership comes out next week)
