@FragRed Sony did do the Playstation Hits line for the PS4 in 2018 and 2019 but the final batch happened in September 2019. If they continued beyond then, Playstation Hits would've clashed with the $70 PS5 remaster strategy.

@FishyS And then also with their Hits for the Holidays Sale (or Nintendo Holiday Sale as it’s called in Europe and Australia) at Christmas time.

@FishyS crazy to think they're still offering the same 33% discounts on 7/8 year old games. I'd pay 20-30 for arms, 20 for captain toad, 20 for daemon x machina, etc..

Here are many ways the Switch 2 Joy-Con optical sensor could work:

1. Mouse capabilities
2. IR pointing for if they even bring Wii to NSO
3. Proximity sensor to detect when the Joy-Cons are attached

I hope the "C" button really is a cast-to-TV button. That would be so call, and it would open dual-screen possibilities again without making it something physical and mandatory.

I also hope all development resources are being put into NEW games for the Switch 2, not into upgrading the same game from last generation. We already know this thing will play most Switch games, which is wonderful, so just rest easy with that and let's move on to the new experiences.

I'll be brutally honest: I think Nintendo is done for good when it comes to any 2nd screen features.

I think the "C" button will be Chat like how on the Dualsense there's a button between the 2 sticks that acts to mute/unmute the microphone.

For a cast to TV of any kind to work they'd need some kind of high speed wireless link between Switch 2 and Dock. Because for it to be a TV app you'd need to lean on the TVs network connectivity and also port to various TV OS.

But there's no evidence of any hardware like that in the dock. And I imagine if this was a feature they would've called it out in the trailer and/or it would've been leaked by now given the amount of other stuff that has come out

Also I've been going through a bunch of older Mario Kart games via emulation on Steam Deck and Switch since the announcement. Just because. One of the main reasons people cite for this streaming feature is DS games and.... 3DS/DS are pretty decent on a screen the size of the Steam Deck. I'm sure they'll run fine on Switch 2 if they ever come to NSO

To be clear I'm not saying I think streaming games won't happen. I'm definitely not saying it can't happen. But I don't think there's the hardware in the box for it and I don't think it would be as bit a deal as some claim. I think if it happens it'll be an OS feature that you can use between two Switch devices (Switch 2 to a Switch Lite on the go or something)

The dock would need some kind of wireless receiver for casting to work. The issue is, no such wireless receiver technology in the dock has been found in any of the Switch 2 shipment leaks. The Switch 2 dock is basically a larger version of the Switch 1 dock, with some additional cooling (via a built-in fan).

I think with the Switch 2 and its hopefully more robust UI experience, it might be the time we finally see Nintendo embracing achievements on a system-wide level.

I wonder what happens now to Metroid Prime 4 and the new Pokemon legends. I guess Metroid could be a dual release, while Pokemon might be exclusive to Switch 2.

IceClimbers

@Henmii The most likely scenario is that Prime 4 is crossgen, and Legends ZA is only on Switch 1 (though playable on Switch 2 because of BC).

@IceClimbers I would've actually guessed the opposite, with "Ounce" being in Z-As files and all.
Though for all we know, that could be in MP4's as well

Could the C button be some sort of 'config' button. Press it and you can alter options such as disabling dlss or what have you. Maybe to save battery etc.

One thing to possibly think about with the C button is that the "C" may have nothing to do with any English word beginning with c. The button labels on the origank Switch were the same across all regions and only the L and R labels have any English meaning.

Buttons with a dedicated purpose have an icon to describe their purpose (a house for the home button and a camera lens for the screenshot)

My eyes aren't what they used to be, but to me it looks like there is a tunnel going into that huge mushroom mountain at the end of that very long stretch of road in the Mario Kart teaser. (I'm always wrong.)

We don't technically know the C button is a C button since it wasn't in the trailer.

That said, C is the cat button — press it and a cat walks into the middle of the screen and meows once and then leaves.

I think there will definitely be a bunch of Switch 2 games that mandate the use of DLSS in order to look/run properly, so I dont think you can just let the users "turn off" DLSS like that. I also don't think a dedicated configuration button is needed for such a feature even if it did exist.

What had allegedly been leaked is that the C button is related to a community/chat feature where NSO subscribers can form groups to communicate and play with each other. I no idea how legitimate this leak is, but IMO it makes more sense than the C button being for TV casting or configuring basic settings.
