What had allegedly been leaked is that the C button is related to a community/chat feature where NSO subscribers can form groups to communicate and play with each other. I no idea how legitimate this leak is, but IMO it makes more sense than the C button being for TV casting or configuring basic settings.
I think they plan on calling it “Campus” based on that leak.
Hoping it could have also been for a new social media service like VidMiio as a successor to Miiverse, especially since Nintendo no longer allows us to post directly to Twitter.
@westman98
Yea, you're probably right. It's a bummer. I'm playing World Ends With You right now on Switch, and it's... yea. lol
@MrCarlos46
I guess so, right? However they do it with phones, basically.
It really would be such a cool feature, though, even if it's pretty tame. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on Wii U were cool with having your inventory always in front of you on the gamepad, and the main action on the TV. Nothing crazy, just neat.
@MrCarlos46 I'm not sure about that to be honest, Nintendo creating their own social media platform for Switch 2 would explain why they haven't created Bluesky accounts yet. With the state twitter has been in especially over the past few months, Nintendo creating Bluesky accounts and having Bluesky be their main source of social media presence felt like the obvious next step.
@Grumblevolcano To be fair, neither PlayStation or Xbox really do much with their Bluesky accounts. Big business is notoriously slow at adapting to such changes.

Whether we like it or not, twitter has well over 20x the reach as Bluesky. Rejecting twitter would hurt their sales pretty bad, particularly going into Switch 2 era. Considering this is a company whose main goal is to get money, there's no way they're doing that to themselves.
It's nearly impossible to migrate most people off a social platform (especially when it comes to an insanely popular one like twitter). I heard that facebook and another social media were adapting changes like twitter, so at this point it'll be hard to avoid that style of social media (most people don't seem to mind it though) (also this is coming from someone that doesn't have social media, and I mainly just see posts from Nintendo Life articles or NoA.)
I was thinking of the eShop card design and how it would change within almost every generation. The first design came with the 3DS and got used for the Wii U. They updated it again for the Switch (with a small update in 2023 to remove any mentions of the 3DS and Wii U due to their eShops closing).
Will we likely see another design change to go in with Switch 2 or is the current design gonna add the Switch 2 logo in the back?
The Xbox Developer Direct wrapped up and had PS5 listed in the event multiple times but no Switch 2 so we can now safely assume that any Switch 2 3rd party announcements are being saved for the April 2nd Switch 2 Direct at the earliest.
@Grumblevolcano Either Xbox wanted to surprise us or Nintendo ordered Xbox to wait until after the Switch 2 Direct before they could start showing off games for Switch 2.
Yeah it was obvious that the reveal trailer was NOT when the "floodgates" would open for 3rd party announcements (contrary to common speculation and what Nate the Hate and Jason Schreier said), and that you won't really see anything until the April Direct.
At best you'll get general talks of support, but no specific game announcements
Nintendo probably went to game developers like “Just because we already revealed the system doesn’t mean you can start showing off games for it right away. That will have to wait until after we upload our Switch 2 Direct.”
@Ulysses We’re probably not gonna see Nintendo do anything related to Bluesky for a few more years, but it doesn’t mean they’ll consider adding Twitter integration again.
With the whole Vidmiio thing being false, we’ll probably never see Nintendo make their own social media service again.
I also would enjoy a return to Nintendo's own social platform directly integrated within the Switch 2 system, however... I just don't think it's very realistic.
Part of why we may never see Nintendo make another social media service could be due to the Swapnote incident.
The most we’ll ever get at this point would be Campus if that rumor is even true unlike Vidmiio.
Furthermore, Western communities may attempt to shun the platform, but Japan still loves it. One look at Nintendo's Japanese Twitter is all the evidence you need; Nintendo's Japanese Youtube is sitting at 7.2 million views for the Switch 2 reveal, but the same video on their X account has 54 million.
I wouldn't use view counts as a metric here. It's well known that social media sites count you loading your feed and having a video in it as you scroll past as a view. While a view on YouTube requires you to physically click on the link and open the video

I'll be brutally honest: I think Nintendo is done for good when it comes to any 2nd screen features.
That dual-screen patent Nintendo signed in 2022 or 2023 could probably be for a potential dual-screen attachment that connects with the top USB-C cable.
