@OctolingKing13 The console is made to be constantly on in sleep mode. That’s why there’s no button since Nintendo expects you to leave it in sleep mode and press Home on the controller.

@VoidofLight@FishyS yeah i guess im just in the habit of turning it off manually haha 😅 i thought it drained battery or there was some harm to it. just my lazy dream 😛

I feel like people spend far too much time creating drama over things that don't impact them at all. So Wonder needs an update to run on Switch 2? Interesting. Download the update. Problem solved
"But what about if you have no internet?" Do you have no internet? You're on here so I presume not. So it's not an issue. "But what about when the servers shut down?" Are the servers shut down? No? Then it's not a problem. Find something else to expend your energy on
@Bentleyma
Yeah, I remember when the Wii U launched being blown away by the fact that I could play Assassin's Creed on what was essentially a portable device. I also looked envious at the NVidia Shield for in-home streaming before the Wii U for the same reason. It always annoyed me how nobody seemed to be as amazed as I was by "console games on a portable"
@skywake, I do have internet, but I've slowly become more and more scared of some aspects of online things over the past few months:
That Virtual Game Cards update I mentioned earlier, as cool as it is, was a format change that happened overnight without my consent, and that's honestly kind of freaky. I absolutely hate it when companies change stuff like layouts all of a sudden (I know that Nintendo announced it one month beforehand, but still) because the new way is often more complicated when it doesn't need to be.
The constant updating of terms and conditions and stuff like that cannot be ignored, which means I have to use precious time to answer them, often without warning.
It's become apparent that all companies who sell media digitally don't want me to actually own it, though I like being in control of all my purchased stuff.
Censorship too. For example, the liberal social media censorship of the early 2020s.
No, I'm not an old coot who hates technology, it's just that some aspects of online are starting to bug me a lot. Perhaps because I have ADHD and am slightly autistic? I'm not entirely sure.
With the Switch 2, some of Nintendo's recent decisions, especially involving internet, have been either annoying or just plain stupid.

To be fair , real life is like that too - laws change. Even basic human rights can be removed or added. At least we know Nintendo will try to keep things enjoyable and consistent enough that they don't lose too much profit/customers.
The changing to virtual game cards was an interesting one. They could have just basically stopped supporting Switch 1; instead they made a few minor changes to make it really consistent with Switch 2 and easy to go back and forth. If and when you buy a Switch 2 you will definitely appreciate how smooth the upgrade is.

That doesn't mean I have to just go with the flow and blindly accept everything though. This decade in general has just been an absolute mess so far, but that discussion can be saved for another time.

I suppose that's something, at least 😃.

You're paying for media at the end of the day. What does it matter if I'm paying 10c to play a song in a Jukebox, $30 to buy an album with 10 tracks on it I'll probably play 30 times or $14/month to get unlimited access to musics some of which I'll use to listen to this album. There are different economic scales and models to these things and we can get into debates about what model was fairest for artists and so forth. But fundamentally the transaction is the same. I put money into the box, music comes out
It's the same thing with games. I buy Nintendo's bundle of sand and plastic, I buy Sony's or Valves, I assemble myself a collection of sand and plastic. I then go to some dispensary of software whether that's digital or retail or a subscription. I get a licence to run that software through a disc, key card, code, account, whatever. I then press go and when I push buttons or move or whatever the sounds and images change. That's all this is. Everything else is just the mechanisms to make that happen
And, frankly, I find all the drama around it people have been whipping up just tiring. It's just white noise. It really doesn't matter. I mean, are they stopping you from buying the game and playing the game? No? Then nothing is different. Simple as that. Again, if you have particularly slow internet or were in the position where downloading the game was an issue? Sure. I get it. I truly do. But if you're not in that position? I truly don't understand what the complaint is
.......... unless you're concerned about the value of your collection. In which case I have zero sympathy
"And, frankly, I find all the drama around it people have been whipping up just tiring."
Understandable, I'm not the greatest fan of it either. If I ever get to the point where I can't handle something like that, I'll just take a break from the internet for a while if necessary. And over the years I've noticed that some people simply complain about something because complaining about it is popular. Right now, it's popular to hate on the Switch 2. That's not the reason that I bring up some aspects of it though. I talk about (in as nice a way as possible) some things about the Switch 2 that I don't like because I honestly don't like those things. Overall, what I've seen of the Switch 2 is mostly really cool. There are just a few not as cool things about it that are keeping me undecided on whether I'm getting one or not in the future. It's probably going to take me a lot longer to actually decide 🤣.

I personally like the Virtual Game Cards. There are some slightly clunky limitations like the two week lending window and two console limit I wouldn't mind if they extended just a tad. Three and three and I wouldn't have any complaints on the limits. But other than that I think it's a LOT better than the old method
The old method you'd set one console as a primary and then could have as many secondary systems as you wanted. But in order to play a game on the secondary system it did a little online check. Which, kinda sucked, I almost got a Switch Lite at one point but decided against it because being the more portable console it'd be offline a lot. So it'd kinda want to be the primary. Which just felt wrong. But also if I did that then my docked Switch would just always be needing little DRM checks before starting games. Ugh
At least with the Virtual Game Cards I can go, this game is one for the TV so I want it on my Switch 2. This one is a smaller and less demanding game I might want to play on the OLED so it stays there. For example I moved stuff like the Zelda games, 3D World, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors over to the Switch 2. The big ones, the ones with updates, the ones that could do with more power. But stuff like Pocket Rumble, Super Meat Boy, the Bit Trip games, Howl, Gris, Axiom Verge etc are still on my OLED. And they're just.... on there.... offline or not... it's better
It's a similar deal with lending to family. Obviously, game card is king in that regard (even the key cards still win here) where you can just lend the physical licence. But lending a virtual game to a family member is quite a bit nicer than putting my account on their console and then asking them to use my save. For obvious reasons
There are obviously much lighter DRM schemes out there. Clearly. Steam is particularly good in this regard. But I do think that the Virtual Game Cards are a solid step in the right direction. Even if it kills that one multiplayer exploit people found for the old system. It's better. I don't see reason to complain about progress. Perfection is the enemy of progress
and in any case, for people who liked the way it was there's an option to opt-out and use the old method. So there's no downside
@rallydefault, could you explain? Not trying to start an argument, I'm just curious.

I just swapped whether my lite or OG Switch was primary many many times. It required pressing a button and then typing my password in once or twice but it was still a very fast process.
Virtual game cards are easier if you want to just pass a few games over but kind of annoying if you don't want to decide what games you're going to play and want to pass over tons of games. That is a niche concern and not really important, just a little different.
The only power we actually lost was playing an online game on two devices at once. Which was nice for family play sometimes so a little sad to lose that ability. The 'opt out' isn't actually opting out, it's more of a hybrid where you can play games on 2 consoles offline but not online.
That said, I feel like Nintendo was patching loopholes more than anything so I can't really complain about it and the new virtual game card system is definitely super slick feeling and easy to use and, as you said, has other neat benefits like lending.
Edit: Save file management works a billion times better if you use the virtual game card method. That was a bit of a nightmare in the old method.
@ShieldHero
As a fellow contrarian, we are people who sometimes enjoy taking an opposite stance simply because it is the opposite and not because it makes any kind of logical sense.
For example, I am indeed one of the “only physical” people, but I can admit that in practicality in 99% of use cases, physical or digital makes absolutely zero difference. Many times physical costs more, especially in the beginning of a game’s life, needs to be kept track of and switched out all the time, can arguably be more easily lost or destroyed, etc. But I still like it.
Anyway, I don’t know what I’m responding to anymore lol
apparently fall guys got a 60fps on switch 2update. i have not played it in ages, but i might jump into a couple rounds. it was a very laggy game on switch 1 so maybe itll be better 😅 plenty of online fun tho

Yeah, I downloaded it years ago on the Switch to try it out and then just instantly deleted it because it ran so bad. Didn't think enough of it to give it another spin, probably still won't, but it's certainly one of those standout "we need newer hardware so this doesn't happen" games from the Switch era
Good to see it got an update

@OctolingKing13 Recent update? I played Fall Guys the day after I got my Switch 2 to test it and didn't notice any difference. Also, the lag on that game is on all devices... I think that is more an issue of Internet than fps.
I gotta be honest, I've been hating on Drag X Drive pretty heavily, but that overview trailer didn't look terrible. I still think there's some issues. Like this is a game begging for some wacky court options, but it seems to only have the one. I also think it's a tad overpriced for what it is, 10 or 15 would be more reasonable. But yeah, I could maybe see myself picking this up if I'm bored in August.
