I recently registered for an invite to get the Switch 2 from the My Nintendo Store on Saturday, any word on when I will receive it?

@PLATINUM7 The resolution looks rough in handheld mode. Everything is pretty fuzzy to the point where it has outlines around it.

Also, it's hardly noticeable (until you first begin to see it, and then you can never unsee it), but if you look at the left of Link on the Great Sky Island you can pretty much see how there's a line that cuts off the high quality shadow rendering from the low quality shadow rendering. It's jarring and breaks immersion heavily for me- to the point where I can't even enjoy playing this game on Switch 2.

I just came out of it in handheld. It's slightly fuzzier, perhaps comparable to Switch 1 TotK docked. I stop noticing after a couple of seconds.

Still no idea what you mean with the shadow thing. If it is there, hopefully I never see it.

It is kind of interesting that the Tears upgrade patch is only 3 gigs but the BotW patch is 10 gigs.

@PLATINUM7 It's really noticeable to me. One of the first things I noticed when I got out to the Great Sky Island.

@rallydefault I didn't know that the upgrade patch for tears was smaller than the BotW one. You could chalk it up to it being more recent, so less work needed to be done on the game- but it also feels like it's incomplete with Nintendo failing to take things like the shadow resolution into account like this. I'm hoping for a patch- but given Nintendo already got their money from tons of people and only a few are speaking out about this, I don't think we're going to get a patch.

I just hopped in to play a few hours of it, and I didn't notice the shadow thing you're talking about, but there are definitely moments of stutter in the upgraded Tears that I didn't notice in the upgraded BotW. Again, it's definitely a more complicated game, and it was only for a moment or so maybe a few times in 3ish hours.

Overall, my thoughts on the Tears and BotW upgrades are (assuming you've already played the games): If you are an Expansion Pass member and have unfinished business in those games, it's really awesome to go back and do some stuff. They really are beautiful games in all ways, and hey, it's "free" to take a look around, so just go for it.

If you're not a member and need to pay the 10 bucks, it's... worth it only if you know for certain you're going to actually play the game and see it through for whatever your purpose is. And if you're a completionist, the Zelda Notes app is pretty cool, actually, and it'll help you without feeling like you're scumming from the internet lol

So about these micro SD express cards, why can't i find any 1 TB ones on Amazon or anywhere else for that matter? I found a 256 and that's about it.

Where do you get yours?

Truegamer79

WoomyNNYes

@Truegamer79 So far, Lexar and Gamestop brands are the only 1tb express options. Lexar official posted last week that new stock is coming in july (later than people expected, possibly tariff related delay). So far, Amazon has been the only place to find Lexar Express. I don't know anything about gamestop's cards or supply.

(regions outside of north america, may have their own particular brand, but I'm don't know their options)

For 512gb express microSD brands, there's Lexar, Gamestop, onn (walmart's brand). We don't know who's making the cards for gamestop & onn.

I got extremely lucky, and snagged an order for lexar 512gb on amazon june 3, and the listing sold out in less than five minutes after I bought one. I wanted a 1tb, but never saw them available. My 512gb card is supposed to arrive on the 18th. We'll see.

I was able to pick up 2, 256GB Onn cards - stalked Walmart until I found it available in a local store. Doubling the memory allows me to include some SW1 games that I've been working through/wanting to check out. It's enough for now, but will 100% be picking up a 1TB+ card when they become more affordable.

If you are looking for a memory card - I've found it best to look at local stores vs shopping online. Far less competition. But it only works if you have a store close by...

Okay I'll probably just stick with the 256 gig one from amazon. I'll keep gamestop in mind for later but currently 100 dollars for 512 gigs is a little high if you ask me.

@OctolingKing13 Likely scenario is that Nintendo just doesn’t send the remaining invites and instead opens ordering to everyone straight away, although that second part probably won’t be happening until the end of the year.

@rallydefault Are you playing in handheld mode? Since it is extremely noticeable on the Switch 2's actual screen. It was again, to a point where I genuinely couldn't enjoy the game because I kept seeing this line that looked like a screen tear whenever I moved my camera.

@VoidofLight
I was doing tv earlier, but handheld the last hour or so. Definitely looks markedly worse handheld.

I've decided to just play Switch 2 games and Switch games that have been specifically updated to take advantage of Switch 2. I was originally going to play my Switch backlog, but I couldn't decide what to play and figured it would be easier to just play my older games if and when they get a current gen update.

My next Switch 2 game after Mario Kart World will be Yakuza 0. Really looking forward to playing through it again with the English dub.

Recently tried Fortnite on Switch 2 to give the mouse controls a go and I actually really liked them. I've always liked mouse aiming, but I could just never do keyboard movement. But yeah, the Joycon ended up being way more comfortable in mouse mode than I expected. For once, having small hands helps, hooray! But yeah, it's honestly probably one of the better ports to the system in terms of optimization and control options. I'd check it out, especially with its more manageable download size of around 35 GB.

The other game I want to share my experience with is Hitman World of Assassination, which just really frustrates me. I love this game, it's genuinely a top 3 game of all time for me. But this version is just not good. Performance is really choppy and downright awful in some instances, crashes are a thing that happens, and it's missing the option for gyro aiming, which is really disappointing. It is much better in handheld mode though, thanks to VRR helping smooth the uneven frame rate. But yeah, a pretty lackluster port of an excellent game. I will say one thing to the games benefit however: it does include a lot of content. Even some stuff that I think was locked behind DLC in other versions is included with this version at just the 60$ price point. Hopefully they patch it at some point though, because all the issues could be fixed easily. Just add a 40 fps cap or something and that fixes a lot right there.

Something worth noting, I'm sure it has been said elsewhere but given I didn't pay much attention I'm sure others also skipped it. If you have a modern TV make sure you have HLG enabled, should be somewhere under picture/dynamic range. Then go through and recalibrate HDR

I was digging around last night in the settings on my LG OLED and noticed it wasn't set by default. After enabling it? Night and day. Significant improvement in both Mario Kart and Fast Fusion. Fast Fusion in particular the sun when it peeks through the track/cloud is now actually perceivably bright

I was a bit disappointed with how HDR was looking on Switch 2. Now I'm pretty damn happy with it. So check to make sure you have that setting enabled

What are some decently priced recommendations for micro sd express cards?

NintendoByNature

FishyS

@NintendoByNature The Onn cards at Walmart are 65 dollars for 512gb/35 for 256gb. I don't think anywhere has affordable 1 TB cards yet

I'm very surprised at how great CyberPunk looks and plays. As a Switch only gamer, the graphics are beyond what I expected to see on the system. Very exciting, because we're in the very early days - devs are going to be able to put out some incredible games for the SW2. And DK - looking sooooooooooo good.
