Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter does look awesome (I'm a massive fan of turn-based JRPGs, btw). Sadly, I can't get into it yet because I don't have time and money for it at the moment, especially since I'm specifically saving money for a Switch 2 at the moment. Maybe I could try the demo though, if I can find some time for it.

@JaxonH I completely agree with you, when I first started playing Falcom games in 2022 with Trails Cold Steel 3/4, I really enjoyed the stories of those games, however they did come with performance issues through, I remember cold steel 3 crashing at certain points of the game.
@Mgalens I think we just gotta keep pestering Nintendo/NISA about this issue. If no one complains to them about the issue, it'll never get fixed. According to Nintendo's store pages for these games (Zero, Azure), there are no issues on Switch 2, so as far as they're concerned, there's nothing to fix.
Sniper Elite 4 had a glitch and only a few people in the forum were talking about it.But I submitted a bug complaint; so did everyone else in that thread. And it took about a year but eventually they did patch it and fix it.
If someone has the link to where you report the bugs and shares it, and everyone in this thread clicks the link and files a bug report, it's possible they'll fix it- even if it takes a little time.

Trails In The Sky 1st Remake is so dang good. I even put the Persona 3 Reload demo on the back burner for now. And I ADORE Persona. But this Trails remake might be the best JRPG I've ever played. Assuming the rest is as good as what I've played thus far. And i've played enough of the series to know just how good they are. But the battle system in this game is absolute perfection- they really did perfect the formula.

@Mgalens I played Zero and Azure on switch 1 last year and had no performance issues the FMVs issues are only on switch 2 only, as far as I have tested.
In addition what would be sweet is a Switch 2 upgrade pack for both the Daybreak games: tbh I prefer the more mature vibes and characters of those games in particular and really enjoyed both games but the visual quality on switch 2 is terrible for Daybreak 2 and is almost unplayable on NS2 as a result.
My brother has been complaining about the roughness of some of these games on the Switch for a hot minute. Barring Ys VIII(because it was already made for the Vita), it’s obvious most these games were built around the stronger consoles first before being downgraded for the Switch. Seems like this changed with Trails in the Sky 1st since that game runs pretty well on the Switch 1
@Megas75 the problem is, many falcom games on switch 1 were ported over with lower frame rates and lower visuals in order for these games to actually run on the switch, daybreak 2 is a good example of this the game was originally developed for ps5 so it was amazing it worked on switch 1 in the first place.
However I think the roughness of these games is due to the Switch 2 being full 1080 HD which forces even non 1080 games to run at these specs.
Trails in sky 1st chapter is a good game but in my opinion the calvard arc is my favourite and I really fancied playing daybreak1/2 on switch 2.
Really hoping nis and falcom can fix these visual issues soon.
@topsekret
yeah it definitely feels like its one of those issues which wont get fixed unless its brought up though in general am unsure what the best way to bring it to the relevant groups attention would be.
@Mgalens I would suggest calling Nintendo on the phone to report the issue. Hopefully they'll then update the eShop page to identity the compatibility issue and also notify the devs in Japan working on the translation layer.
For NISA, you can email [email protected] to report the issue. I wouldn't necessarily expect them to release a patch, since at the end of the day, it's a bug in Nintendo's Switch->Switch 2 translation layer. But maybe they can put pressure on Nintendo to fix it.
It was pretty hard to track down a physical Switch copy of Trails in the sky 1st Chapter here in the UK for the recommended retail price, most copies either have a huge mark up or it's apparently not coming for a few months... The one I've ordered should be here in a few days.
@kerr9000 I got mine digitally because clear river games via amazon cancelled my pre order that I had since June, a day before launch it was so disappointing.
I have seen retailers selling the limited version for £70 on Ebay which is annoying if you just want regular but not the limited edition.
hopefully the performance mode will smooth things out across the board since handheld can still feel a bit all over the place when it comes to performance though it aiming for 4k 60fps could explain the issues docked (maybe handheld is also trying to run the game at 60fps in "graphics" mode already)
@Mgalens that's cool I wish I could contact nis america about the performance issues of the other trails games in particular daybreak ii, that game desperately needs a upgrade for the switch 2

Mine is coming via The Game Collection.. £48 for a standard Switch copy... Fingers crossed it arrives ok and everything, on fairness Game Collection have never let me down with anything yet.
in regards to the Zero/Azure FMV issue it does feel like the best hope is just hoping that its one of those things that ends up fixed with a general firmware BC update, probably best to just try the gallery after each firmware update since i imagine if they play in that without crashing then the game wont skip them.
for the other games i do hope that they end up with either patches or dedicated switch 2 versions (cold steel 3 and 4 got ported to ps5 and released as a double pack despite also being BC so there is a small bit of hope)
but yeah, Falcom stuff is some of the games i most want to see some form of switch-2 update next to the Xenoblade series and the octopath games (especially 2)
Trails in the Sky NSW2 Edition is getting a patch very soon addressing performance, adding a performance mode (which should hopefully result in a mode capping at 30fps, since my biggest issue is fluctuating framerate that can't hold 60).

@JaxonH
i do hope that the "performance" mode also helps with keeping it more stable at 60 even in handheld since while handheld had less issues it still had a lot of rough edges which just lead to it not quite feeling right to play (i think it was related to "frame pacing" not the most tech-literate but i imagine thats why some games feel better than others even at similar framerates and why sometimes a game can look okay in motion but when playing something feels "off" but thats just a guess)
but yeah also curious to see what happens with some of the BC games especially azure and zero since the FMV issue as others mentioned could be hard for the publisher or others to take note of since the games are marked as not having issues on the eshop notes though those dont seem like the most reliable things since there are quite a few games which have issues which are marked as not having issues and in at least one case, wont even boot (the klonoa collection iirc) i did try contact on the NISA side, didnt get a reply but at the very least sent an email, though as mentioned it feels like something which the best hope would be ending up fixed in one of those "stability" updates since maybe the specific aspect of the transition layer which is causing the FMVs not to play could be fixed.
