@FishyS I still remember how they just teased New Horizons in the September 2018 Direct. They could do something similar again depending on how far out it is.

It will be interesting to see how they do it this time; fundamentally the fanbase size has doubled or possibly tripled and there are a surprising number of people in the 'just waiting for Animal Crossing to get a Switch 2' crowd. I assume it will be a 2026 or 2027 game but there are definitely a lot of people hoping for 2026. I assume it partially depends on what else is out in 2026.Since the Splatoon game is a spinoff, almost-definite gen 10 Pokemon is the only big hitter we know of for 2026 so far. If it's a general direct next week, I hope they tease at least one big game, even if it's a late 2026 game.

I'll predict Nintendo's 2026 lineup:

  • Rhythm Heaven Groove (Switch, Switch 2): Confirmed for 2026, I predict there will be a Switch 2 Edition too
  • Tomodachi Life Living the Dream (Switch, Switch 2): Confirmed for 2026, also I predict there will be a Switch 2 Edition too
  • Splatoon Raiders (Switch 2): Announced without a release window
  • Fire Emblem 4 remake (Switch, Switch 2): Rumored for a while
  • Kirby Planet Robobot remaster (Switch, Switch 2): Rumored
  • Pokemon Gen 10 (Switch 2): Scarlet/Violet launched in 2022 and 2026 is Pokemon's 30th anniversary, a new Pokemon generation is inevitable
  • Luigi's Mansion 4 (Switch 2): Mario Strikers Battle League launched in 2022, we are due for a new title from Next Level Games
  • Next 2D Metroid (Switch 2): Metroid Dread launched in 2021, we are due for a sequel
  • Next Mario Tennis (Switch 2): Mario Golf Super Rush launched in 2021, we are long overdue for a new game from Camelot
  • Next 3D Mario (Switch 2): I'm 50/50 on this, a 2027 release is also feasible

@westman98 iirc, they said Dread was the last of the 2D Metroids?

@CaleBoi25, I looked it up, apparently Dread was basically the end of the storyline that began on the original NES Metroid now that Samus is a Metroid

But people seem to think that it's still not the end of the overall series, especially with Prime 4 coming out. There was almost a 2 decade gap between Dread and the previous 2D Metroid (Fusion if I recall correctly), but there's no way that Nintendo is done with Metroid quite yet.

My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1

3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Metroid Dread is currently the best-selling Metroid game and Yoshio Sakamoto is still employed at Nintendo. 2D (and 3D) Metroid games aren't ending anytime soon.

I've been thinking back to this rumour:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2024/10/rumour-nintendo-to-...

While examples themselves haven't really appeared yet, the general rumour turned out to be true. We're in September and the 1st party lineup for 2025 is:

  • January - DKC Returns HD
  • March - XCX Definitive Edition
  • July - Pokemon Friends (if you count that)
  • October - Pokemon Legends Z-A
  • TBA - Metroid Prime 4

So in the end Nintendo did really rely on 3rd party support for Switch 1 this year.

If general Direct happens, I hope that Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is present with the single player demo shadow drop. The beta last weekend was so amazing.

Switch Force (hate that i have to watch him now since he's reliable now rofl) said that there will be three "7 games".
Final Fantasy
007
Call Of Duty
Dragon Quest
Resident Evil
Ace Attorney
Yakuza
Those seem most likely to me but it will be interesting to see

@Blooper987 If it's a general direct, final fantasy 7 is guaranteed. It needs a release date.

007 already has a March 2026 Switch release date so I don't know why it would be in this direct, but I suppose it might be.

I'm guessing Civ 7 DLC or somesuch.

Disgaea 7 Complete is coming soon so that is at least a small possibility, although that would be a quick mention at most.

I kind of agree Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is a decent chance. Microsoft is legally required to bring some call of duty to Switch 2 and people were a little surprised that wasn't a day 1 title.

It's undoubtedly Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, 007 First Light, and Disgaea 7 Complete. I wouldn't expect anything else.

The latter two obviously won't be much more than quick mentions, but that still counts.

@FishyS Switch 2 is the only platform for 007 First Light which doesn't have digital preorders live. It is very Nintendo-like to withhold preorders only to announce them going live "shortly after this presentation" during a Direct.

i dunno how to put spoilers but seems like Switch Force is teasing a certain series as one of the three "7 games"

Yeah, there is some chatter about that above in this thread. Considering there are 3 already announced Switch 2 games with 7 in their names, this rumor doesn't really spoil anything. Sure, the leak could be talking about different games with 7 in their name, but it's all guesses from us.

For future reference, to make a spoiler , start with [spoiler] and then end it with the same thing except /spoiler inside brackets instead of spoiler. You can also see the code by quoting someone who used a spoiler.

@FishyS ok cool I’ll put it in a spoiler then, he said not a soul has gotten the combo right and some other people I saw are taking it as a hint towards a possible SoulSalibur 7. With SoulCalibur 2 being on GCN nso now and Nintendo and Bandai namco having such a close relationship wouldn’t surprise me if it came out as a timed exclusive or a version with extra content (like link in SC2.

@PLATINUM7 ah didn’t see the replies! Thank you, for someone reason Twitter hid them from me when I was looking through his tweets :/ Anyways I doubt it’ll happen but I’m praying for Ace Attorney 7, it’s been so long since an actual new game in the series and we’re pretty much all caught up on the remakes so it’s gotta happen soon right?
