Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

If Metroid Prime 4 is next month, surely we’d get a trailer/release date this week? This game wouldn’t be a great holiday title sales wise, and a Switch/Switch 2 ‘cross gen’ game is already in October, so idk how else they’d work this release schedule out.

@OctolingKing13 I personally don’t think Prime 4 will get a Direct yet, I feel like release date is almost always announced in a prior trailer. Maybe we could get a release date + direct announcement via Nintendo Today?

What are the chances of a general Direct before September? We still know almost nothing about Kirby Star-Crossed World, Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Air Riders, and Splatoon Raiders. Metroid Prime 4 also still doesn’t have a release date. Also Hyrule Warriors suspiciously didn’t get a release date at the partner showcase. Probably false hope, but it is weird Nintendo hasn’t been slowly announcing these things through Nintendo Today.

I bet Metroid Prime 4 gets a release date announced in a twitter drop within the next 2 weeks for an October release date. Probably October 2nd (two weeks before pokemon). Then Kirby could be November and hyrule warriors could be December or January or something.

@PikminMarioKirby its definitely suspicious since theyve had MULPTIPLE opportunities for announcements on nintendo today. and i feel like just something is missing this year, and 2026 is coming up fast. im still guessing prime four direct this month and a september direct. and zelda cast announcements to keep people from pressing the delete app button on nintendo today

I'm still assuming they went out of their way not to give a release date in the direct and even went out of their way not to say what year it is releasing in their financial report because it's not actually releasing until 2026.

@FishyS If that's the case then it would be sometime in February most likely.

My only thing with that is all of the Switch 1 titles (Rhythm Heaven, Tomodachi Life, Pokemon Champions) are likely releasing in Q1 2026 as well, which would make it quite crowded. I guess one of them could be Q2 (Tomodachi?)

Can we expect Hades II news here? Would love a date for that one

@SteveDaSteve i dont think so, what if nintendo saw the general dissatisfaction with last weeks direct and quickly set up on for this week? quanity over quality? idk

@OctolingKing13 I mean... I think they just had to have a partner showcase and indie because of advertising agreements and just stuck them on weeks where they didn't interfere with other directs or game releases. And decided to spread them out rather than awkwardly combine them like like they did in August 2024.

Unlikely to happen, next direct should be the usual September one.

I always look forward to Indie Showcases. If you're tired of an industry full of sequels, remasters, and reboots...indies are the place to look. I've also got a couple dollars in eShop space bucks. Usually there's an indie sale that goes live after the presentation. Maybe something will jump out at me.

It's a weird situation, I doubt Nintendo would want to overshadow Drag x Drive by doing a general Direct next week but on the other hand they haven't revealed their Gamescom show floor lineup which gives the impression unannounced games are present. Maybe a big indie game like UFO 50 is announced in tomorrow's Indie World and is playable on the show floor?
