@MrCarlos46 I was thinking about the analog triggers issue, and while it would probably ruin the game for me personally, I don't think it'll stop MS from porting it. After all, I think there are some similar racing games control wise on switch already.
Something to note, in the story about this Direct in the Nintendo Today app here in Australia it has an age rating at the end of it of R18+. Not sure how much this tells us given there are a few possible options here for R18+ games it could be. But it is still a fairly small list, assuming they're not just talking up Cyberpunk or Yakuza 0
Doom the Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 are the main two that come to mind

@MrCarlos46 many racing games are using the right analog stick an alternative. Even most gran turismo games. For me that would work fine what's your opinion?
@MrCarlos46
I think you're overthinking the "analogue stick issue" for a game like Forza. Don't get me wrong, I'm still firmly of the view that Switch 2 lacking analogue triggers was a misstep. However, and in spite of my fairly strong views on this and being a fan of racing game, I would say analogue triggers are more of a nice to have than a necessity. Even in racing games
I would say that's even more true for a more arcade-leaning racing game like Forza Horizons. Would I rather an analogue trigger? Sure. But I would also rather a wheel and pedals. I also know from experience that when I've let people have a go at my admittedly not particularly impressive racing setup (PC + Logitech racing wheel + Quest 2) and people have that full freedom of analogue inputs.... most people just push the pedals to the floor anyways..... because it's a video game and going fast is fun

Hard to say. Probably the Switch 2 port for Stardew Valley (joking, while also...not joking). Australia is known for being harsher on game ratings than most other regions. For example, Hunter x Hunter: Nen Impact is the most recent banned game.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
This part right now made me think of that one Labo set that was like a racing wheel… Perhaps for a game like Forza or Gran Turismo they might add some sort of racing wheel support, not fully sure how it would work…
Speaking of Labo, any chance that returns during the Switch 2’s lifespan?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of how our government tends to behave in this kind of space but I wouldn't necessarily say that our classification board is harsher. I think it's more a case of the classification board having a different set of values/concerns than other countries and us being a small enough market that games will just cop the higher rating here rather than bother bending to the rules
I would say that, broadly, Australian classifications are more concerned about violence, drug use and gambling than the US. While the US tends to be more worried about nudity, sex and language. Although..... maybe this isn't the best week to be gloating about Australia's standing in this space given what Collective Shout did.... and also the our government's current attempts to put age restrictions on access on social media including YouTube.....
..... also while I'm here can I once again apologise on behalf of Australia for Rupert Murdoch

Watched the direct, was completely underwhelmed. Spent most of the time watching games that we already know about. Overall pretty bummed that I woke up early and skipped sleeping in.
@Bigmanfan i have to say i agree. i hate being negative but i wasnt engrossed in this one. hopefully this means a general direct is well on its way!

That was far better than I was expecting. A few new rpg announcements when I was only expected the FF Tactics reminder. A pleasant surprise. The Cronos game was previously announced but I had forgotten it. As it's Bloober Team's follow up to Silent Hill 2 remake, I'm pretty keen to play it.
Ok direct. I'll play a decent amount of these games. Not giving Hyrule Warriors a release date might show another direct in the September slot or that delays are incoming
Nice to see third parties are clearly on board....kinda. Some of the games still looked way too rough for what they are like Madden. Star Wars just looks...ugh. And two HD-2D games at the end? Oof.
Nice direct for Unreal Engine though I guess.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
There's some exciting new announcements like Pac-Man World 2, Octopath 0 and MH Stories 3 but I do feel that the Partner Showcase is odd considering the timing. Age of Imprisonment not getting a release date especially was bizarre.
I'd give the Direct a solid 8/10. Nothing for me to play in the near future, if ever, because of my tight gaming schedule, but some of the games looked pretty good.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
That was the most mid-direct. A few things that I know OTHER people would be excited for, but nothing that I was jumping out of my seat to see. 5/10 Direct.
