It'll be disappointing if it's only a partner showcase. Especially since the rumored games don't sound particularly interesting in the slightest. Weird how Nintendo has stuff they can show, but then holds back and doesn't want to show anything- even if it's supposed to come out this year.

@FishyS Wait, did Nate say it was a partner showcase? I didn't see that.

@Bigmanfan He said he wasn't sure. By Nate right I meant something this week. Given all the semi leaks have been about partner games and Nintendo dropped Mario Paint and more drag x drive info, it's just looking slightly less like a general direct. I could easily be wrong though.

@FishyS Oh okay I see what you're saying. Still think general direct myself, but I'm split about 60/40. Could really see either happening.

Just to keep in mind: with Japan getting tsunami warnings (alongside Hawaii and the NA West Coast) due to the big earthquake that hit Siberia a short while ago, there's a very good chance a hypothetical direct planned for this week could end up being delayed.

@BrazillianCara And if there is no direct all the leakers will claim that is the reason and they were actually right the whole time 😆

Yeah I've gone back and forth between whether it will be a general or a partner direct over the last few days.

I'd probably bet on it being a partner to be honest. Bearing in mind, that still means Metroid Prime 4, Hyrule Warriors and Kirby could all show up!
The only thing that makes me think otherwise is that there was a retail listing yesterday for Splatoon Raiders from Malaysia but that doesn't really indicate anything.

@Nintoz if it is a Partner Showcase then Prime 4 is 100% not showing up, it's not made by a third party developer

I get Retro Studios and Intelligent Systems mixed up all the time in terms of which one Nintendo owns.

The Nintendo Today app didn't specify if it was Switch 1, Switch 2, etc.

disappointed but still glad for something! hopefully hyrule warriors will be shown, and some more interesting ports. so maybe a general direct in september then.

I expect there will be at least Hyrule Warriors information, maybe Kirby Air Riders as well. Kind of disappointed it's not a general Direct, but I'll definitely watch it live and participate in the NL live chat assuming that I have free time when it happens!

Well that's underwhelming. I really hope we get the prime 4 release date soon at least. My number one hope is an announcement lumines arise is coming to Switch 2. Not holding my breath on it though.

About Prime 4, if we don't get a release date sometime next month or the month after that, I'm going to assume it will be a 2026 release at that point.

Some of my predictions:

• Start with an Xbox segment (CoD, Sea of Thieves, Starfield/Indiana Jones/DOOM The Dark Ages)
• Release dates for already announced games (e.g. Elden Ring, FFVII Remake, Age of Imprisonment, maybe Kirby Air Riders)
• Square Enix announces FFIX remake
• SEGA announces Persona 3 Reload/Metaphor
• Capcom announces DMC5 and something Resident Evil
• Rockstar announces GTA4 (Switch 1) and RDR2 (Switch 2)
• Bandai Namco announces Digimon
• Ubisoft announces Just Dance 2026 and a bunch of 8th/9th gen games (e.g. AC Shadows, Rainbow Six Siege, Division 2)
• EA announces sports, Star Wars and Battlefield 6
• End on a PS segment with Gravity Rush, Gummy Bears and Astro Bot

My sisters would love it if Astro Bot was brought over, but my guess is that one will not come over yet, if ever.

I’m hoping to see the Halo collection, Elden Ring release date, Resident Evil games, Hades 2 drop (tomorrow), Silksong release date, RDR2. Anything else is icing on the cake.
