Anyone know at what chapter can we buy weapons? I just got to chapter 11 and am a little concerned about running low on weapons. I couldn’t find any option to buy weapons or items at the base.

@Don
Chapter 8, iirc. You've been able to buy, and forge, weapons for 3-4 chapters now.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions

@Don At base: Outfit -> Click a character -> Shop. Don't understand why they decided to bury it so deep. It's awkward since it still asks you who you want to buy an item for afterwards.

Check out my Gaming Nonograms thread here on Nintendo Life if you are into Picross or other similar games.

Thank you 🙏 I’m glad this option is now available. Will be spending a good chunk of that 20,000 I got from the king.

Thanks, can’t believe I didn’t know that. With Anna’s tutorials constantly popping up, she didn’t mention this, or maybe I skipped over that.

Ya it's a bit convoluted.

My advice- forge every chapter. Cause you only get one forge opportunity between each chapter. So make a new weapon every time.

I prefer Iron forged weapons since they're cheaper, and I max out the Mt while minimizing the Wt. I leave Hit alone unless it's a Hand Axe. And definitely don't touch Crit because that can jack up price from 5,000G to 15,000G

Interesting, I almost never forge and just buy new. I guess I’ll try it out. Wasn’t sure if there was a benefit to using it.

Oh, huge. An Iron Forged lance weapon, for example, with Mt maxed out and Wt minimized is stronger than Steel Lance, lighter than Slim Lance, with a Ht rate as high as, well, an Iron Lance.

Try to get same stats from a Steel weapon? Sure, you don't have to increase Mt as much, but it still ends up costing more (because it's steel and has Crit) and weighs more. Iron forged weapons are clutch. Especially Hand Axes with maxed out Mt and increased Hit rate.

edit
Oh, and I almost forgot... you get way more uses with Iron weapons than Steel (or eventually Silver). If I'm paying thousands of Gold for a forged weapon, best to forge Iron where you're getting 45/45 uses compared to 35/35 or whatever number Silver gives you.

Finished up chapter 10 Maniac earlier. Tried out going full stealth this time around. Took a few tries to figure out the planning on recruiting all characters, getting the chests, and fighting the boss.
Got a good amount of bonus exp from it, but I got curious about how it compares to defeating all the enemies.
It felt relatively easy this time, but fighting so many extra enemies has helped with level ups. Ike has been pretty lucky with some good levels too and will likely reach 20 on this next chapter. (Given his stats, I might just have him do a round of combat against the Black Knight)

Regarding the stealth vs. no stealth, I got about 300 more exp when routing all enemies. Using some units who haven’t been able to get as much exp and who I intend to use throughout the game so I think it was worth it.
If you don’t plan to use many units through to the end, then it could be worth the bonus exp though to do stealth.

I’ll be jumping into chapter 18 tonight. I know people said it’s relatively easy compared to others on the series. Not really finding it to be the case . I had to restart turns multiple times last chapter.

Haven’t been able to keep up nearly as much as I’d like. But I finished chapter 21 last night. Trying to do a chapter every couple days or so.

Been making steady progress on my maniac playthrough. Currently on chapter 28 myself, and got most of my main units to level 20 or close to it. I think 27 was the biggest pain though, didn’t quite come properly prepared myself, but I really noticed that sleep staves and siege tomes can be really annoying. (Plus the sleep staff users here are behind a door so you don’t know they’re there until you open one)
I think with Maniac, it has been a mix of difficult and manageable chapters. The increase in enemies has given me a healthy amount of exp and I’ve gotten really good level ups with Ike and some others early on which has helped to make some chapters feel easier than expected.
But on several they do still have a good amount of difficulty and the hardest part is usually the beginning as I work on whittling down the numbers to a manageable amount and work from there.

Playing in Japanese, I realized Stefan’s name is a reference to a character named in Radiant Dawn, although only his Japanese name, Soanevalcke. Some details are revealed about him in PoR, mostly by supports, but this particular link isn’t established until Radiant Dawn so I assume the hidden meaning of the name wasn’t known at the time when changing it. Most names are the same or relatively similar between English/Japanese though. (Also in this particular run, I really started to notice his low luck as even with maxed out speed, I noticed he often got hit)

Been doing relatively well at getting bonus exp too and went for bonus objectives on most chapters that had them. It was pretty tricky on some though. You get a fair bit less compared to other difficulties, but still decent amount overall.
Also if you have the time, giving just a few exp at a time usually conserves more of it depending on the level. You can see how many points are used with each exp so going in increments of 1-4 or so can be a good way to conserve them.

Hoping I can finish this up by the end of tomorrow perhaps!

@yokokazuo agreed, those sleep staff mages were the most annoying part of those maps. Truly frustrating.

@Hapless if you’ve already got a Switch 2 and the expansion pack subscription then I think it probably is a really good starting point.
There is a tutorial you can go through and I believe it goes through it on easy and possibly normal too. (Can skip it if you want and go back to it/any part of the tutorial at anytime)
I also believe that it is pretty beginner friendly and easy can be a good starting point if you’re brand new to the series.

You also get bonus exp just for beating chapters on lower difficulties and more is earned depending on how fast the chapter is cleared and certain bonus objectives for some chapters.
The story is really good too and various parts give more depth to the large cast of characters. I think the in-combat animations are also pretty well made for its time.

Only main downside would probably that turns can take a long time to go through the combat animations in the later chapters, even if you change it to map animations only.

@Hapless no problem! Hope you enjoy!
The other ones do have a rewind mechanic which can be pretty handy at times, but there are at least save states for the GameCube NSO.
