i have an urge to collect EVERYTHING in this game unlike odyssey. maybe its cause im playing it laucnh day and not eight years later 💔 i really love the fashion stuff tho. definitely gonna take my time with this one. i see tons of influence from zelda and even splatoon in little areas, perfection! unfortunately the metacritic score dropped to 90 🙁

Just reached the canyon layer, this game is super fun. Still hard to say if it tops Odyssey but even if it doesn’t I can already tell this will be another Nintendo classic

(Switch Name: Raycraft)
Currently playing:
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (3DS)
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch)
OMORI (Switch)
Collected everything in the lagoon layer. The difficulty is relaxed so far. Exploring is a lot of fun. Found an old member of the DK crew. I hope I can meet more.
Edit: Smashing through the rocks in Bananza form reminds me a lot of Odysseys last part, where you force your way through as Bowser. Probably part of the inspiration for this game.
I opened my copy of DKB this morning and have been playing it for about 3-hours, took me a little while to get used to the controls, be good if the buttons could be changed, but it's not a big deal really. At first I thought the game was going to be annoying with the camera but I soon got that sorted, it's a bit annoying at times but not enough to put me off playing.
At first the game was just a lot of random button bashing, smashing things up, high-fiving the NPC's, and the game has a nice learning curve to it, it teaches (sometimes forces) you to use certain abilities as you progress, which is a great way to teach the player how to do things.
After 3-hours of playing I'm heading towards the core and so far I have to admit... this game is AWESOME!
I can already see myself going back to previous levels to locate and collect absolutely everything once I've finished the game, there is so much to offer and so much to explore, so much to get and achieve, I haven't felt this hyped about playing a game since Mario 64 - yes I know M64 is an old game but DKB is giving me the urge to replay again and again like no game has since M64. I already know I'm going to be playing this game for months/years and I won't ever get bored.
Nintendo have created another gem. This game is insanely good and finally we have a platformer on the Switch 2, makes a nice change from constantly losing on Mario Kart World Knockout Tour lol ..I love MKW by the way, that and now DKB are my new must play games.
If you're on the fence about buying DKB then jump off the fence and go buy it, you won't regret it.

Very different than Odyssey even if there are some similarities. I'm not sure if there has ever been a game so focused on platforming destruction, especially in 3D. I'm not sure what I'll rate the game yet, but I give it a point for doing something unique.
took me a little while to get used to the controls,
At least they let you change the jump button easily in the settings. The default of having jump and basic attack far from each other seemed terrible to me; I swapped it almost instantly.
Metascore dropped to 90? Well, I guess my guess of 92 is off! 🤣

My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
@maxrpg I found the option to switch this morning...it's a swap of A and B in the controls option menu. Made such a big difference for me, first 45 minutes I was digging down instead of jumping...
I'm about an hour into the game, and it's great. Too early to give real thoughts/opinions, but, I can see the potential. The camera in the first few sections reminds me a bit of the N64 days, not being able to find your character. I'm guessing that as the levels open up and I get more experience with it, it'll be more intuitive.
@FishyS Wait. what? You can change the jump button? - I looked in settings but couldn't see that option lol
Near the bottom of the settings menu. There are a couple other controls you can change too but jump was the main one. I don't know why Nintendo keeps making games where the bad jump option is default but then lets you change it.
I just noticed you can change the spoken languages too 🤔
Oh cool! I found Nostalgia Country. I love how they modernised the track and still make it sound like a Super Nintendo song. Super Nintendo music is timeless.
Edit: The picture of the old crew is nice. Just realised that you can turn in Bananza mode, when you shake the controller.
@Dhaladog I followed a Reddit instruction thread. Just googled "setting up Japanese Nintendo account" then "Japanese Amazon account" . The only thing to be aware of is you might have to send some confirmation of your card being genuine by giving Amazon a pdf of a credit card statement from the card you're attempting to use.
