I’ve read that the next event is the 20th through 26th in January at Freezer Layer with statues of Lord Fredrik and Tucks. Don’t know how my source (Super Mario Wiki) got that information though. Does the game already preview the next event after one has ended?

@Dev-N does this answer your question

"Now I have an obligation to tag along and clear the area if Luigi so much as glances at a stiletto."

Dev-N

@N00BiSH Thanks. Looks like it’s just pressing, “I’d like to try that event.”

Makes more sense for Fredrik to be worth more than a Tuck. I would’ve liked a statue of Bashmaster or Skowl.

Donkey Kong Bonanza is pure joy for me. Like.. the moment it starts, it just clicks (like new magnetic JOYcons on switch 2, you get it).

For me Nintendo is always at their best with 3D platformers. Nobody else does that combo of "this is insanely fun" + "how is this even a real idea" + "okay one more level and I’m done" (you’re not done). I adore Mario Odyssey, genuinely one of the best games ever in the genre for me. The creativity, the vibe, the freedom to mess around and still feel like you’re progressing.. it’s that very specific Nintendo magic.

And since Bonanza is from the SAME TEAM, you can feel it instantly. It’s like a celebration again. Bright, playful, slightly chaotic in the best way. New mechanics that actually matter, levels that stay fresh, tons of little surprises, and the whole thing just feels alive. Even the animations and sound design are doing work, you’re constantly smiling at small details you didn’t expect.

Also, funny thing: I originally bought Switch 2 mainly for Mario Kart World. That was the "okay, I have a reason" purchase. But Bonanza is what fully justified it for me. Like, this is the game that made me go: "Yep. This is why I wanted this console."

I haven't gotten a chance to tackle this Freezer layer challenge yet. How is everybody finding it? What's the theme to the perks this time around?

I'm not really sure what the theme is but the event was kinda easy, the main difficulty comes from remembering where the fossils are but you can get Fossil Radar perk early so it's not too bad, after that just pick encore groove and banana slamma perks and just stay in a bananza form all the time (zebra is the most useful to get around the layer quicker but elephant is also helpful), getting extra warp barrels is also helpful
It maybe goes without saying but try to not break too many banandium gems before leveling up the banana slamma perk a few times

Beat it first try, which hasn't happened with the last couple of events. Nice to have an easier one. Looking forward to the reveal of the next event!

the japanese news section revealed that the next event will take place on the forest layer and it will have expresso and ostrich bananza statues as rewards

Pretty sure we'll get statues of Ellie and Rattly in addition to the Elephant and Snake Bananzas, but it's odd how Zebra was left out this time.

Dang, the Frozen level is great!

I avoided it & chose forest level, because I didn't like the idea of a snow level for DK. But I didn't realize the frozen level was a sweets, ice cream, and chocolate level. Frozen level has gotten me back into Bananza.

I chose Forest Layer at first, but now I actually prefer the Freezer Layer. Forest has the Bramble Blast 2D challenge course and a better boss, but Freezer has a better theme and better music. It's not your typical fire and ice stage. The ice cream and chocolate are pretty neat.

Anybody try the Forest Layer event? I haven't gotten the chance just yet.

I got both of the statues
I didn't like this one, I haven't played Emerald Rush on Forest Layer before this event but this is my least favorite map for this mode so far, often when you kill an enemy the emeralds they drop fall into the poison so they disappear, and it happens more the further you get because the terrain gets destroyed as you go
After a few tries I got the strategy down but it was still annoying

I think this is the easiest event since the first one. Go for Ostrich Bananza from the start and choose a lot of the Egg Groove, Munchoid Demolisher, and Eggsplosive Beat perks with a couple of Barrel Bump-Up and maybe some Hurtin' Heart or Hang-Time Beat. I just stayed at Rubbery Roost to farm the Munchoids there. Never went to the Eggshell Hotel at all, just the Annex in Mossplume Marsh for a banana and two fossils.

The japanese news section for the game revealed that the next event will start on march 31st and it will take place on DK Island, the title of it roughly translates to "Unchanging Strength"

@Sylamp Yeah, with statues of Tiny Kong and Wrinkly Kong. Tiny will apparently have her taller redesign from Diddy Kong Racing DS and the Paon DK games. Wrinkly should be a ghost.

I’ve been following the chat there and I’m really enjoying everyone’s ideas. I’d love a mix of fresh mechanics and some classic charm if it ever gets announced.
