@GBA_Yoshi_92 Tell me about it. My switch hasn’t been nearly as fun since my brother started playing a roblox game and my NSO ran out. And I can’t even ‘force’ him to play with me, as that would be kinda cruel.

@Quantumz00 You should brave through the frame dips. The game is great. But if you grinded BOTW, then I would wait to make the world to feel more unique.

my last hurrah on my OLED before I get it all packed up for cryofreeze.
For me this is kinda the one unknown in all this, I'm not sure I will pack up my OLED. Usually I do end up boxing the old console when the new one comes out but this time around I think the OLED will still have use with the Switch 2
Second screen for GameShare, OLED screen for higher contrast, smaller footprint. I can see myself wanting to pull it off the shelf for games nights, especially if we get into Clubhouse Games or something. And virtual game cards should make it easier to manage a library across two devices. Especially given my Switch 2 will not have enough storage on day 1
I'm not entirely sure if it will still sit plugged into my TV but I think I probably still have it easily accessible somewhere at least

I'm preparing.. by hoping I actually get one. I've failed at pre-order so far, haven't gotten a Nintendo magic ticket and I work on June 5th so getting one in person on release day may be hard.
I am preparing by organizing my Switch 1 games so I know what to transfer to Switch 2 and make sure my play hours don't get lost and such.
Since I won’t be opening mine day 1 (moving so I am packing up my apartment) I’m not that excited. But by august I’ll be giddy.

I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
I didn’t have a switch so I have a huge (but awesome) back catalogue to look at and decide what I want to pick up.
However in my mind I’m conscious how many will get switch 2 remakes, the xenoblade series in particular is an interest to me, but do I get them now?!
Either way come release I’ll be getting stuck into breath of the wild for the first time closely followed by tears of the kingdom and breaking it up with some Mario Kart.

I wasn't planning on getting one day one, but it happens to launch a week after my birthday, and so my family got me one preordered as a collaborative gift. So now I'm looking into getting a screen protector and a carrying case, as usual. (I still won't get it strictly "day one" though, shipping and stuff)
It's for sure replacing my OG switch under the TV.... But I'm not so sure it will replace my Lite completely, at least not for now. From what I hear the battery life is not that much better, and the Lite is simply easier to carry around.

For me it was not a big deal to wait, because even though Zelda is my favorite franchise the "open world breath of the wind" style didnt really gel with me for various reasons. I think i just prefer long elaborate hand crafted dungeons. So i didnt feel compelled to do it all again right away, im really doing it because i have played and beat every single Zelda game other than this and FSA (oh and the panasonic cd games or whatever they were). It is my gaming quest. Any Zelda game i must beat eventually.
Switch 2 making the game buttery smooth and resolutiin so sharp incentivizes me to return as you say, to make this experience feel unique. Because that was my other concern, BOTW was already exhaustingly long and i hear Tears is sooo much more content over a lot of the same territory, so i needed that extra oomph you kmow?
I am excited to finally beat my last unplayed Zelda games on SW2 ^_^
I did the same last week, sold my white OLED switch and was surprised to get £230 for it as it was used, but good result, and that money goes towards paying the Switch 2.
Video gives a good summary of why it is likely many Switch 1 games will actually look worse on Switch 2. No clickbait, but if you are thinking of trading your oled it is worth a watch.
Summary: comes down to the fact that 720 doesnt cleanly upscale to 1080p. And only impacts handheld mode in theory.
I just finished paying mine off last week, I'm ready to go! There are a few things I wanna get done before launch though:
1. Figure out how im getting home from the midnight launch (figured it out, just gonna Uber.)
2. Replay Chapters 1&2 of Deltarune twice; One Pacifist Route and one "Weird" Route (aka Snowgrave) (And now I got a do it ALL over again since my old data has my deadname, sad.)
3. HEAVILY conisder restarting BOTW/TOTK early in preparation for the Upgraded versions.
4. Put some extra money aside to make sure I can put the Protection plan on everything i'm getting.
5. Double Triple Quadruple check that my NSO Expansion Pass payment actually went though. (I should just put aside 80 bucks for next year)
6. Pre-Order a GameCube Controller (idk if they ever mentioned it, but i wonder if the GameCube Adapter will be compatible with the GameCube Nintendo Classics App (I only have a 3rd Party one, I don't want to risk any damage this early!)
Mine is ordered and paid for, and should be coming the day of release, its the Mario Kart Bundle one. I have the day booked off to receive it and I had Rune Factory Guardians pre ordered and paid for due to arrive the next day. I'm in the UK and I just noticed Argos have got Cyberpunk for the Switch 2 for £56.99 with free delivery, I think that's the best I've seen it and as I want to support full games on cart as a principle I have ordered this as well, apparently it will either arrive on the day of release or the next day.
I'm also going to buy that digital Fusion Racing game that's like £13.50 or so on release day so that will be me well sorted for a bit.
@Dyna-Z
I have the Gamecube adapter and some GC controllers from the Wii U days. It worked with my Switch, so I'm assuming it's going to work with Switch 2. No need to buy another GC controller!
Gamecube switch 2 controller is still available for sale on us nintendo shop surprisingly as well atm as of 8:20am on May 24. Im mad i sold my last Gamecube controller only a few weeks prior to Switch 2 reveal, cause i definitely think the adapter will work on SW2. No reason for it not to imo.
I cant sell my OLED, for this reason. [...] 720 doesnt cleanly upscale to 1080p
I think this is a bit less of an issue than it's being made out to be by some and it's certainly not as big of an issue as it was for DS -> 3DS. It's a fairly simple equation, the more pixels you have the less perfect scaling matters. Because the smaller the blending between pixels becomes. On a 1080p screen, especially at 8" or so, I don't think you're really going to notice it
It was a huge deal on the 3DS because the 3DS had a fairly low resolution screen. So that blurring when scaling from DS to 3DS? Hard to not see. Pretty horrible really. But again, 720p -> 1080p? eh, not so much
To be fair, I'm also keeping my OLED around. For one it's an OLED screen and there are plenty of Switch titles that run fine on the Switch as is. Switch 2 isn't going to offer a better experience for those titles. But secondly, Game Share, with Game Share a Switch OLED potentially becomes a second controller, or a second screen even. So why not keep it around?

I agree with you sky, it is nowhere near the same issue 3ds or ds had. But due to this factor, id rather keep my oled around because i have a feeling how good a game comes across on Switch 2 will have a wide range of potentials. Some will be better, some the same, some wont work at all or will look worse.
For this reason and the fact my kid can use my oled if they want (although she really prefers tablets ha) i keep it to ensure i always have access to the "complete" switch experience. I have some good memories on this thing.
Id prefer to sell it honestly and make back some of the money im spending on Switch 2, but for now im okay with my choice.
Im hoping Switch 2 surpasses my emulation expectations and ill still be able to sell the OLED anyway
