Will keep my last TOTK, Pokemon, Splatoon OLED models those are collector's item now as backup. Got two Switch 2 coming but will still have those in waiting.
Ive managed to swap my work from home day to the 5th, so that ill be home for delivery, I just have to hope now that it gets delivered and Evri aren't going to be Evri....
Im hoping Switch 2 surpasses my emulation expectations and ill still be able to sell the OLED anyway
I agree with the rest of your post but a pedantic correction here because I've seen a few people say this. Switch 2 isn't emulating Switch games, the compatibility layer isn't an emulator. It's also not native support for Switch code. It's a translation layer
Switch code on Switch 2 is effectively running as native Switch 2 code. They achieve this by, more or less, doing a dictionary swap on calls. And this is possible because the Switch 2 is close enough to the Switch for that to work. This is similar to what Steam Deck does when running windows games and also what Apple does when running legacy apps on ARM
When it works? This should mean Switch games run better. But how better depends on how the original game was allowed to run better. When it doesn't work? Well, it'll be because the original code is leaning on some particular quirk of the Switch 2 or when there's some Switch call that doesn't translate well. Possibly even cases where the game was expecting less performance and breaks when you give it more
But again, this isn't emulation. Emulation would be creating a Switch environment where Switch code could run within the Switch 2. This is creating a software architecture where Switch code can become Switch 2 code. It's subtle, but it's very different
I pre-ordered a GameCube controller but still don't have a preorder yet for the console.
Would love to be excited and start wishlisting games, but my mood currently is "worried that I might be waiting longer than I'd like to be able to jump in and celebrate the launch".
I wasn't going to get anything other than the MK bundle at launch but I'm starting to think if I should get a Pro Controller. It's tempting. Maybe I pick it up with Hyrule Warriors later this year.....
Also just got an email from my ISP today confirming that I'm being upgraded to 500Mbps internet up from 100Mbps in September. Already knew this was happening but nice to have an email confirming it. Have a spot next to my TV with ethernet running directly to my router ready to go for Switch 2
I'm probably only going to get the bundle, but I might get a screen protector eventually as well as a carrying case. I primarily play the Switch in handheld, so I don't see that really changing with the Switch 2.

The only thing current is my wallet funds to secure my PreOrders. Anyone not securing their fund this week of the PreOrders dropping might loose their PreOrders status-when Retailers go to charge the PreOrders. So right now these two weeks one should insure their funds are ready to go and if you got two Switch 2 on PreOrder better have those 1K gofunds ready as a first Priority right now.
The retailer I pre-ordered from (JB HiFi) charged in full when I pre-ordered. So I don't need to do anything now but wait for the day. I think last time I pre-ordered from them was for the Wii U. For Switch I used EB Games but they shut their local store, they're now further away than JBs
I guess I could've got it shipped to my house but.... I'd rather pick it up in person on the day. I don't really trust shipping for something like this. The postie has a tendency to just leave stuff on my front door. On a fairly exposed street. Even though I have a parcel locker. Yeah, no thanks

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
I have the money in my account that's been sitting untouched since the date of pre-order. Bestbuy takes the funds out of the account the launch date effectively. All I had to do was just write in my books that the money was taken out when I pre-ordered it.
@skywake I don't trust shipping either honestly. Much rather pick up the console in-store- which is why I went with Bestbuy over somewhere like Target.

I've started playing Mario Kart 8 a bit again because I figure I won't be as interested in a week. Forgot how bland some of the DLC tracks are, especially the early tour tracks. Looking at you Sydney Sprint
Anyways, I've finally gone through and got gold on all the cups at 200CC, so tick that off the list. I did have 3 stars on all of them on the Wii U but never was that dedicated on Switch. So not going to bother aiming for that. Gold on all is good enough
