@WebHead@Blast: Then how exactly are they gonna announce the new membership service? I mean, the first DeNA mobile game could be revealed the same way Pokemon Go was revealed, and the new Smash character (I'm assuming that's Roger's news) could be revealed the same way Robin and Lucina were revealed, so those are covered, but the new membership service? That I don't see them revealing outside of a Direct. I mean, I suppose it could be revealed alongside the first DeNA mobile game at a conference (assuming they reveal it the way Pokemon Go was revealed), but I figure that said conference would be held by DeNA rather than Nintendo.
So unless the new membership service has been delayed to next year, I feel like they almost certainly would need a Direct this year. I could see one happening this week.

YouTube. All their stuff will be revealed via YouTube.
@IceClimbers: @Blast: Well, they could also use a press release on their site, with announcements on Twitter and other social media that points to the explanatory page. Since this year's E3 Nintendo's big announcements are done this way.
@Blast: You really expect them to reveal such a big service like that via Youtube? I feel like that's something that needs explaining when a lot of people are actually watching at the same time in order to prevent confusion. Everything else can definitely be revealed via Youtube and Twitter though.
I mean, I suppose I could see them delaying it to next year, but that maintenance could suggest otherwise.
@Blast: find me some legitimate evidence that proves we won't get another direct this year.
There is none. People are making assumptions based on absolutely nothing.
YouTube says hi. They've been dropping monthly videos about XCX on YouTube that are Direct material. That recent video of Eiji Aonuma playing Triforce Heroes and talking about the Zelda series was also Direct material. My point? Directs are dead for 2015.

Let's face it: this mystery is driving us insane, especially because Nintendo is using the tactics of diluted announcements mainly via Twitter throughout the whole week, with an incredible lack of trailers of upcoming games (Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, where are you?).

That still isn't proof that Directs are dead for 2015. That stuff could easily be things that Nintendo feels don't need to be covered in a Direct. There's still plenty of stuff they feel could use one to cover though. Most of that stuff is things coming early next year, as well as the new membership service, DeNA mobile game, and Smash DLC. Oh, and the reveal of Twilight Princess HD
@LztheQuack: The new membership service would have been a topic covered during an E3 conference pre-Directs most likely.
Edit: Yeah, we definitely need some news.

You're talking about two already heavily-covered titles that barely even need Direct coverage at this stage. And I would hardly call the Anouma video Direct material when he gives very little new information for fifteen minutes worth.
There is nothing that proves the presence or absence of a Direct this year. We should know by now that Nintendo is rarely if ever straightforward with their announcements

I just don't want you guys to get excited then letdown. I want there to be a Direct this year but I rather be surprised than disappointed.
And I'm saying people shouldn't put the cart before the horse and declare no Directs for the rest of 2015 when there's nothing pointing to that yet, especially since we're not even in the home stretch.

At the same time, fans seem to be absolutely desperate for a direct that they consider a speck on the wall to be a major hint. They then are disappointed and angry when their predictions don't come true...

Agreed. Let's not let ourselves get to Smashboards-level of craziness. As @DarthNocturnal said, what matters is the news itself. The Splatoon update is at least some news. We'll get more news soon enough, even if Directs don't return until next year.
