I just don't want you guys to get excited then letdown. I want there to be a Direct this year but I rather be surprised than disappointed.
And I'm saying people shouldn't put the cart before the horse and declare no Directs for the rest of 2015 when there's nothing pointing to that yet, especially since we're not even in the home stretch.
At the same time, fans seem to be absolutely desperate for a direct that they consider a speck on the wall to be a major hint. They then are disappointed and angry when their predictions don't come true...

True, and I'm no fan of that extreme either (even though I have fallen for it before but hey we're all human). It's better to keep your expectations in check, especially when it's not even coming from Nintendo. I do have reasons to believe a Direct or at least a major announcement is on the horizon, but I'm open to be proven wrong, provided there's indications of the contrary.
If there's anything to it, I think it'd be in a Direct this week. I have a good feeling about this week, but it's probably nothing. It would probably be announced Monday and happen Tuesday, like usual.
@IceClimbers: Well, @DefHalan does have a point. Youtubers can also be pretty untrustworthy; like the whole Splatoon update/direct thing that just happened a few days ago.
YouTubers are just trolling us. They know nothing or what they do know isn't important.
Yeah I'm leaning heavily towards this. No harm no foul, though it is annoying to have someone keep dangling something in front of the fans. "Oh yeah it's some big news but I can't tell you!!!! And no this and that aren't it, so keep guessing! Within two weeks!"
Just stay quiet and let whatever news you might have speak for itself.
So apparently NWPlayer's Twitter account is gone although what's interesting about this is that a few hours before it vanished she said "Time to go back into the bomb shelter until Tuesday, try not to burn down the internet hunting down leakers while I'm gone". Before this she claimed that she knew what the secret that Rogersbase was.
Just something to chew on and to take with a grain of salt. NWPlayer had always been known to troll others and her reputation has dropped down lately after a few past incidents.
@IceClimbers: Right now, many are disappointed with her for misleading them with the whole Octoling/Nintendo Direct thing that she did. Her trustworthy reputation was harmed.

@Aromaiden: She didn't completely mislead them with that. The Direct was just a prediction of hers, while there wasn't any proof we were getting playable Octolings, or at least not yet.
That being said, she does love to screw around with her followers. I can't completely blame her though. The Smash fanbase in particular is pretty easy to screw around with.
@IceClimbers: Actually the only thing that she originally stated that was her just guessing was the Callie and Marie Amiibos. On everything else she stated that she was sure that it would happen. Heck, she even hacked the game and screwed around with the models to make it look official.
Although in the end, I don't really blame her, there was some support to her claim.
So today is the day of the maintenance.Surely if it was something major they would have told us last week?Or maybe the news will come today and then straight after,we have a new account system, cross play, cross buy, rewards, free games, subscription service, premium VIP subscription.I'm not really being serious but again, surely they would have told us in advance?
Edit: Just reading the maintenance page,Flipnote Studio DSi will be down too.Isn't Flipnote 3D one of the rewards Nintendo said will be available to subscribers when the new rewards system arrives?
@OorWullie: You would think they'd have told us in advance if we're getting the new membership service, but this is Nintendo we're talking about after all.
