What will I do if Nintendo dies? Play games on another system. It's really that simple.

I can't help but agree with the statement of Nintendo's death also being the demise of gaming as we know it today. Like it or not, they were the company that played the biggest role in bringing video games back from the brink during the infamous crash of 1983, and were pioneers in driving the industry forward to new hights.

I don't believe video games would go extinct without Nintendo, but there would certainly be much less variety with FPSs already having a huge grasp of the general public.

Honestly, I doubt there'd be less variety. If a big company like Nintendo goes out, it just gives other companies a chance to shine. It's like saying "If the biggest, oldest tree dies, the forest will die!" No it won't, that's not it works. When the big tree falls, it allows for the other trees to grow, and its remains will feed the next generation. Tons of people will be clamouring for the fans that Nintendo left behind, allowing for new stars to be born. If anything, there'd be more variety.

Guess I'll just play on Sony's consoles until the chain reaction of Nintendo's death causes the industry to crash.

That would be an epic war, lasting all of one day, as the millions of Nintendo fans demand of Sony the great things Nintendo has given us.

i'll have all three systems by next year so if nintendo were to die at least I can play Zelda on either a PS4 or an Xbox.

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

I'd go wherever the whimsically fun games went (either playstation or more likely finally investing in a gaming PC, backwards compatibility and dirt cheap games, why not?)

Me, as a more grown-up Nintendo fan (I.e I'll play Zelda, but NOT Kirby or AC) can definitely understand why Sony, especially, do more successfully than Nintendo. Nintendo make far too many games which are, basically, rated 'U'.

This generation are more interested in stealing cars, killing and chaos - rather than dreasing a cartoon charcter up in a cute outfit.

Meanwhile Pokemon is still selling millions of copies. And Sony being much more successful than Nintendo? Have you actually been keeping up with them?

Look, I'm not interested in this idiotic, biitter 'discussion'. So...if it stops this tit-for-tat exchange, I'll take back my statement. If that's the case, I do apologise though for rendering your unpleasant reply moot.

This isn't the kind of thing I feel the need to research.

^Except what you had there wasn't an opinion, it was a theory, and all Lz was doing was disproving your theory. If you find being given facts unpleasant, that's your problem, but you can't hide behind an opinion tag when you're not even talking about something that's opinionated.

@Veloster ... you did make the claim that Sony was doing better than Nintendo, and yes, we have been over this with others many times. The numbers have been in for some time, and the 3DS is outselling ALL game systems. The most popular games for handhelds are all Nintendo exclusives as well. The numbers clearly show that Nintendo is doing better than Sony, and it doesn't take much research to see that. What can be debated is why Nintendo is doing better now.

Also, it's a well known fact that Nintendo revived the video game market in the past, something no other company can claim to have done. That in itself is why Nintendo survived when they shot themselves in the foot a short while ago, the DSi failed to attract devs, Wii U needs a lot of work too now. Fan loyalty has a huge impact as well, there are many of us who grew up with Nintendo and will support the company until the day we die.

For Nintendo to actually die, they would have to have a repeat of 2013 for 50 more consecutive years. By that time I'll be 80 years old. So uh, I'm not too worried about it. It's gonna take more than the Wii U to bring Nintendo down. A LOT more. In the meantime, I'll be blissfully enjoying Nintendo's games on both their home console and handheld.

2013 was one of their best years, don't you mean 2011?

@Blast you can also go for Neo Nintendo when that happens, a new company that's actually just Nintendo rising again because Nintendo is a kind of a phoenix company that always revives regardless of the hard times

goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Let's see. The Vita is not selling in relatively large numbers. Sony's branches are bleeding money. They are selling buildings. And analysts have just recommended not buying Sony stocks.

Is my point moot now?
