Reminds me of how Jurassic Park kind of did something similar.
The novel kills off a side character… but the movie makes that character hot survive, and he becomes popular enough to star in a sequel… But to make a sequel they first need a second novel to base it on.
Writer then makes sequel novel, where the previously dead character makes sure to mention he just looked dead. It’s your fault for assuming the narrator was right.
(Edit: And it’s doubly funny now that I think about this whole thing, because it happens twice! One of the main characters that survives in the first book, becomes a side character that dies in the movie, so then the second book clarifies he is now dead)
Thanksgiving dinner went well, also got my Christmas shopping done. All that's left is waiting until Christmas, been listening to Christmas music and playing some games. Started playing Princess Peach Showtime again, wish I played it more since I really do like the game. Voted for it in this year's Game Awards.
@Sunsy I'm absolutely curious about the DS Diddy Kong Racing, and how different it was.
I've not seen that many people out there who 100% cleared Sonic 06. And yeah. Mephiles, although his hands-off logic is somewhat flawed, is absolutely an awesome villain.
I never knew the original Wizard of Oz had a sequel. I did see the prequel though!
Diddy Kong Racing DS did have some different stuff in it. One that sticks out is getting a boost using the touch screen. It's been a while since I've last played it. Should charge up my 3DS and give it a go again.
It's not exactly a sequel, it's like a sequel. A studio actually made an animated adaptation where Dorthy returns to Oz because Oz is in danger from the brother of the Wicked Witch, The Jester. It has nothing to do with the famous 1939 movie, aside from the usual Oz characters from the books.
@Sunsy I did thanks. Normally I get alerts for quotes as well. I didn't change any settings, but it's possible I accidentally deactivated the notification at some point without realizing it. That or you edited in your response later. I don't think alerts sometimes trigger in that scenario. Ah well. That's in the past now lol.
I would try that clam sauce. Something about the taste of Alfredo doesn't sit right with me. You think it would since it's dairy based, and I like many forms of dairy. I'm not sure if it's a seasoning used in it or what. Anything with tomatoes always works for me though.
I'm glad Sonic Adventure 2 was an improvement over the first game. Hopefully that also means in the voice acting department, if it was used lol.
That's why I try not to edit in replies, usually the notification doesn't go out. Often times with these longer replies I copy and paste my response into a notepad document just so I don't lose anything and it gets posted in one go (also 502 errors, they scare me after I type a big response, lol).
That's fine. Actually had to use up tomato sauce earlier this week. Last week I made some homemade pizza, and needed to use up the sauce before it goes bad. So made some English muffin pizzas for lunch and some pasta one night for dinner. That's the downside to jar sauce, you have to use it up or it goes bad.
Indeed, I think voice acting in Sonic games have gotten better over the years. Even if the characters will sometimes say something cheesy, lol.
@Sunsy Yeah, I feel like the game maybe could have run better on other platforms. I heard about that infinite jump Knuckles glitch being the most notable part of the WiiU game and speed runners using that glitch to beat the game in a short period of time haha.
Yep, Playtonic has a lot of Rare developers working there. In fact, a lot of Rare employees started a ton of their own companies besides Playtonic, but the latter is the most notable alongside Free Radical Design (notable for making the TimeSplitters games). Rare had a lot of issues during the 2000s after being bought by a huge company and splitting off from Nintendo, and luckily it appears to have gotten better, but reports said that development on their next game, Everwild, wasn’t going well, and that sucks a ton, even though I don’t really play their newer 2010s games or Sea of Thieves.
I also saw you were talking a bit about DKR a bit! It is cool that they were intending to use the rest of the game’s cast for their own games, and some Rare employees have talked about them a bit, but the only one that they talked about the most was Timber’s game, and I think NL made an article on that a few years ago; in his game, he was supposed to be a time traveler, and the gameplay was supposed to be similar to Ocarina of Time. For some of the characters, Rare did comment on what they were doing after DKR (besides Banjo and Conker) of course, but I cannot remember most of it because it’s been a few years. I know that Rare said that Bumper was serving time in jail (I am not kidding when I say this) and Timber grew a beard I think? I need to reread that again because it’s been far too long since I found out that information.
I found Rock-a-Doodle more lighthearted than All Dogs Go to Heaven and NIMH, but there were a few parts of Rock-a-Doodle that were dark, like the antagonist being scary, having a threatening voice and presence toward the main characters and farm animals, and that part of the film where he and his men gather around the farm animals and sing as they prepare to eat them after the flashlight runs out of batteries, and you are right about the sun never going up and it being night all the time. I still haven’t gotten around to watching Anastasia… If you do want to watch it, Rock-a-Doodle is currently available on YouTube Movies as a “free with ads” movie. That’s where I watched it and Bluth’s other movies recently.
I have seen a lot of great art reels, plus some that have super helpful tips and tricks for art. I know the most popular art reels on Instagram are mainly ones that show someone drawing or someone showing their art setup. I only just post images too, but it seems like that reels are the only fast way to get popular, unless your lucky and the algorithm pushes your pictures a lot and a ton of people find it. I’ve heard a lot of artists expressing their disdain for reels a lot, and how they feel it’s the only way for them to stay relevant. Most of the time, I see reels get way more likes than photos on a person’s account. However, I’m not really bothered by how not many people like or see my posts, I was obsessed with trying to record reels and get attention, but the one now deleted reel I posted only managed to get a few views and likes (plus I kind of was embarrassed by the video I posted because of its bad quality and obvious cuts) and I realized that it wasn’t worth it to try and make reels while tiring myself out if my reels wouldn’t get noticed a ton. I’ll probably try reels again, but not anytime soon. I’m not bothered if I’m unpopular, if only a few people see my artwork, it’s fine and makes me content anyway
I still remember the day I found out someone speedran the game, I just though "wow, people really speed through Sonic games," lol. I only tried the glitch once and then it got patched out with the update. Though the updated did fix the game's other problems too. Playing Sonic Boom with the update just boils down to "do I like this game or not," rather than "look how buggy this is."
Oh wow, I didn't know some of them went to work with the TimeSplitters developers. I wasn't even aware they were working on a game called Everwild, Sea of Thieves is the only one I knew because of Microsoft promoting it during their showcases (despite not owning an Xbox, I watch them for PC stuff). Sucks things haven't been well for Rare since the Microsoft buyout.
Yeah, I like Diddy Kong Racing, both original and DS. I must have missed that article, even if I don't post to the forum, I'm usually here every day looking at the latest news and articles. That actually does sound like a cool premise for a Timber game, I could picture Timber time traveling. Oh no, poor Bumper in jail, that actually made me laugh. Will admit, I did like Pipsy a lot as a kid and would always main her in the game. She was just cute with her bow, a sailor shirt, and squeaky voice.
Alrighty, I'll have to give it a watch one day, maybe after Christmas since I'm trying to enjoy some Christmas movies lately (watched Home Alone and All I Want For Christmas Is You recently, yes, they made an animated Christmas movie inspired by the song). It's been years since I've watched Rock-A-Doodle, didn't know it was one of YouTube's free with ads movies.
Yeah I'm not too worried about being popular on Instagram, honestly, I think getting popular would lead to making social media stressful. In a "I have to do this to retain my audience" kind of way. I find doing stuff more for fun and not worrying about it is the way to go. I'll draw stuff I like and post it to Instagram, but I'm not expecting it to blow up. Though it is fun when the official Trolls account does find my Trolls art. It's cool the person running the account loves looking at fan art. Videos can be hard to make if you don't have the right setup or know how to edit properly, which is why I don't bother with them. I have tried making a short video before, and it's difficult to do. Have to prop up the phone which can be hard, have good lighting, it's not easy to get it right.
@Sunsy I did see Trolls and I enjoyed it. Went ahead and told you about it in the movie thread. I already love Poppy and how sweet and positive she is! I wanna see Band Together at some point, I'll let you know what I think when I see it. On a movie-related note, I also saw The Polar Express, which I also enjoyed.
That's cool you have that Trolls headband. Those all sound nice. The last time I dressed up for Halloween, it was a Luigi costume. I had a Mario costume on a few times in the past, too. But yeah, I haven't been dressing up in costumes in a long time, especially since trick-or-treaters just don't come around my area.
I remember seeing those Satellaview Mario games, I think I saw a video on one of them a long time ago. Been fascinated by Sega Channel as well, there's been new VHS rips of it put on YouTube which I've been seeing. As someone who was too young at the time and our family only having the SNES, it is cool to see how it worked. I do like how it gave you stuff like tips while your game downloads.
That's cool, yeah there's just something about having stuff like movies in the background while you're playing games. I do really like the Nintendo Music app too. I've been having the Toy Day theme from Animal Crossing: New Horizons playing in the background while decorating my Christmas tree and putting together my train set! I just wish that Nintendo Music didn't have that startup issue for me, where it would hang on the loading screen until I close the app and start it again. I think it's been happening less as time goes on, though. If it helps to know, I'm an Android user.
Nice, that's cool. Gosh, I just remembered something, I used to have a demo disc for my PS2 way back in the day! It came with a PlayStation magazine, I think it was called PlayStation Underground? It had stuff like game demos (for games like Maximo: Ghosts to Glory and Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder), trailers, and tip videos. I remember that some PS1 Crash games (like Crash Bandicoot: Warped) had demos for Spyro games, as well.
Oh that's cool, didn't know Wolfenstein came out before Doom. I don't think I've heard of the Blake Stone games, they do sound pretty cool. I think the closest thing I played was GoldenEye 007, I played a fair amount of it on NSO.
Nice, glad you got to try out the newest Mario Party! Jamboree is really good. Cool to see the demo let you try out Peach's minigame, as well. Good to hear you had a nice time out, sounds like you got a good haul. I got a couple new ornaments, including the Mario characters one from My Nintendo. Got myself a new stocking, too.
I'm so glad you enjoyed Trolls. Now you can see why I love that little troll so much, my favorite character. The True Colors scene always gets me everytime, the build up of why Branch won't sing, Poppy turning sad and losing her color, only to have Branch sing, return her colors and his colors on top of it, I love it. Like I said it starts off silly, but has a lot of heart as the movie goes on. Hope you enjoy Trolls Band Together whenever you get to see it. Cool, that movie is a classic. Christmas related I did recently watch Home Alone and All I Want For Christmas Is You (as mentioned above, yes, they made an animated movie based on the song).
That's cool, I think I have a Mario hat somewhere. I remember getting the hat and it even came with a felt Mario mustache, lol. I still have the hat somewhere. I haven't had trick-or-treaters in years, so I still dress up for fun. Mostly a related hat or headband of sorts with matching shirt.
Yup, Sega Channel had digital manuals too. It was mostly the text from the paper manual on screen, once matched the text from a Sonic manual my brother had. I love watching those VHS rips, it takes me back to when I had Sega Channel and was playing games on the service. I also remember they had a solitaire game. While it's just a card game and no big deal, it was interestingly an exclusive game to the service and had on physical release. I think there was an exclusive Mega Man game to the service too. That and Satellaview are such interesting pieces of gaming history.
Oh wow, I did not think about searching the Nintendo Music app for any Christmas/winter themed music. I mostly decorated my tree to online Christmas radio I listen to every single year. I'm guessing that's an Android problem, I use an iPhone and the app starts fine.
I remember seeing a ad on the PlayStation demo disc my brother had, it had a trailer for PlayStation Underground. IIRC it was like a CD magazine with previews, reviews and demos. That kind of takes me back. I never had an issue/CD of PlayStation magazine. Now I think about it there was something similar to that for PC. It was called Interactive Entertainment. Learned about it last year after getting the PC classic, Jagged Alliance (turn based strategy game, think Mario + Rabbids, except on an island that you have to take back by hiring mercenaries), when I wanted to learn more about it I stumbled across a review by that magazine. It was a CD-ROM that did video reviews and previews. Everything felt so futuristic back then, the idea of a CD magazine. Now I want to look up info on PlayStation Underground to learn about it.
Yeah, Wolfenstein 3D was before Doom. Given it's a WWII FPS game, it even predates stuff like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. I like Blake Stone more than Wolfenstein 3D, mostly because of the sci-fi theme, and there's improvements to the Wolfenstein engine that makes the game look better than Wolfenstein 3D. I think I tried GoldenEye at a very old N64 store display. Always loved classic FPS games.
Indeed, I was surprised there was a demo. I wish Nintendo would just release these demos to the eShop so I can try them without going out somewhere. Indeed, that sounds like a good haul to me. I haven't gotten any new ornaments this year, so I've been using the ones I've always have. I just need to put a few more up and the tree will be done.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Mariotag So one of the films killed off a core character to the books just in the very first film? That’s crazy, I remember that the author didn’t like the film and he harshly criticized it because of the script and he even said that it was unrecognizable because of the changes. It is nice that the Disney+ show got the author’s involvement in it so that it would turn out better than the films. I did like what I saw in the show, but I need to finish it at one point. I wonder why some media changes the source material significantly.
We had two PlayStation 4 consoles, one being for my dad and the other being for everyone else to play in the house. We didn’t have another empty PlayStation console to transfer the data for the PS4 that me and everyone else played, so before we traded that one in, we wiped all the data off of it and didn’t transfer.
It surprises me that my brother wasn’t really bothered by the data being deleted, since he played the PS4 the most and had a ton of acclaimed games on there that he enjoyed, like Persona 5 Royal. Though, he wasn’t playing the PS4 at that point anymore and was playing his Xbox with his friends since a ton of the multiplayer games we had on PS4 weren’t cross-platform with his friends’ Xbox consoles, plus I was playing the Switch a ton by the time the PS4 had its data wiped. My dad transferred his data to his own PS5, so all of his game data, game progress and profile data stayed intact.
I am liking the art direction for Book 9, it looks like they got the artist for Book 2 to work on it. What surprised me was how the two antagonists for the new book seemed to have these kind of futuristic designs rather than more medieval designs like the previous antagonists, as well as the fact that one of them appears to have a gun-like weapon. I was also surprised that they brought back Loki when I saw the opening animation. I am very curious to see what direction they are taking for this one.
Yeah, Smash was intended to be a party game for lots of people to play, and it’s only really fun when your against other players. No one else is really interested in playing Smash now (especially since they finished DLC and updates on it) so offline I always battle against Level 9 CPUs, though when I play, I often like fighting off-stage for a few seconds to defeat the CPUs. Usually, when I play Smash, I disabled items and liked to repeatedly keep opponents off-stage. I got that from a few competitive Smash clips I used to watch, but I lost interest in watching competitive Smash and stopped playing like that. I do think playing online with others was fun, but the online multiplayer is plagued by bad internet connection and disconnects that instantly end matches. Whenever I did online play, I only used the spectator mode where you watch other online battles and guess who is going to win, and if you guessed correctly, you could get points to redeem rewards.
Maybe we could play Smash online at some point, that would be fun, but I am sometimes busy a bunch and I unfortunately don’t get enough time to play games online. Usually there’s a lot of bad internet that makes me slightly nervous playing online since it can make me disconnect unintentionally.
@Sunsy Speedrunning is so cool, I would stink at it, but I have a lot of respect for people who do that, trying to see how fast you can beat a game and the shortest amount of time it could take to finish it. I haven’t really heard of any other Sonic speed runs besides the people speedrunning Boom using the infinite jump Knuckles glitch, but there are a few other well-known speedruns for other games that I remember. Two other speedruns I remember was for a game called Tomba 2 and one for one of the N64 Zelda games. If I recall, the Tomba 2 was done at a speedrun charity marathon called Games Done Quick, but the speedrun is only really remembered because of the awkwardness and quietness between the speedrunner and the small audience watching him play and a few silly comments from one of the audience members. The guy who speedran one of the Zelda games did it via Smash Brawl’s Masterpieces feature that allows you to play classic games under a short time limit. I think he beat that game before the time limit went off because of a glitch he discovered that made it possible to complete it at the beginning of the game. All these discoveries speedrunners have made for these games over the years are so interesting and cool.
It is good to hear that the updates fixed the game more, but it’s still sad to hear that the technical issues present when the game first released ruined its commercial and critical performance. The Boom era was interesting since they wanted the games to appeal more to American audiences than Japanese audiences (plus they initially planned to keep the Boom games exclusive to America) and how they had a different studio develop the game instead of Sega themselves.
Yeah, I haven’t played TimeSplitters, but I heard they are good games. A lot of Rare employees made their own games and studios after leaving the company. Everwild was in the works for maybe a decade but they only officially announced it back in 2019, but haven’t commented on it because of the rough development cycle and them rebooting development on the game and having to start over again, and because of that, I’m assuming the game isn’t done yet. There were reports that they were aiming to release it this year, but I think that wouldn’t work. Game development has gotten more expensive and long, so Rare doesn’t release games as frequently as they used to back during the N64, OG Xbox and Xbox 360-eras. I am worried if it’s going to affect the final product, because I may consider playing it when it releases and when they show more info on it, and sometimes rough development cycles can affect a game negatively.
Rare has a lot of cancelled games that have plenty of interesting ideas and premises, and even some of their released and finished games have interesting development stories. A cool fact is that DKR was originally an unrelated real-time strategy game before being changed to a racer. DKR has a nice aesthetic and colorful look to it, I would like if they did release it on NSO soon. I particularly like the designs of the racers, I really want to draw them also because I love animals a lot.
That’s a good selection of films you are watching right now. Hope you enjoy them! Home Alone is a classic, and I do remember that they had an animated movie based on All I Want For Christmas Is You, but I think I only saw a few minutes of it one time. Usually I don’t watch movies for the holidays. The only one I will see around Christmas is Sonic 3, but I’ll probably find a few more YouTube Movies I could watch too. I was on a movie craze back in October-November and it was so fun.
It does seem stressful to be popular! I have come across reels from smaller artists and they say that for popular artists, it seems like they always have to post daily to keep their audience and popularity, like it’s something they need to commit to daily. I just post art whenever I feel like it or when I have something done after working on it for a few days, and I do get some new people liking my artwork, so that makes me content, because it tells me that my art got onto someone’s feed. I also do think it’s cool when official accounts find fanart and share it. I also said that Rare’s social media accounts also do Fanart Friday’s each week, and I love to see a ton of amazing fanart by other people who enjoy Rare like me! Yeah, the setup part is why i don’t really like recording videos of me drawing or have time to. While I’m sure doing that could make people more interested in my art by seeing how I make it, it’s so hard to record when I don’t have a phone stand or good lighting. In fact, that one reel I recorded and then deleted was done while I was holding my phone in hand, and it was so hard to record while I had an oil pastel in the other hand and trying to draw, since when I draw, I need to use one hand to hold the paper down to make sure it doesn’t move or get damaged when I’m drawing, like if I’m erasing something on the paper.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flaky from Happy Tree Friends.
@Pastellioli
After you played PS4 games on PS5, you will not thinking to use PS4 machine anymore since PS5 machine not just only fast loading for the games but also quick loading time for accessing PS Store page. Just go to the left from Home menu and you will find the front page of PS Store.
I moved my PS4 games Save data mostly to my PS5 for the games that got 60 fps boost or at least stable 60 fps. The PS4 games that already stable 60 fps on PS4 or still 30 fps even on PS5 will stay on my PS4.
The PS4 game I spent the most hours so far (currently more than 250 hours) is The Sims 4 since I love house building games and my forte is Art so it took several hours just for building and furnishing 1 house / building.
Not to mention creating the characters, deciding how many Sims in one family, what kind of their life goal and personality and I never made my Sims characters are mean or evil or terrible people since I want to interact with other Sims in positive way. No quarrel, no unnecessary drama, no weird stuffs.
I love The Sims 4 but I hate the tons of DLC from EA as they are very pricey. The Expansion Packs cost $40, Game Packs cost $20, Stuffs Pack cost $10, additional object pack cost $5.
I only bought the DLC when they got at least 50% discount, sometimes the Expansion Packs got discounted to 60%.
I enjoyed the DLC I bought so far but The Sims 4 is still lack of usable cars and motorbike from previous The Sims games so we just walk to the road and disappeared when we go to work or school without any vehicles picked up us.
Not many peoples here have interest with The Sims games. Do you have any friend who have interest in The Sims games?
I have watched the whole Broadway performance of Wicked from YouTube to imagine the situation of movie version in part 2.
It was almost 2 hours 30 minutes.
The movie version have more detailed way to deliver the storyline and the way of Broadway version delivered the Wicked, I can't imagine what will be looks like the movie version of part 2.
I'm very sure the movie version will have improvement and changes to follow the director's decision.
I wonder if we will see Nessarose got crushed by the Dorothy's house and see her screaming at the thing from the sky that crushed her body to death, the melting scene of Elphaba after got splased by water by Dorothy, the catfight between Glinda and Elphaba that possibly have more intense actions, etc.
@Sunsy Indeed, that does not sound like any Oz adaptation I know.
DKR DS sounds interesting. I know they had a track creator, and swapped out a bunch of Rareware characters, but that's about it.
I get rather frustrated when I type out a reply, only to be logged out before I post it...
Never really speedran Sonic, or any game really.
I still wanna see Rare's DKR characters get their own (quality) games someday.
And yeah, I actually got a Twitter follower count earlier this year, so have been a bit upset seeing it go down.
@Sunsy
Btw, have you watched WICKED movie by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo?
Wicked is the backstory of Elphaba as the Wicked Witch from the West before the event of Wizard of Oz happened.
The movie is separated into two parts.
Part 1 is on this year and part 2 will be on next year.
I personally enjoyed WICKED more than Moana 2 from the music aspect and storyline aspect.
WICKED is about backstory of Wicked Witch of the West, Moana 2 is about reuniting other people's again on new discovered island.
@Pastellioli Yup. Core character killed off in the very first film, brought back for the second, and killed again in a very non-canon way. There are other significant changes as well, and poor casting. 12 year old Percy in the first film looks, like, 18-20.
Yea, I absolutely make sure to transfer data. I'll be so frustrated in switch 2 has limited backward compatibility, or if you can't transfer.
Again, my big concern with book 9 is it'll be the last one. 9 realms and all that.
I'll look forward to what comes all the same.
I also tend to play smash a bit competitively. Melee was my first game I played in an actual competition with. Nobody really does play it anymore outside tournaments.. Online sucks here too, so playing online might not be a viable option tbh.
Speedrunning absolutely is interesting. The stunts people will pull to achieve a better time are incredible, to say the least. Long and pricey development cycles have gotten frustrating indeed.
@Mariotag
No.
It was the backstory of Elphaba as people called her Wicked Witch of the West and the event took before Dorothy Gale landed on Oz and the things happened while Dorothy already on Oz.
If you watched the Broadway version from the YouTube video link I posted above, you will see the untold story from The Wizard of Oz, and it was really shocking.
@Mariotag I mostly game at home as well, though the Switch has made gaming slightly easier to fit in elsewhere. I often drive most places since public transportation is fleeting where I live, plus my job is one where there's always something to do.
Glad I'm not the only one whose brain has changed how I process words. I used to attribute some of the issue to brain fog, but I'm not sure that's the case anymore. I think a lot of it is how I'm wired, what I read these days, and the time (or lack of) to do it.
You've hit on another reason why I'm careful about playing some mobile titles: a lot of their services are eventually taken offline. It's why I prefer to buy/own games, mobile and otherwise, outright. Or at least have alternative solutions where I won't completely lose my hard work (Eg. Pokemon Home transfers from Pokemon Go).
You're adding onto my reluctance to invest any time into Crunchyroll lol. More stories to add to the fire I suppose....
@Zuljaras - I'm late, but I LOVE that T2 Paladin armor display! Great job! That hit me in the nostalgia a little lol. I swore off MMOs some time ago, but I played WoW during most of WotLK and revisited it (free to level 20) on weekends during Warlords of Draenor.
@Sunsy I've started typing long replies into Microsoft OneNote on my phone most of the time. The problem is it saves inconsistently, so I occasionally either lose text or some edits to typos.
Tomato sauces don't last too long once opened, do they? I've found I need to use up leftover pasta sauce in roughly two weeks max, otherwise it gets moldy even if refrigerated. I might make spaghetti this week and use a jar then. Been awhile since I've had it.
@MarioVillager92 Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. I need to update my profile pic too. Hopefully very soon. I recommend that you check out Hocus Pocus when you get the chance. I do plan to rewatch The Nightmare Before Christmas soon! The Polar Express is antique great movie and is worthy of being called a classic IMO.
I'm still doing some side stuff in Echoes of Wisdom before heading to the final dungeon. I finally found all the Might crystals and Heart Pieces. Same with stamps and many mini games. I just need to wrap up the Dream Dojo, then I should be set. As for FDC, I finished The Missing Heir and am now working on The Girl Who Stands Behind. Glad you're almost done with Brothership; I'm hoping to pick that one up sometime next year. Yes to MMBN Collection! Not that I'm biased lol. The first Battle Network is rough but still worth playing IMO.
Yeah... definitely work your way up to zip lining if you ever want to try it. Think of it like a suspended rollercoaster with secure harness material instead of a car.
@Pastellioli Thanks, my Thanksgiving was good. Sort of busy earlier in the day, but that's normal. Christmas is tied with Halloween as my favorite holiday.
I actually think I caught a glimpse of your drawing in the BL Artist thread! I don't comment in there often but do check it sometimes. I love your use of colors. Scene recreation can be hard, but worth it sometimes. The important thing is to try, even if we do fail. And what looks like failure to us may look awesome to someone else. It's all about perspective. Props on trying to recreate a piece like the Mona Lisa.
To my knowledge, there aren't any car wash waiting areas like that around here. I think it highly varies on where one is from and what a business is willing to support.
Tastes and interests change over time, so it's not surprising that your interest in games has changed too. For example, I like simulation games but just don't really have the time to sink into them when there's plenty of other stuff to play lol. Other genres I've had to step back from completely, like MMOs. Shooters have never been my thing. It helps that more of them try to distinguish themselves these days, but for the most part I prefer fantasy settings without guns (or at least extensive use of them).
It sounds like Crunchyroll has similar issues to the YouTube app on mobile. The ads didn't used to be bad at all, and I know there are still easy ways to circumvent them...on PC. But I much prefer YT on mobile since I can haul my phone around easier when doing chores and eating. I don't want to completely block them either since there are channels I wanna support through ad revenue, but YT/Google make this very hard to deal with these days. I miss when YT was ad-free and not owned by a huge sketchy mega corp.
@Tyranexx Yeah, I carry this bag with me everywhere, switch included. Unfortunately, I can't drive, and there is no public transportation here.
Yeah, I have no idea why those reading issues happened.
Crunchyroll has kinda bothered me for a while. I sometimes use it, but not often.
I completely agree with you on owning games. I hate the live service model, and the subscription model. One solace is that fans will generally find a way to preserve what they can though.
Found all might crystals? I had to ask help with iirc, 3 heart pieces, two sidequests, and two echoes.
I never did finish the Dream Dojo 100% though.
I actually finished Broship last night. Precisely one month after getting it.
Ads have gotten overly frustrating.
@Tyranexx Christmas is my most favorite holiday of the year alongside Thanksgiving. I love both a ton!
Thanks, I am a mega big fan of stuff that is colorful and I love drawing it, though I don’t think it was until earlier this year that I started to use a ton of colors in my drawing. Usually my artwork wasn’t colored that way and I used natural colors instead. The Mona Lisa was so hard to recreate a ton of times, but I will say, that even though I failed a lot of my attempts, it was fun trying to color with more details and stuff. It’s still fun for me to try out new stuff I haven’t done before in drawing, because there is a bunch, a whole bunch of stuff I haven’t tried out yet. Whenever I draw video game characters in my style, I usually like changing their designs up a bit and adding my own details and touches to them, while also making sure they still resemble their original designs. It’s what I have fun the most when drawing characters.
Probably, maybe that car wash I remembered maybe had more financial support that allowed them to have a gaming and waiting area. It was nice, but it’s sad that those types of fun waiting areas aren’t that common anymore. I saw them way more the last decade.
Yeah, plus other stuff like my music tastes and what I like drawing have changed a bunch over time alongside the games I genres I like playing. I think alongside my favorite game genre changing to platformers, I also started to draw animals more instead of stuff like humans and still objects, probably because I liked Rare’s animal protagonists in their platformers and found them charming. Over the years, it’s crazy to see how much my interests have changed! I used to pretty much play shooter games a ton and only that and always liked drawing human characters more than animals. Usually, when it comes to the appearance of a game or the setting, I like fantasy settings that have mystical creatures and anthropomorphic animals, and I like it when the visuals are bright and colorful or cartoony.
The ads just ruin Crunchyroll and YouTube. Crunchyroll is just so much worse with ads compared to YouTube though; it takes so long for an episode of an anime to start and for the anime to resume after an ad break. I also like watching YouTube on phone, but the ads are not good. I do feel like YouTube has kinda gotten worse. One example is them hiding dislike counts and only showing like counts publicly, which makes it hard to tell whether or not a video is good or not. I have no idea why they did that, but it most certainly doesn’t help when trying to find a good video to watch sometimes.
@Mana_Knight Just accepted your friend request! Sorry if I took a while to accept, haven’t booted up the Switch in a while.

@Anti-Matter I can imagine how well the PS5 runs. Haven’t played it, but I have seen my dad use his and the performance and UI look super smooth and clean!
I know about The Sims but I’ll admit I’ve never played any of the games. I think that it is cool that you can choose what your Sims will do, and deciding what paths they should take. I haven’t really played any games that are also about building or have any building aspects to them. The only game I can think of that did have similar building aspects to them was Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts on the Xbox, though that was more about vehicle construction and I sucked at it a bunch. What else do you like about The Sims a ton besides the building aspects and choosing what route your Sims can take?
@Mariotag It’s so strange that they would take that route of killing of a core character to the books instead of just sticking to the source material. One thing people don’t like about some film adaptations of books is how they sometimes differ from the source material a lot and add changes that ruin the film’s story or characters, and I do feel like that happens constantly with some movies.
I am hoping for data transfer too, as well as having Switch accounts transfer too with games. It is great that they confirmed that the next console will allow previous Switch software to be playable, but hopefully they allow all software to be playable. It would be a shame if some old games just stayed stuck on old hardware.
I am pretty excited to see what they will do for Book 9 since you told me they have gone over almost all the Norse realms. I do hope it isn’t the end of FEH when Book 9 finishes next year.
I think I kind of got interested in the way some people played Smash when I was on a Smash craze back in 2022. While I was playing Ultimate and gradually building up the spirit collection, I watched a few YouTube clips from competitive tournaments and I thought the way some people played it was cool with all those fighting techniques and how they would fight with rules like not using items or Final Smashes. I did try to take some of the play styles some people had in those videos, but I wouldn’t call myself a competitive player; I’m still very casual when playing and I play as pretty easy to use but sometimes annoying characters. I think I lost interest in competitive Smash once I stopped playing the game for a bit, but I heard more about the competitive scene later that year after what happened between Nintendo and The Big House and the aftermath of that when I read an article on NL as a guest user.
I just enjoy hearing about speedrunning a lot. So many skilled and talented people playing their favorite games and trying to show how fast it takes to complete them. I haven’t watched full speedruns, but I watched a few channels and videos on them and they were so fun. I usually watched Mario 64 speedrun videos while I did other hobbies or when I was bored. Really interesting stuff. I have a lot of respect for the people who play through games like that.
Yeah, Rare’s official socials do this Fanart Friday thing where they highlight two pieces of fanart and credit the artists and talk about the drawings a bit. I don’t know how long Rare has done Fanart Fridays, but the first time I saw them do it was back in 2021 on their Twitter/X account. It’s cool that they enjoy fan creations a lot. I’ve seen a ton of amazing artwork of Rare characters that way.
@Pastellioli
The Sims games have Expansion Packs that give you additional different gameplay.
For example, In The Sims 4, if you have Island Living, you can become Mermaid. you can ride jet ski, you can build your house near of the beach water.
If you have Seasons expansion pack, you will experience with 4 different seasons that not only affect your activities but also the weather, the festival events, etc.
If you have Pets expansion pack, you can have cat / dog, you can build vet clinic, you can intereact with cat / dogs.
If you have Cottage Living expansion pack, you can pet farm animals, you can grow your farming plants like Harvest Moon games.
If you have Dine Out game pack, you can make your own restaurant and run your restaurant management.
My favorite Expansion Pack so far are Seasons, Snowy Escape, Get to Work, Get Famous, Cottage Living.
Also, I like to create a lot of six pack male characters in The Sims 4, the reason I like The Sims games.
And my The Sims gameplay experience also being carried when I played ACNH.
My island on ACNH is beautiful, my villagers houses (exterior and interior) are beautiful, my villagers wear nice outfits, my house is really great.
If Animal Crossing have gameplay like The Sims which you need to eat when you're hungry, you need to sleep when you're tired, you need to go to toilet when you want to pee, it will looks very cute and interesting, also it makes the furnitures have their function, not just only display purpose.
@Anti-Matter Wow, that’s a lot of content for the game! That sounds super cool and I definitely am getting some Animal Crossing vibes from some of the features described in it. It seems to have more real life elements in it compared to Animal Crossing and I do think that’s interesting, especially some of the parts you described like the Sims actually getting hungry and needing to eat or having to go to bed when they feel tired. The DLC packs sound like they add a lot more fun to the game, though I didn’t know about being able to become a mermaid in the game with a DLC pack. I didn’t really know much about the DLC packs in the games, so thank you for sharing
