@Yousef- That sounds interesting, I have never heard of chapati! I’d love to eat cool and delicious breakfasts like that. Usually it’s nothing super fancy because I need to start doing work and stuff.
It’s that I worry I’ll be seen as bad and inconsiderate, but also because I set high standards for myself, and when I don’t meet any of those standards, I get upset and feel ashamed. Plus, sometimes if you make small mistakes online, like saying information that is false and full of errors on accident, someone can point it out and get extremely angry about it. Online you don’t know how people will react to what you say and whether they will be super kind about it or not.
When responded to you in another thread, I felt embarrassed that my response was full of bad opinions, too many errors and had little research put into it and it sounded like it annoyed you, cuz it was on something you were extremely passionate about and you were upset over the misinformation present in there. I still feel embarrassed about it, but I’d look so wimpy and learn nothing if I chose to delete my comment out of shame. I’ve made it a rule for me to never delete any comment or post I write on here or significantly editing them to change my opinions or views when someone disagrees. It was lame whenever I did that on PX.
I did draw recently, but I am finding myself not liking drawing a lot as I used to. Lack of time is a big reason, but at the end of the day, I just don’t have any motivation. I’m way too slow when drawing and accomplish very little. My schedule is busy, so I can’t get into art as much as I want to. I could push out maybe 3 to 4 pieces in a single day, and now I can only do 1 piece and spend a week on it.
I did have a big self-esteem years ago, but it’s taken a plummet, especially with events that have happened in the world and how it seems to be full of negativity. My family has told me to be less negative with myself, but I sometimes feel I’m way too prone to making mistakes than them, and I think that positive opinions I give on myself aren’t valid since it’s not from someone else. But, it’s an unhealthy habit I need to break over time. Sadly I’ve let it foster for too long.
Hobbies help me forget stuff, they have helped a lot, but I haven’t been drawing or playing games recently, but mostly from watching anime a lot lol. Maybe I’ll try drawing today, but I hope it doesn’t upset me. Usually it’s the art style I have a hard time with. I don’t know how to make something fit in my style without it looking weird.
I overthink a lot, about anything really. I don’t want to look bad and have someone think poorly of me, also because that contributes to my low self-esteem, but it stresses me out too much.
I self-deprecate a lot from media I consume alongside my awful self-esteem. A lot of my favorite games are filled with self-deprecation, and online a lot of people intentionally act self-deprecating for people to laugh at and relate to, and the constant negativity made me do the same too. But, I do it too much and to the detriment of my emotions and how I value myself. I do feel like that younger me was more positive back then, and I wish I didn’t allow these unhealthy habits to grow over time. I can reverse them, but it’ll take time.
Thank you for the chat, I feel better now. I just felt really awful last night, also since it was super late and I felt sleepy, but I’m now refreshed and feeling ready for the day! Sorry for the late reply, I was knocked out for a bit sleeping.
@EllaTheQueen6 hi, are you doing ok these days? Did the universe end? If so, how was it?
I need to stop dying, I don't even remember the context for the universe ending
Hi guys I'm alive I've just been super busy
Oh my, what a pleasant surprise! I’m speechless at this sudden return, but it’s great to have you back.
now important question, did you win that fistfight with the tornado? Got really worried there for a while.
Had a really good day the other day, went to the local shopping center via Lyft and had a nice morning out. Walked around Target and bought some Trolls Mineez, and then looked around in Five Below. Didn't find anything I wanted at Five Below. Even looked at the games in Target, even though I don't have a PlayStation, I did see a copy of Concord... hours before Sony revealed the game was being pulled. Also, watched Polly Pocket (finished season 2, it's a good show) and had a good online session of Modern Combat Blackout that evening. Was a good day.
@Pastellioli Indeed, similarly I have one friend I see regularly, and another friend who moved away almost a decade ago. I still talk to him online, but we did get together recently (he was the friend visiting) and did some gaming, and showed him my favorite pizza spot. We always talk gaming. Here is nice for talking about Nintendo games, or even other games I've seen people just talk about it in general.
Yeah, it had more to do with the reviews not being near a 9 or a 10, rather than it being "kiddy." I only got the "kiddy" thing like twice on the old forums. Oh wow, I didn't even know about Pokemon Rumble World's reviews, I use to play it on my 3DS, actually I think I still have it downloaded. Interesting, you mean those direct-to-video Disney sequels, I remember a lot did hate them. I think I've only seen a few. Can't think of too many "bad" movies I've seen, usually if I like a movie, I usually end up having the opinion that the movie was good. Agreed to that.
I do believe the M for Conker is more to its content. Gameplay wise, it feels like most Rare platformers. I have an N64 copy of Perfect Dark, even though I haven't played it much, I do think it got an M-rating mostly for being an FPS. Most FPS games at the time was rated M. The only early 2000's FPS I can think of that were T-rated was Medal of Honor and the original Call of Duty on PC (I actually have both of these physically too... oh wow, physical PC games).
@Tyranexx Indeed, the case with the theater I went to, it did have modern TV-style menus at the concession area, outside of that, it's still great the old building is still used. I'm glad the only time it closed was to get new seats and carpeting.
It did. That can be hard to do too. Though the movie did hit hard with some moments, like Joy actually snapping when being called "delusional." It was like a different side of her.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
The data on this has renewed for the month, and I feel like I have something to say! The stars have aligned! The roof leaks in my room when it rains, the lobby has black bags instead of windows, and it's really difficult to get to the local libraries round here, but the place I've moved to seems like a fine place to live. I bought Emio a couple of days ago, and in a stroke of terrible timing, my sister has taken an interest. So she plays it whenever she gets an opportunity. It's really good, I feel it's the best in the series yet, really funny at times, kind of scary at times. I can't really agree with the NL review on this one on the music, but maybe I haven't been in many elevators. And the protagonist has been voiced since the remake, and the review seemed to imply otherwise, which bugged me. This is my first post for a while because I worry about using too much data, so I just want to say that the announcement of Emio really saved the month of July. It was July, I think, and I hate buses and contacting universities.
Truly I am mankind's natural foe! Evil Incarnate! A walking cataclysm! A shapeless insanity! GUNDHAM TANAKA!
Kelpies. Be they hound or horse?

Feeling better after that rant I left here yesterday. Got snacks at a store with my family and my gosh they are so good. I ate some sweetened dried oranges and I will admit that I’ve never eaten orange skins before. So sweet and nice, but I only had five since they have high sugar content. I do have watermelon, so I’ll snack away on that! Watermelon is so refreshing too. Dried fruit is tasty, but almost all the time it’s too sugary. I am way too obsessed with raisins when I’m given a box or bag of them haha.
We also got cassava chips and curl chips made of potatoes and lentils. Cassava is a type of root, sort of similar to a potato. These chips are all so AWESOME, and I’d actually take those over more processed and unhealthy chips like potato chips. They are so simple with their ingredients, yet so much more satisfying and healthier to eat. I usually don’t eat chips, also because they are unhealthy and I don’t have the urge to eat any.
Probably going to watch JoJo again later and this time I’m making SURE I’m not going to comment stupid opinions on things I haven’t gotten onto yet and not falling asleep while watching it. I’ve tried to binge watch the episodes for Battle Tendency but I’m still on the 12th episode because these last few days I have been so sleepy when I get free time to watch it, and I always fall asleep with my phone open, and then wake up to an almost dead phone laying on my bed sheets. Freaking love Joseph. He’s probably going to be one of my favorite characters of all time from what I’ve seen so far. He’s so goofy and charming!
Well, come this weekend, I'll be able to play my Nintendo games in glorious 4K HD quality. I ended up winning a 65-inch (165.1 cm for those who use the metric system) Samsung 4K Smart TV in a raffle at a company picnic today! This comes after winning a PlayStation 5 in another raffle at a company party last year. Picking it up at work tomorrow.
@AstroTheGamosian yooooo that’s excellent! We have a 4K television at home and I can personally attest to how sharp the picture quality is when on PS5. Add HDR on top and the picture is just stunning, and even the Switch benefits from how clear it is.
May be a bit much but for me that can be enough to breathe new life into a game.
@AstroTheGamosian That is so freaking cool. It seems very difficult to win raffles and get prizes that’ll provide lots of fun for a long time from how raffles are random, so congrats! I know if I entered a raffle I’d lose lol.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
Laying in bed while watching JoJo. Only watched maybe two episodes and fighting the urge to fall asleep. The ending of episode 12 was insane and the following episode was very intense. I really want to describe what happens in the ending of episode 12 but it’d be so hard to from how bizarre it is lol. The way the protagonist protects himself from bullets being shot at him and his allies really surprised me. Gosh, I can tell from the anime that the original creator of the manga is so good at writing and making really interesting, memorable, and insane fight scenes.
I also tried to draw earlier, but didn’t because I knew I wouldn’t have time. For me, why would I bother trying to do a hobby when I have limited time to invest into it? I’ll have to make a smaller drawing, luckily, I have a small sketchbook with me!
@Pastellioli My girlfriend said the same thing (she's also a coworker). She went for a Microsoft Surface tablet that was also available, but she said that she always loses these things. Then she won the tablet.
My parents once attended one of those company picnics (they used to be coworkers as well), and after taking a good look at the raffle prizes, my mom saw a random stand mixer among them, and confidently declared they would walk out with that mixer.
Attempt to guess what prize she won at the raffle.
And it’s not the only time she’s done that. When my dad claims he married a witch, he’s not trying to be rude.
@Eel That is kind of cool. I mean, I don't consider myself to be psychic, but I have had premonitions of things before that turned out to be true. More than once, in fact. And far be it from me to sound New Age, but I can also sense a person's personality based on the aura they give off. And more often than not, I tend to be right.
@Pastellioli I’m really glad to hear you’ve been doing better. Positive reinforcement is essential in our lives. If you need someone to talk to, just drop me a word and I’ll be there for ya buddy.
Chapatti is tasty. It’s a flat Indian bread that became popular in Kuwait. An alternate name would be Roti, depends on who you ask. Na’an has different names too, so does Sambosa. Kabab is an exception though, it’s often misspelled with an E, I dunno why non-arabs spread a false name like that when they could just ask us. We’re not ghosts.
But that’s a bit off topic, because I wanted to discuss our breakfast. It was all wraps. The filling was either hard boiled eggs or soft fried potatoes, both with kraft cream cheese. It was incredibly cheap, only a 100 fils each, which is 0.100 Kuwaiti dinar, which is equal to a third of a dollar. Since one Kuwaiti dinar = three US dollars, in today’s conversions.
I believe society does not understand self-esteem at all. Individuals with low self-esteem must not be treated harshly. They must be treated with positive feedback. There’s this myth that they need to “toughen up” or “they’re just acting”. These are harmful stereotypes about mental health, and I hope society progresses past this and learns to treat depressed people better. For shame!
Hirohiko Araki is a masterclass at fight choreography. He’s unmatched in sheer creativity. Battle Tendency is a masterpiece from beginning to end.
There’s more I’ll say in the anime thread. I think I replied to everything here that I could.
If I forgot to reply to something, let me know. I can miss a few stuff here and there.
@Sunsy I am talking a bit more with my friends now! They are sometimes a bit busy and sleepy, but I am happy to be chatting with them more. It would be fun if I could meet my NL and PX friends in real life, but we all unfortunately live in different countries and have different things going on in our lives. I do have a small bit of hope I can see them one day in a few more years, but it isn’t happening right now lol. I do want to play with one of my friends online later this month, but I need to try to make sure I wake up at the right time, because he sometimes plays games late where he is and when I wake up in the morning where I live he is almost ready to go to bed.
I loved Rumble World a ton! I had a lot of Pokémon there. I still have my handheld, maybe I could find the charger and plug it up. A lot of people I think never liked the Rumble games, but I for sure loved Rumble World and the mobile game they had for it before it was closed a few years ago. I watched the direct-to-video Disney sequels a lot, even though people hated them. I watched a video a few months ago where a guy watched all the direct-to-video films and ranked them, and I think the only ones everyone collectively agrees is amazing is Cinderella 3 and The Lion King 1 1/2, I loved the latter and I do agree it’s a well-done and hilarious prequel film. Though, one of the worst direct-to-video Disney films I watched was The Hunchback of Notre Dame II. Just plain awful with the writing and the downgraded animation. That is maybe the only “bad” film I have maybe watched and can think of.
Conker is rated M more for the content being sometimes super suggestive and eyebrow raising, gory violence, occasional cursing, and the crude toilet humor. I was a bit surprised with some of the content in it, though it was more so with the ending cutscene of the caveman boss battle, cuz was watching a playthrough of the N64 version while I was playing the Xbox port and I was so shocked they left it uncensored in the original, but I can’t say anything else about it because it’s not age-appropriate. I was also a bit surprised that one of Conker’s idle animations shows some pretty risqué imagery if you look up close, but the entire point of the game was to be as crude as possible and making their characters super crass and discourteous, and it did surprise me a bit Nintendo allowed Rare to release it with little to no cuts back in the day, because Nintendo liked to keep everything strictly family-friendly, but I think that only applied to them, and they didn’t really care if companies went ahead and released M-rated games on their consoles. Nintendo wasn’t involved in the game at all, except requesting that 2-3 scenes in the game be cut, being a Pokémon reference and two for referencing dark and extremely violent stuff that I shouldn’t mention here.
Perfect Dark did get that M-rating probably for the genre, but otherwise the violence is very tame nowadays, same goes for Zero. It was the early 2000s, so content in both those games was probably treated differently than they are today. Who knows, they could have gotten different age ratings if they released today!
@Yousef- Thank you, usually when I get upset over something it only lasts for about a day or so. I forget about it the next day and I’m feeling way better!
Gosh food in Kuwait sounds awesome. I need to check if there are any restaurants that sell Kuwait or West Asian cuisine. I could maybe try to make a version of what you ate with ingredients from the store here.
A lot of the reels I’ve come across on Instagram, while funny, are a bit self-deprecating to be “relatable.” Usually, the content that is super relatable is the ones that get the most likes and views, so online it’s pretty much encouraged to be like that for comedy and relatability. It doesn’t really take me down a lot or upset me, but it’s something I did realize a bit now.
From what I’ve seen so far, he is so creative with his concepts and battle scenes, how Joseph took a few strands of Stroheim’s hair and then used Ripple/Hamon to turn the hair into a makeshift barrier to deflect Santana’s bullets really surprised me from how creative it was. I should also give praise to the character designs as well; my gosh, his designs are on a whole other level. They are so impressive, unique and memorable, and I remember I used to draw the characters a lot a few years ago. Araki’s designs are so fun to draw! I haven’t gotten onto the parts yet, but from what I saw a few years ago, the outfits the casts of Golden Wind and Stone Ocean wear are probably my favorites. I do have specific designs that I like a lot.
@AstroTheGamosian another one of her favorite anecdotes is when she found a chocolate box my dad had given her for Valentine’s Day empty, and after not getting a confession out of my brother or I, she declared that whoever ate her chocolates would get a bad case of the runs.
Cue my Dad arriving home later that day, desperately heading straight to the bathroom.
@Pastellioli understandable. But even if you “forget about it”, it’s quite healthy you acknowledged being upset, spoke about it and attempted to receive some consolation. This is the behavior that helps people heal, rather than stay wounded and risk long term damage.
Self-deprecation is oddly common amongst people with poor self-esteem and that’s not good. It’s the equivalent to a sleep-deprived person preferring to drink caffeine at night… oh crap that’s me. Uhhh, moving along! But yeah, there’s a healthy balance to everything. Having a laugh at yourself is mature and humble, self-deprecating on the other hand, is not. At least not always. Hope that helps.
Kuwaiti cuisine and west Asian cuisine in general being represented in the states…. Actually has a hope of happening, believe it or not. One of the biggest Kuwaiti franchises, Fareej Saweeleh, did open a branch in London. It’s not completely impossible for it open a branch in North America. Who knows.
Gulf/west Asian cuisine is quite a unique fusion of arab, Indian and middetterian cuisine. It’s a very one-of-a-kind experience so I hope more people get to experience it.
Kuwaitis, Saudis, Emiratis, Bahrainis, Qataris, Omanis and just the gulf in general don’t quite have a reason to go to the states due to how far it is, and how well-off we usually are. So the cuisine has less of a chance to spread but hopefully that changes in the future.
Hamon is a very creative power system, and Maybe one of the first “alternative” power systems in battle shonen history. There’s insane potential and Araki explored it quite well in PB and BT.
Araki has some of the manliest yet flamboyant designs in manga history. Truly, a one of a kind artist.
