Friend visited the other day, had a great day, did some gaming, went to a store as a break from the gaming, and took him to my favorite pizza place. Some of the games we played included DOOM + DOOM II, Asphalt Legends Unite, but we also played games we can't play online like co-op games of Sonic Superstars, Super Mario Wonder, and Trolls Remix Rescue. A bunch of local co-op games. Even got to show him an episode of Snorks (he like 80's cartoons and never seen Snorks) and he showed me Chibi Godzilla Raids Again.
@Sunsy I loved Chip ‘n’ Dale a lot, maybe my favorite cartoon duo after I watched the Rescue Rangers film and show. Super endearing and charming. I love rodents a lot, so it’s no surprise here!
I do get super worried and anxious over what impressions I leave in text, since it’s sometimes hard to tell the tone someone is speaking in since there is no actual talking or sound to convey emotion or tone, so I sometimes tend to edit messages a ton to sound nice and respectful, like a lot, even old ones because some more info pops into my mind. Sometimes I edit it to fix the comment and make it sound kinder if I come off as a bit rude, but also to add more info and rewording stuff to make it less wordy and excessive. I have a bad tendency to write long walls of text like these lol. It’s a habit of mine to keep going on and on and on when I chat with people on here. It’s one of my favorite things, and I am a bit surprised some people here take the time to read my long messages and respond to them. Usually on other places on the internet if you write lengthy responses no one responds or goes “I’m not reading all that.”
I’m not into one of your other conversations and I don’t know the context, but bullying people just because they don’t play “cool” M-rated games and just like to play fun kiddy games and movie tie-in games instead is lame. It’s fine to like both or prefer one over the other (I think there are some other users on this site who like kiddy and tie-in games over M-rated or popular games) but it just feels like some games are put on pedestals by gaming communities and forums (not the ones on this site, to clarify) and if you don’t like or play them, they always get on you for it, when it isn’t a requirement to play M-rated games, or games that get onto “the greatest games of all time” lists. It’s not nice or fun to pick on others for not having the same tastes as you. It’s so lame.
I’m not into playing movie and cartoon tie-in games, usually I play games that work with original gaming IPs and worlds, but I have tried a few tie-ins that I did find fun and something to laugh at. I remember that when me and my brother still had a PS4, we played a tie-in Ratatouille game they put on PlayStation
Plus I believe and we were laughing our butts off at a ton of stuff that happened in the game. I can remember this part where you are being chased by the old lady with the gun outside and running from her and it was so funny. I am sure we did have fun playing it. Plus, some tie-in games are so fun and well-made, like that tie-in game they made for The Lego Movie, plus there have been a ton of other Lego games that are fun too and although I haven’t played it, a lot of people say The Simpsons: Hit and Run is one of the best tie-in games ever made, I remember watching a video on it that sung its praises and it was entertaining. I think tie-in games have a very poor reputation unfortunately compared to games using original properties, mostly from the fact that a lot of tie-in games aren’t made with much effort, and it seems that the reception those games get bury a lot of the well-made and good ones, so a bunch of people instantly think that, if it’s a tie-in game, then it’s garbage, and if it’s an original game it’s good.
I mostly play E-T rated games, but of course a few M-rated games too.
I see what you mean, I always try to be careful when posting online, just trying not to say something that may upset others. It's also why I won't touch sensitive subjects online, not to mention, it's just more fun to talk about things that you like like games and movies. It's ok, I've seen lots of long posts. If anything, I sometimes feel like I could go on and on.
I agree, it is lame. Though back when I was on an old forum, it wasn't because it was "kiddy" games, it was more like "look at these reviews, the games you like are bad," often from somebody who never even played the game. I think I got the "what are you? Five years old?" once, it did feel bad, especially since I was already a teen at that point in time. I enjoyed games based on my favorite cartoons, honestly, they weren't all bad. I'd say they were pretty fun, even better when they were faithful to the source material. Jimmy Neutron: Attack of the Twonkies for example, felt like an actual Jimmy Neutron episode. Chicken Little, while I like the movie, I found the game to be better than the movie. Just some examples since this was a long time ago.
That's fine, I play original games too. Ah Ratatouille, I have it for GameCube and Wii, so it may be different than the old PS3 version (assuming that's what's played on the PS4). I remember it being one of the last GameCube games too, releasing in 2007. Never played the Lego Movie game, but I have Lego Dimensions and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Wii U, they were fun. I have the PC version of Simpsons Hit and Run, it was a really good game. I don't watch Simpsons anymore, but it was cool having an open world Springfield to explore and do whatever in.
That's fine, ratings don't matter much to me. I'll play a game because it interests me. Though most of the M-rated stuff I do play are mainly FPS games. Like Doom, Quake, etc (I like id Software games). I was actually playing Modern Combat Blackout on my Switch earlier today, I like going online occasionally with that game. Plus it's better than the mobile version, has no microtransactions and it's just a normal game.
@Sunsy I'm a bit of a history nerd, so I enjoy learning about older buildings and what all they were used for. I like visiting them too - within reason. I'm not going to enter a condemned structure that's about to fall down with the next big wind lol. Nearly 100 years...that's pretty good for a building on the North American continent. There's another one-screen theater in the town I work in that was restored at one point, but it's currently not in use. It has changed ownership more than once and was in the process of being restored before repairs had to stall out again due to rising costs.
I really enjoyed Inside Out 2. The film team really did their homework on psychology and human emotions as we currently understand them. I'm no expert, but I've had some exposure to the field. How Riley calmed herself down during her panic attack through grounding and controlled breathing is how one would handle that situation in real life.
Cool, it's always fascinating. I remember when I was in elementary school, I even got to see some historic places from my state. Indeed, I was really surprise to find out how old the theater is, when I look at old pictures of it, I can still see it's the same building. They did add to it over the years, but the theater is still there, and that's cool. Aww, sorry to hear it's not in use.
Glad you like it. Indeed they did. That scene hit hard, they did a good job showing what she was going through and how she handled it.
Wowwwwww. I ate a lot of junk today lol. Will I regret it? Probably. Did I love it? Absolutely. I ate so much bread and sugar haha. Two of my favorite things to eat!
@Sunsy Yeah, I do have a lot of fun talking online. I don’t really have a lot of friends in person, so I like to talk to people on here. In fact, I’d consider a few of the people on NL and its sister sites my online friends! It makes me a bit happy, but I haven’t been talking to two of them recently cuz they have told me they have been super busy with stuff.
Oh, I didn’t know that they acted like that because the games were bad and not because they were “kiddy” and film and show tie-ins. I thought it was more like a combination of both, and thinking that M-rated stuff makes you “cooler,” like how some people think excessively swearing every time they talk makes them look cool. I think it’s fine for anyone to like anything, even if it isn’t top notch or good quality. I liked a lot of media that wasn’t good quality. I can’t quite remember or list any video games I’ve played in the past that scored badly that I liked besides Pokémon Rumble World on the 3DS (I think NL rated it highly but other publications not so much) but I can for sure remember liking a couple of movies that weren’t good, like Mulan II, which I think a lot of people thought was bad mostly from how much they ruined Mushu (which I can absolutely agree with now, his character was butchered so badly) and the writing too, but young me loved it and the songs so much haha. I think I liked a lot of the direct-to-video Disney sequels even though Cinderella 3 is considered the best out of them all. It is not a crime to love media that is considered “bad,” everyone is free to like anything they want, as long as it’s not problematic!
I also don’t really have issues with age ratings, I’ll also play anything that interests me, but for M-rated games, it’s only a few, usually the ones that are older and are more so rated that for violence. I think the only M-rated games that really REALLY interested me was Conker and the Perfect Dark games, but the latter is way more deserving of T-ratings. M by 2000s standards, yes, but they seem way more targeted towards teens since the content and violence isn’t strong. Conker though? That M-rating was really warranted with the content it had. Maybe some of the content in that is tamer if you compare it to some modern media, but it’s still pretty adult and crass. Other M-rated games don’t really interest me, but I can tell a lot of them are good!
Bwahahaha finally finished my Kamen Rider Gaim CSM driver and lockseed collection! Now I can go back to buying games like a normal person. Also my Sailor Moon glass dessert plates just came in. I swear I am going to have the best tea parties. LEGO Deku Tree came in as well.
I swear I always get quoted when I have a typo. Dangit.

@Pastellioli Possibly. If the server location is in Europe, posting in the evening or at night in North America might also butt heads with with a server reboot or site refresh or other process. In any case, web errors over 500 indicate it's a host server issue. All we can do is refresh. XD
I'm not normally an impulse buyer, but I think I get the Daiso conundrum lol. I did find some neat Japanese themed shops on vacation and had to really restrain myself since I had very limited luggage space.
I like NL over larger sites - the largest forum boards I've ever inhabited are on IGN, and this was well over a decade ago. The mods here are - in my opinion - pretty balanced and allow a lot of voices to be heard as long as folks stay respectful and within the rules. Which beats (to use a more tame example) only allowing praise or, conversely, criticism for Nintendo. Usually the forums are pretty chill, but some of the article comments can get thorny sometimes.
I was exposed mostly to Nintendo systems back in the day, with a little Sega Genesis and PS2 rarely tossed in via some cousins and a previous babysitter. I've owned at least one iteration of each Nintendo handheld since the GBC and had somewhat regular exposure to the SNES through a babysitting aunt and some cousins. Then a huge console gap between there and the Wii (Handhelds were cheaper; my family wasn't loaded. I received a GBC for my 10th birthday to fuel my Pokemon addiction). Game Pass certainly has value for Xbox, though arguably less so with the recent pricing changes. From the outside looking in, I could tell it's a knock at consumers. Pre-ordering is very rare for me; it has to be a title I know I'll like, usually part of an established franchise. Bonuses are rarely worth it unless it's a collector's edition I want to splash out for (extremely rare) that doesn't sell out in five seconds.
@Sunsy One of the things I like about traveling is seeing historic sites, places, markers, etc. Even for some local or mundane stuff. It makes me glad to see older buildings preserved and given new life, even if they've went through several add-ons and restorations.
That scene in Inside Out 2 did hit very hard, didn't it? Techniques like what Riley used are really good ways to get out of our heads and focus on something else with our bodies or environments.
Super late now. Extremely sleepy but also full of energy. I can’t stop thinking about the Sonic 3 trailer and imagining how fun it’ll be seeing it in theaters. I saw the second one in theaters, so I am very much looking forward to seeing this one in theaters too. I am hoping that seats will be full, cuz everyone is hyping this one up and I can definitely tell that there’s a lot of excitement for this one out of all the films. I also feel like buying a Sonic game on my Xbox all the sudden.
Also, has anyone eaten caramel cold brew M&Ms? I ate a bag today and they are heavenly lol. Probably my new favorite candy right now alongside king-size Hershey chocolate bars. The M&Ms are always heavily discounted at the store I get them at. Only a few cents per bag! It’s very much worth it when I want to satisfy my sweet tooth and want something small.
@Tyranexx Refreshing solves almost every problem haha. The 502 errors don’t really bother me since it’s easy to solve. I actually got one right now, but I fixed it!
I am so bad with handling money, especially when it’s at a store I like a ton like Daiso. I need to stay away from art stores to resist the urge to buy a ton of stuff I won’t use. I was on an oil paint fixation once and I bought way too many things that I didn’t even use, so it was a ton of money that went down the drain! Luckily I have avoided doing that again and buying a ton of pricey stuff I will never use. I only buy stuff I know I will use in art, like pens or something.
The forums are nice, I go on these way more than the comments. If you look at my profile, I have wayyyy more thread replies than article comments. There’s a lot of good people and discussions on these forums and the comment sections, but I can agree that some article comment sections can get like that, probably way too often than forums. Way before I made an account on here and just viewed articles as a guest maybe 3 to 4 years ago, some comment sections got super off-topic from what the article was about. I sometimes do worry what I say goes off-topic. I remember I was on this “last game you beat” thread back in April on on of NL’s sister sites, and I was writing about a Rare game I finished at the time, and I was chatting on there nonstop with a friend of mine about how much we liked Rare and their games, but I did worry a bit that I got super off-topic on what the thread’s subject was about. I just try to make sure I leave one comment related to the subject and then leave, unless I get a reply that I want to write back to.
Interesting story. I really like hearing a lot about people’s histories with the game consoles they had. Me and my family used to be Nintendo and PlayStation gamers, my dad has a PlayStation 5, and in the past he had a PlayStation 4, a Vita and a PlayStation 3 he was supposed to get fixed but never did. I think with the 4 he transferred his data to the 5 and likely traded it in, cuz I don’t see that thing anymore. He still is more of a PlayStation gamer to this day and less of a Nintendo gamer. I think he gave the Vita to my brother, but I need to find it. I played the PlayStation way less as the years went on to the point I unfortunately don’t care about it anymore. I still think what Sony is doing with the PlayStation is cool, a lot of the games look cool, but I don’t play it anymore, and it’s also probably because of my gaming preferences too. Most of my time was occupied by the Switch around the time I started to play the PlayStation 4 less.
Yeah I liked Game Pass, it did have some value when I had it, but the new pricing is making me not really want it’s renew. I unfortunately cancelled the original sub and had planned to get it back, but then they hit everyone with a price hike and them removing the cheapest sub with one with less games and making it a bit more pricey. There is a $1 Game Pass Ultimate for 14 days deal I will probably get sometime next month, but I need to find the right time for it. I’ve been a bit too busy and I want to play online games with my friends when I find the right time for it. I almost can never play online games anymore, unfortunately they have become inconvenient with my schedule and I can’t play without getting interrupted, and the worst part is you can’t pause.
@Pastellioli summer has come and gone? I couldn’t tell. It was 48 Celsius all-day. It’s probably gonna take a few more months for the heat to calm down here. “Chilly” is not even remotely close here unfortunately. Be that as may be.
Like it says in the book, we are blessed… and we are cursed.

finished the kamen rider set as in watching it or collecting it? Amazing either way. I’m still curious what the sailor moon set looks like. I can only guess it looks adorable.
Like it says in the book, we are blessed… and we are cursed.
@Yousef- well, technically it is still summer lol. I went out and it is still burning but it’s chilly too! A nice breeze and some nice sunlight. It won’t be officially fall until midway through the month, so I need to wait a few weeks now.
It gets super cold nearing the nighttime, it feels way more like fall than in the morning. Today here the weather is apparently going to get increasingly worse as time goes on However, I am glad August is over, cuz it’ll get cooler and we inch a bit more closer to December and Sonic 3
@Yousef- i finished the collection of the CSM replica props/toys. They are for adult collectors so I hesitate to call them toys. They are still in box until I figure out where to put them (gonna have to put up shelving, I think). I have all the ones for Gaim.
For the sailor moon set I have set C D and E. (edit apparently I have A as well. Way too many sailor moon statues/figures.) Also I just realized I had a typo in that post so that was probably confusing to others. Sigh.
Only thing left is I have a few large LEGO sets and the Master Sword Proplica and I’m going to take a break from large collections for a little while. I am praying Sailor Moon leaves me alone as that is my one weakness. But I have a house full of statues, figma, proplica and plates/dinnerware so I should be ok…I think. I feel my inner child is mostly satisfied.
To the thread: Y’all WTF. I just found out there is a Harold and the Purple Crayon movie and he is an adult. That’s it. Stop selling my childhood! (I say this on a post where I am talking about a collection that cost several thousands of dollars. Yes I realize I am part of the problem.)

@Ryu_Niiyama that SM set looks divine. As a lifelong fan of the sailor scouts, this is a treat to see. Appropriate merch in my book.
I didn’t know about the CSM actually. That looks extremely cool. Even if they’re toys that’d be cool still. But it’s also interesting to learn they’re for adults. That’s some really cool merch.
I’m trying to get the Digimon and Jujutsu Kaisen TCG, just for collecting purposes. I’ve stopped playing TCGs long ago.
@Yousef- well, technically it is still summer lol. I went out and it is still burning but it’s chilly too! A nice breeze and some nice sunlight. It won’t be officially fall until midway through the month, so I need to wait a few weeks now.

Ah, I understand what you mean. Yeah it’s getting a bit chilly during sunrise. Sonic 3 movie will be awesome and I’ll likely see it thrice but that trailer could not be any worse even if it tried. The movie is clearly gonna be awesome, and this was obviously a poor editing choice on the behalf of the trailer editing team. But I cannot stomach how cringey the delivery was and how they never allow a moment of sincerity. Hopefully this isn’t an omen. I’m sure the movie Will be phenomenal. Shadow is my favorite character.
@Yousef- oh and also, how was your August? I didn’t really get to talk to you. Mine was good, did some pretty fun stuff a few weeks ago!
My august was awesome, awful, amazing, terrible, okay, average and all around pretty fun. Has its ups and downs just like every month. Hard to recount events of 30 days but it’s been quite adventurous to say the least.
When you’re working a 7-2 (our version of a 9-5 job but our shifts ends at 1:45 but that’s too long to type so I just round it up to 2) things get pretty samey every month. I’ve been working for 13 months and things are pretty samey with some occasional excitement. Going to movies is awesome, Deadpool is my favorite comic book character of all time right after the Green Lantern and Superman, so the new movie was incredible to me. I understood all the comic book references, including the reference to “Deadpool Saves the Marvel Universe” which is one of my favorite Deadpool comics of all time so I geeked out and fangirled extremely hard. My dad also had a jolly ol time.
My calmest time is at work. It’s at home where I feel I have too much free time. Even sitting at cafes doesn’t do it for me anymore because I’m not a college student anymore. My coworkers are super relaxing to talk to. Definitely a great destresser from my life and my non-work is exponentially stressful.
I cook a lot. Chicken is awesome. I’ve perfected my chicken tikka marination recipe. It was sitting in the fridge being marinated for 36 hours and came out super tender and juicy. Made a wrap out of it.
I’ve also been binging all of Naruto. Hence the pfp. It’s close to being my favorite anime of all time. I’m gonna try binging bleach as well as read some manga and binge Fullmetal alchemist. And gurren Lagann. Last year I binged dragon ball kai. This year I made it all the way to OG Naruto and started shippuden yesterday and having a blast since I prefer it over the OG.
Like it says in the book, we are blessed… and we are cursed.
@Yousef- I do wish that trailer did show a bit more of Keanu Reeves’ performance as Shadow, but given how hyped the movie is and how it’s main focus is on introducing him, I am not really surprised they didn’t let us hear a lot of his performance. I didn’t really laugh at the jokes in there, but oh well, at least we finally got a look at the film after so many months passed. I am hyped to see it with my brother. We already planned that we are getting tickets beforehand and getting seats when it releases. I am hoping they do good with the movie. I think it has the chance to be the best out of the three. I really like that the films are becoming more “Sonic” and less “Sonic in the real world.” I think a lot of older film adaptations usually mess up on that aspect, making the film it’s adapting a bit close to the source material and having the world and universe few extremely different than the universe in the video game it’s adapting. Now, the Sonic movies are using way more elements from the games alongside the original elements, and it’s great so far! It’s crazy to think how we went from that atrocious first trailer from 2019 with ugly Sonic now to a super hyped and followed movie bringing Shadow to the big screen.
Going to the movies is definitely fun, but I wish there were more movies that interested me this year rather than Sonic 3, but that’s just a “me” problem. I surprisingly never saw Inside Out 2 despite liking the first one a lot, and they are releasing a sequel to Moana in only two months but I also don’t really have an interest in it either! Seeing movies on the theater with everyone on the big screen is so amazing, but it’s maybe been two years since I last went to one in-person. The last one I saw was Sonic 2 (coincidentally) back in April when it released. I don’t know, a lot of what releases nowadays isn’t of my interest except for a few. I occasionally visit a forum on a different site dedicated to movies, and I hear of a lot of these cool new movies starring the most famous and popular celebrities and everyone talking about how excited they are, but I don’t have anything to say, but it’s probably from how I don’t watch movies a lot. I don’t know what movies would interest me a lot. I like comedic stuff, so maybe I could find something, but I don’t know which ones would be up my alley.
More about my August: it was good, but I had to get back to working a bit more, but pretty nice. If I can recall most of it, I played Conker again at the start of month because of the game club and had a blast (but the game honestly sucks at being a game with its hit or miss gameplay), played a ton of Perfect Dark Zero’s multiplayer offline, watched a few of Fox’s X-Men movies with my family after my brother saw Deadpool and Wolverine, went on a short achievement hunting spree on some games, took way too long to change my avatar on here, and ate a lot of junk food, Thai food, and sugar for my birthday. My mind is a bit fuzzy, so I can’t recall almost everything, but that is most of the memorable stuff I recall happening. It was great! I got some nice art materials too that I am using right now. I spent a lot of the day drawing. I’m probably going to hop onto Banjo-Tooie tomorrow. It’s getting too late over here.
Ooh, cooking. I would love to cook way more dishes, fancier ones than the ones I usually make. Today I made a soup with lentils, onions, jalapeño and chorizo with my mom. It tasted good, but it was super spicy and made my nose runny, plus I couldn’t taste the chorizo from how small and dispersed it was in it. She thinks the meat would be tasted way more if we had a second pack of chorizo. I never expected it to be so small when cooked. I wish I had made rice to go with it, but the rice with some beans that we were cooking yesterday didn’t cook right cuz we made it the wrong way, and the leftover rice we had from a few days ago was finished. We were supposed to make the soup days ago, but we weren’t able to because of the time we had and being super busy. I also wish we had enough cheese, because the lentil soup was supposed to be more like a chili…Cooking duds disappoint me a lot, but at least you learn what to not do the next time you make it.
I have heard of chicken tikka masala, but I don’t think I’ve really eaten it. I have eaten a bit of Indian food at an Indian restaurant where I am, and what I’ve eaten is amazing. Naan is so good…Usually it’s the restaurants focusing on making cuisine and dishes from other countries that taste super good. I also recall having Greek or Mediterranean food last month and that was amazing. It was rice, some spicy vegetables, lamb, hummus and I think pita bread. The pita bread was big and like a tortilla, so I put the rice, lamb, and hummus into the pita and ate it like a makeshift taco and it was so good. I’d love to eat there again.
Oh, anime, I haven’t watched anything anime recently, I said I was going to but never got to any. I think after a prolific Japanese voice actress named Atsuko Tanaka passed last month unfortunately, I said I was going to binge-watch the first season of an anime called JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (which she was in) as a tribute and even put in on a watch list but I didn’t even get into it yet, and I was obsessed with it years before. Never watched Naruto, but I have seen clips of it. I did used to have manga, but not a ton. I had the Splatoon manga, but I gave my only copy of it away to my cousin, and I think she has a full set of the mangas in English. We also had a manga of Twilight Princess (though that one was for my brother) and a manga for a video game called Yokai Watch, but that last one went missing and the first one is somewhere. I never really read manga, also cuz there isn’t any im interested in reading and really want to spend money on.
@Pastellioli couldn’t agree more. And sadly the reason why that happens has actually little to do with how much they wanna be faithful to the material. They can be extraordinarily faithful and have a passionate group, but corporate agenda will take over. Specifically the Hollywood one. Hollywood for years has had this bizarre paranoia with fictional characters. Specifically masked heroes and cartoon animals. I’ve mentioned this before. But Hollywood has a gigantic paranoia over these “faceless” characters hogging the spotlight. “Faceless” means no human faces. Meaning they can’t put an actor’s face on it and market said actor more easily. I’m not necessarily demonizing this practice. I understand why it happens. It’s just that it’s important to know about it at all as to feel less frustrated about them being “unfaithful”. It also explains why the jokes can take priority. It’s just a Hollywood-ism, if you feel.
As for your august:
Cooking is amazing. It’s basically art.
Lamb is divine. It’s awesome that you’ve liked it. Super common in Kuwait obviously and the other stuff you’ve mentioned. We have an Arab/Indian mixed cuisine, with obviously a lot of kuwaiti-original dishes.
Naruto and Jojo are awesome. I look forward to when you eventually get to them.
Like it says in the book, we are blessed… and we are cursed.
@Yousef- Having a group of producers and filmmakers that are extremely passionate about the source material and treating it right is sometimes super rare, but it sometimes gets ruined by executives or big companies. I have heard way too many film stories of people trying to make a film as good as it can be and then getting ruined by executives and forced to change things that make the final product bad or mediocre. I think that the Sonic films have been directed by Jeff Fowler, and I think he has had some (albeit small) involvement with Sonic before, specifically he did CGI work on that Shadow game from 2005, and I think he sounds super passionate toward the source material and I’d say that through his direction, he has done a terrific job so far. I can imagine some of the people they got to work on those movies also care about handling the films right.
Can understand that criticism with Hollywood. I think I recall you telling me something like that a few months ago when I was talking about the wedding subplot in the second Sonic movie that had the animal characters out of commission for a few minutes. There are a lot of things Hollywood is known for commonly doing in their films or just the culture there in general. One criticism toward them is always wanting sequels when they are sometimes unnecessary or ordering a ton of remakes for previously successful movies and wanting the same results from a lack of originality and looking to make quick cash (looking at you, Disney). On top of the lack of originality, I also think the sincerity of the work is why. Because, the originals had work into them and the effort was genuine and sincere. With most remakes, they tend to lack all of that and it’s easy to tell what is a cash grab and what isn’t.
I pretty much love any meat. I often eat chicken though, but there is pork I need to cook soon. Hoping it’s good. Asian cuisine is probably my favorite cuisine from another country. I have tried Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and Chinese, but I haven’t really tried Japanese. I have had ramen, but it’s a more American version. I haven’t had a lot of Japanese dishes now that I think about it. As a quick correction, I actually ate Vietnamese food last month, it wasn’t Thai. I ate Thai last year.
I’ll probably watch an anime when I draw later today! I’m just listening to music at the moment. But I’ll probably go to bed once I finish outlining a part of my drawing. Luckily I’m almost finished and ready to share the art on another NL thread
@Pastellioli Depends on the problem, but refreshing fixes 502 errors for me too...usually. Have you considered budgeting when it comes to your art hobby? That way you can pick/plan out what you really need/want and not have to worry about throwing away too much disposable income at once. Easier said than done I know. :sweat_smile
The forums here show that there actually are sane online spaces for a great discussion. Generally it is good to stay on topic, but then we have threads like this where users can waffle about pretty much whatever as long as it's within the site's rules. Then of course there are very old threads where they say it's generally better to start a new topic than to necro the old posts ones.... Especially if people start responding to others who probably haven't visited here in years lol.
I kind of got into gaming on my own; neither of my parents really gamed. My siblings did somewhat back in the day, but they really don't anymore outside of the rare mobile title. Gaming is my main hobby even in adulthood, once work related stuff and adult responsibilities are out of the way. I think that's neat you grew up in a dual Nintendo/Sony household. Conversely we never had TV consoles until the Wii, though I would have loved a PlayStation. I really wanted a PSP or Vita at one point, but they were expensive, had a lot of proprietary things you needed to buy (such as special memory cards), and most of the franchises that were on them I wasn't into back then. You had a lot of PS access, which must have been cool/useful indeed.
That is very unfortunate about Game Pass, but I suppose it was only a matter of time with all the price hikes in pretty much every industry right now. I say go for that $1 Game Pass Ultimate deal, but in your own time and at your own discretion. Online sessions can be hard to arrange when we have many responsibilities, but it is doable! Schedules just need worked with...sometimes a lot, and with many delays. Typing from experience here.
Hello! Just finished a drawing while watching JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure! FINALLY. I can’t believe it took me this long to make a finished picture and watch that anime. It took me two months to make a finished picture thanks to this art block I’ve been having. I’m proud of the art, I would share it right now but I can’t since it’s too late to take pictures, so I’ll wait for tomorrow. Can’t wait to share!
@Tyranexx I never have thought of budgeting with my art hobby. Usually when I was smaller (and even now) when I come across an art section of a store, I take so long with choosing stuff and I don’t have a plan of what to buy beforehand. With stuff like the oil paints, it was a bit of a “fad” for me. I wanted it after I saw people making art with it, spent WAY too much of my money and then realized after wasting all that money that they weren’t for me, plus I lacked necessary supplies like oil for cleaning brushes off after using the paint, so a lot of my paintbrushes were unusable after. I could do that, even though I don’t really have any art materials I want to buy right now. Only the necessary stuff and stuff I’m familiar with would be good instead of some random high-end art supply I’ve never used that I have a 50/50 chance of liking and not liking when using it. Inexpensive art supplies and even office supplies are good for art. My recent piece used a lot of ballpoint pens and gel pens I bought at Dollar Tree and Walmart! My favorite art material has swapped a lot. I used to like markers, then colored pencils and markers, now oil pastels and very recently gel pens and ballpoint pens. I really want to go back to markers one day, but I need to find a way to make it fit my current art style.
I have heard of that a lot! I sometimes look at old threads that haven’t been updated in years and then someone comes in and leaves a comment in an attempt to revive the thread, and other people come in and recommend that they start a new one, since it’s useless to revive it if everyone else that participated in the thread hasn’t responded in years. Some old threads are still around though and still get comments to this day!
My dad gamed a lot years ago, but he has had less time to do so. My mom also played games with us, but she isn’t a gamer, and it’s been years since she last touched a game controller, though she plays some games on her phone occasionally. My brother is sorta like my dad too; loves gaming a lot but doesn’t have all the time for it. My sister had way more free time than all of us though with gaming. Yeah, I did play the PlayStation a lot back then, though with the Vita the only game I really played was Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. I had a lot of good memories with the PS4, I recall playing LittleBigPlanet 3 with my siblings and we nearly finished it, but after my brother wiped the PS4’s memory clean to trade it in for a game we sadly never finished it in the end. I had a ton of gaming sessions in Overwatch with my dad and his friends before things went downhill over the years in that game, and I played random games like Gang Beasts and some game where you play as a cat and have to damage stuff around a house within a time limit. There are way more memories I have, but I can’t list them all. I absolutely loved the PlayStation, but I have not played it at all recently. I never really played the exclusives, my dad had a lot of them, but I did not ask to play them because I sort of wasn’t into them besides LittleBigPlanet. I know that there probably would have been a game that would have been up my alley like Ratchet & Clank. I’ve been a Nintendo fan forever, and only recently I became an Xbox fan too. I should maybe try a bit more games on the Xbox.
Gaming is also one of my main hobbies alongside drawing, but I’ve played games way more than drawing recently. I just found with art that for me, I’m super slow and take way too long, and I especially feel like I wasted time if I spent a long time on a drawing only for it to end up looking bad. I feel like that gaming doesn’t take long and that I accomplish more things when I play, plus I get less annoyed at it too. It’s a bit sad that I have found myself disliking drawing at times, I still love it, I will keep doing it, but I’ve found it has been annoying me sometimes and I’ve also found myself having to do other stuff. I almost always waste time when I’m about to draw because of so many things I want to draw, but I can’t imagine them well enough or vision how what I want to draw will look in my style. I want them to look a certain way, but I just can’t replicate that look onto paper. Plus, seeing how fast everyone pushes out art on social media and can seemingly draw anything sort of contributes to my current feelings toward art. I also want to practice, but a lack of time never lets me.
I am disappointed with Game Pass, but maybe it isn’t so surprising that they did that, because Game Pass has, in recent years, been known to have price hikes that are so constant that they annoy a lot of their userbase, and the annoyance and criticism is very understandable. I chose to cancel the cheapest tier at the worst time…I am probably going to get that deal soon, but maybe not until next week or two weeks later, because I’ll have more free time one of those weeks. I am excited, mostly for the online sub that goes with the Ultimate deal because there is a friend that has been considering playing online with me, but because I don’t have an online sub, we can’t yet, but probably very soon! I need to find a good time and do it right, and make sure that he is also free. He is gaming a lot, completing games back and forth super fast, but he says that he has been a bit busy, so he can’t respond to my messages super fast, plus we live in different countries with different time zones, so I could be up in the morning, but he could be up at night and getting ready for bed. I am hoping that I can still find a good date for our online gaming session though.
@Pastellioli huh, should’ve pinged me about jojos. That’s awesome, it’s a pretty great show. Starts fantastic and is a joyride through and through.
Yeah, it was me who informed you about R&C being potentially your thing. Glad you seem to be warming up to it. It’s a phenomenal ps2 trilogy.
Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is actually my favorite kart racer. I love the larger emphasis on skill based racing rather than just items. Even the items are really fun.
I don’t think I’ll sub to GP again. I’m not in a position to justify a subscription anymore. Just got too much going on atm.
Like it says in the book, we are blessed… and we are cursed.
