Good weekend for me, though I was away from home most of Sunday. Went to a family reunion and did a lot of hiking on a nearby trail system to work off some of the potluck lol. I also got to see my younger grandmother - she lives close by - and my nephew too. No, I'm not biased. At all.
@Anti-Matter I agree that the Super Mario Galaxy life resets are a little annoying, though it is easy to grab a few 1-up mushrooms around Rosalina's hub world to help mitigate that. I can't recall offhand how Galaxy 2 handles that since I've not played it recently (just revisited the first game last year as part of Super Mario 3D All-Stars). That behavior isn't unusual for the Mario series. I prefer the first over the second since the latter feels a little like DLC; if it had released a few years later, that may well have been the case.
I like the Mario franchise. It isn't my favorite by any stretch, but I enjoy the platformers and the RPG spinoffs. I like the occasional Mario Kart session too, but I'm not into the sports games at all.
It could be you find Princess Peach: Showtime relaxing; I get that way with a game sometimes. I did try the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince demo while I was on vacation. It was a fun monster collector sort of like Pokemon. I'll probably grab it on discount sometime. I also ordered Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and will do a test run of that game soon. It's a roguelike dungeon crawler, sort of like Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon.
@MarioVillager92 Sounds like your time with TotK is scratching a similar itch where XC3's post-game and DLC are concerned for me. I just booted this game up again over the weekend after almost 1.75 years lol. I bought the DLC in June during some of the summer sales. I'm leaving Future Redeemed until last though; I want to finish Ys VI first and get used to XC3's combat system again. Glad you found that Bubbul Gem side quest!
Knoebels's ticket system reminds me even more of a carnival atmosphere lol. Not a bad thing, just something I'm not used to with many theme parks I've been to. Some rides have cost extra, but typically the admission gets you onto most rides at no extra charge. The teacups sound more my speed. I think the last time I rode something like that was at Disney many, MANY moons ago. I'd like to go back to Disney World sometime. I think the force at 5k miles an hour would kill someone without a ton of protection lol. And maybe a pressure chamber.
I think Super Mario Galaxy is tied with Super Mario Odyssey for my favorite 3D Mario. Which is saying something since I've played them all at this point. SMG is more linear, but I love the mechanics at play as well as Rosalina's hub world and backstory. Conversely, SMO has more freedom and variety.
@Pastellioli Yeah....I don't really pay leakers much mind. Most do it just for brownie points. I don't work in the video game industry, but the one I do work in involves customer integrity and confidence. Which leaking is the complete opposite of. I value my own honesty over 15 minutes of Internet clout. I did catch rumbles of those two controversies. The Pyoro one especially. They shouldn't have leaked their source, and what happened is mostly on them. But I don't think much of the journo that outed them either. Midori I kept track of less but heard it was a guy posing as a girl or something.
To be fair to many parents, them not checking a game's content that they might find objectionable is less on their laziness and more than modern life is busy enough already. I fully plan to expose my nephew to some gaming when he's old enough - following his parents' wishes on screen time obviously - but I will be very careful about age ratings and what games he can play too. Ultimately, I just want to expose him to many different things and see what kind of person he becomes.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
Finally my heartburn is gone...AND I'm having some chicken & rice. Gotta eat some foods that'll be easier on stomach but even...I wasn't expecting to get a bad heartburn after having the stomach flu.
But all-in-all, I'm feeling fine. So I'm gonna play Lumines 2 (which came in today) on my PSP. It's old but still works. But I'm gonna get another in the future.

@Tyranexx I kept track of that Midori situation too much since I sometimes used to roam a forum on another site that was dedicated to game leaks, and in that community, the Midori thing was pretty big since that guy was one of the more reliable leakers. I believe he was known for leaking Sega and Atlus info, but his validity and reputation was questioned after he got some info wrong, and low and behold it was a guy posing as a Japanese girl. I remember reading that the guy was actually notorious way before he took up the Midori moniker, and he was a huge fan of Sega so much that he wanted to work there, but he didn’t get any jobs there and was never hired, but he started to harass Sega workers just to get his job (like staying on their campuses and trying to get into their WiFi networks) and it was so bad that they had to update their harassment policy. Because of the bad stuff he did, he chose to leak stuff shortly after under a different persona and name to avoid trouble that might be associated with his actions. When he was revealed to have been posing as someone else, he tried to blame it on other things to not take any responsibility for his behavior.
The Pyoro one was pretty big back in that forum too, the shock that someone with a 100% correct track record was wrong and threw a rant online and pretty much got all of his info and sources revealed from a multitude of people. I think it was the way those two acted that made me stop looking at leaks, cuz I just realized the people that do these things only do it for clout, even going as far as to fake leaks. Good thing that Nintendo is going to take more action against leaks and improve security, since I think the Pyoro one had something to do with that statement they made back in June.
Well, I hope that your nephew can play lots of good and fun games when he gets older! I wonder what game genres he will like a ton.
@FishyS there were never reliable ones to begin with… the game was rigged from the start!
(Don’t take this message seriously, it’s a quote from fallout >.>)
On a more serious note, leaks… rumors… nope, never trusted them, always waited for the truth. Reality doesn’t care about leaks.
Finally my heartburn is gone...AND I'm having some chicken & rice. Gotta eat some foods that'll be easier on stomach but even...I wasn't expecting to get a bad heartburn after having the stomach flu.

I just saw your comment. My English is bad so I dunno what heartburn is but I hope it’s nothing dangerous, I hope you are fine. Unhealthy foods are baaaad >.>
Rice & chicken is so good, my favorite thing to eat. I love it’s different in every culture. In Kuwait it’s yellow rice, very delicious.
I need to play on my psp again. Mainly driver and Chinatown wars. Maybe NBA or fifa streets. <.<
@Yousef- After what happened with the leaking, I saw that leaks were unreliable to begin with, and leaker culture seems all over the place after seeing how those two leakers got exposed, and given one of them harassed game developers because he couldn’t get a job at Sega…yeah, that gave me a reason to not follow leaks anymore.
If you want to know what heartburn is, it’s a burning sensation that happens in the chest, and it’s caused by acid reflux in the esophagus. Some of the main causes I’ve read are related to types of food, like chocolate or fried food. I read that occasional heartburn isn’t severe, but it’s still not good and heartburn happening frequently is a huge problem. It gets its name from it feeling like the burn is from the heart, or the burn being in the chest area near the heart, though heartburn never happens in the heart luckily. I eat chocolate and sweets too much right now, so it looks like I might need to stop soon 😨
@Yousef- I haven’t had heartburn at all, but it does sound super awful and I really don’t wanna get it so I’m going to have to stop having sugar and chocolate so much in my diet. I ate a chocolate chip cookie today and nearly ate an entire bag of Hershey’s Kisses a few days ago and I found out about this heartburn info now…I need to stop eating so much sugar, especially before my birthday…
@Yousef- I’m not sure yet, I would maybe say Rare Replay but I played and completed a lot of the games in there that I was excited for, though I did say that I wanted to get more achievements for it. I need to find some games on the Xbox that are similar to the 3D Rare platformers that I’ve played, cuz I have started Conker’s Pocket Tales and I’m not having fun with it right now…it’ll probably get better when I actually know what to do. Maybe I’ll go to the recommendations thread and hope that someone comes in and gives me a few games I could play on the Xbox.
@Pastellioli my list:
-Dead Rising: Deluxe Remaster (comes out in two months)
-Lollipop Chainsaw (comes out in a few months)
-Dragon Ball Z: Sparking Zero (comes out in October)
@Yousef- Unfortunately, there is simply not enough time in the world to get round the games I want to play😂
In fact in terms of new releases, Super Mario Party Jamboree is the only thing I'll be picking up.
I've got more than plenty going on for multiple systems to warrant picking up much more!
@Yousef- My favorite rice is basmati rice. I do want to try Australian wild rice one of these days. My specialty is usually just ground meat seared over a pan & served with rice. Ground beef, pork, or lamb is my preferred meat. Venison...not so much. But I wanna use ground bison next though.

wow, been a while since ive seen the chit chat thread NOT in in the recently active forums. hows everyone doing :3
i had a pretty chill day myself. I just watched the last episode of the Umbrella Academy Season Three, and oh my god what a cliffhanger!! glad i only have to wait two days for season 4. an amazing show, the character development is wonderful and the plot is so wacky and weird and i just love it. also speaking of movies i saw deadpool and wolverine a few weeks ago ahhhhhhh so good. whole theatre was laughing 😸
Ive been in a gaming drought recently. really excited for nintendos busy fall since its filled with new games, and my birthday too. dont have much money to be spending right now unfortunately. however ive been playing a LOT of animal crossing which is my ultimate comfort game. been making my house an eras tour house and i got rooms for speak now and repuation done and working on 1989 :3 soo fun so far. also been dabbling in NWC but it can get repetitive sometimes sadly. still great game for a great price!! I also want to get more games for a sega master system i got from my grandmother, i have one (space harrier) which is fun but so difficult !!
ive been really into piano recently just mastered singing and playing loml by taylor swift and im working on kaleidoscope by chappell roan but phew its hard. tutorials by hugo is an excellent channel to learn from though! i love chappell roan sm. ive also been getting into beach bunny and charli xcx recently-both highly recommend!! also this artist called genevieve stokes is amazing, small indie artist, but i love their album Swimming Lessons.
anyways sorry for the yap session, bored 😸😸😸

@OctolingKing13 Cool to hear you're a bit of ✨️ musician ✨️, I also play piano and am working towards Grade 7. They can sometimes be a bit of a drag but it's a little easier this time as the new syllabus includes video game music in the selection.
For Grade 7 that piece is 'To Zanarkand' from Final Fantasy X and it's a beauty to play. But tbh I'm already looking to Grade 8 as they have Coconut Mall as one of the pieces. What are the chances of that!!
Can't say I'm a Swiftie although I respect her as an artist.
Spent yesterday logging my game collection, on the one hand it's nice to see them all in one place but on the other, I'm a little horrified at the true extent of my backlog😵💫
Yesterday I did try to game a bit, but didn't do much. Just booted up a few Rare games and played those for a little. I did replay of Conker's Bad Fur Day a few days ago for a game club on one of Nintendo Life's sister sites, Pure Xbox. I had a good time re-experiencing it again, though discussion in the game club has been dead...so far it has only been me and one of the game club heads who played the game and discussed it a bit, but I think he is already playing other games so no one has replied to the game club forum since Sunday. Some people in the club dropped the game already or are busy with stuff, so the club hasn't been as fun as I hoped it would be. It makes me disappointed since I was looking forward to talking about this game with other people Though Pure Xbox is one of the least popular Hookshot sites. I am hoping discussion does pick up a bit since August just started and there could be some people wanting to play the game and are waiting to have a chat.
I do not know what else to play right now after completing Conker again. I could do a third playthrough, but the gameplay is honestly hit or miss, and I wish they had gone through with making a sequel. There was this obscure game that came before Bad Fur Day called Conker's Pocket Tales that has a kiddy tone, I decided to try it out since Conker is all I can think of right now, but so far I am not enjoying it because it is so confusing and bad at explaining the controls and some stuff, but I am still going to attempt playing it and using a walkthrough. I have been playing Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! on my phone, still been enjoying that but I'm just waiting for some songs I like to be added to the game. I probably am going to ask for some recommendations for games on my Xbox on another forum here since I want something that is a bit tonally similar to Conker, or just a nice 3D platformer game. The Microsoft store does show a bit of other older and retro platformer games when I browse the store for some Rare titles, so maybe those could be up my alley. They are inexpensive too!
Have heard of the Umbrella Academy, I never watched it, but I have heard of it and some of its characters because a guy I saw on YouTube drew in a small sketchbook that consisted of gouache portraits of the show's main characters. For shows and movies, I haven't seen anything yesterday or today, but I have been in the mood to watch more stuff. I saw The Matrix last month and enjoyed it a lot, and a few weeks ago I saw The Truman Show and rewatched Mr. Peabody and Sherman. A pretty random selection of movies I've watched, but I did enjoy them nonetheless. My brother has seen Deadpool and Wolverine, and a lot of people have mentioned it a lot on the movie thread here. I haven't seen it, but from what I've seen in clips the movie looks hilarious. It seems a bit rare to find superhero movies besides the Deadpool movies that are funny and not overly serious. I think movie nights are fun, I remember watching The Matrix super late in bed on a computer with my headphones in and it was so relaxing and comfy. I want to watch the sequels, but my brother has said those were pretty bad.
I used to play piano. Me and my siblings used to practice instruments when we were younger and we had a music teacher that our dad would have us meet every week. We even got a keyboard and took some music book sheets home to practice to. Unfortunately, the music teacher kept going out of town and we stopped going eventually, and I have not played a piano in years. The keyboard ended up losing its power cord and the books went missing, so I don't play piano anymore. I can't imagine how bad the piano would sound if I played it again lol. If I were to play piano, I would probably just use it to learn how to play a few Vocaloid and video game songs.
On an unrelated note, I'm contemplating whether or not I want to change my avatar here and on other sites, but its only been since July since I have had this avatar on. Changing avatars is so fun.
@Nintoz wow awesome to see a fellow pianist here !! those pieces sound awesome! the only video game ones ive learned are Sweden from minecraft and the beginning of the animal crossing theme haha 😹 coconut mall sounds like it would be difficult to play !! also wonderful to see you respect taylor swift, a lot of people hate her for no reason unfortunately. @Pastellioli ive heard great things about conkers bad fur day, alas i have no way to play it since i dont have an xbox. but i would love to play it since it seemed like it was revolutionary and in an interesting point in gaming history. the only phone game i really play is geometry dash, unfortunately i had to delete among us since it got to addicting :3 man, geometry dash is mighty hard but fun to pick up when boredom visits.
ive never watched the matrix, it seems good! yes deadpool was hilarious, but i was also surprised to see really emotional moments that seemed even more special due to the fast-paced actionyness of the rest of the movie.
oooh changing your avatar is so fun!! i havent done it in a while since people recognize people by avatars usually, but maybe ill change it up! my current one is an alice oseman drawing, who wrote heartstopper and many other amazing novels. however i was thinking of changing it to kirby, or possibly taylor swift again- the possibilities are endless! what are you thinking of changing your avatar too :3

@OctolingKing13 Conker is fun, but it is a bit outdated with the gameplay and level design and some of the humor is a bit outdated. I didn't mind the mature humor, mostly cuz it used it to subvert cliches and tropes, but there were maybe one or two jokes that I think were REALLY aged and questionable. I still think it is worth playing for some people, and it is a super impressive N64 game. If only it wasn't stuck on the Xbox though...there is a remake, and that one ironed out a lot of the gameplay issues I had with it. The best parts of the humor were the movie parodies, those came off as really cool but also goofy.
I used to play Among Us, I did way before it exploded in popularity a few years back. Me and my mom and siblings would always play private matches together, though I did play matches with people online too. It was fun, but it has been way too long since I have played it. My most played game on my phone is the Hatsune Miku rhythm game. I did try to get into other rhythm games, but they weren't my thing and I had such a hard time getting used to not having a lot of progress on them lol. Another game I did play was the mobile port of Sonic CD, which I completed and unlocked Tails as a playable character, but I didn't finish my playthrough with Tails on there. I sometimes play game emulators for classic games that haven't been re-released on modern consoles. I was playing Diddy Kong Racing back in April to June, but I haven't touched it since the controls on the emulator are so hard, so I'm just waiting for a possible NSO release that might convince me to get the Expansion Pack again. I also played Pocket Tales that way, but again, I am not liking it right now.
I'm probably going to change my avatar to another Conker avatar, cuz I think that does make my account a bit more recognizable. I think I've changed my avatar about five times now. If I remember, I had Conker as my avatar about four times now, and I pretty much have him as my profile picture on almost every other service and site I use lol. The one time he wasn't used on my avatar was back in June to sometime in July, as I had Banjo as my avatar around that period. I have been thinking of having a Vocaloid as my avatar though, however. Another one of my biggest interests!
