@Sunsy I quite enjoy the theater experience, even if it does involve going somewhere. I'd rather pay for a $5 movie once a month or so (and sometimes popcorn, though this is rare since I don't need a lot and their "small" size is what I'd call large lol) vs. relying on streaming alone. It's rare I stream a movie unless it's free through something. My local theater is a regional type setup; there are only three of them. There is an AMC theater 40ish minutes away, but it's extremely rare that I go to it. The distance kills any savings, plus they have a TON of previews.

@Tyranexx Replying to your other response, I do agree that honesty is the best way to go to avoid causing any possible trouble. I don't go telling my personal info online and my account is a bit anonymous, but everything I say and talk about I am completely honest about, and I would never go around using a fake online persona or masquerading as someone that I am not. Its sometimes done maliciously, and the Midori situation just shows how messy using a fake online persona is and how much trouble that it could land you in.

@MarioVillager92 Yes, a bit of the games in that compilation did come over to NSO and I do remember someone on one of the threads posted this pretty helpful list that marked down which of the NES and N64 games were on there...I'll come back and try to tell you which ones are already playable on Switch.

I forgot to add that if you do get Rare Replay digitally, you get GoldenEye 007 for free, but its a separate download from the compilation.

I 100%d Banjo on the Switch, so I don't really have a need to do the same for the Xbox port. I also did play the entire DKC trilogy, and I would say that was what made me like Rare a lot. I hadn't really played any of Rare's games before those, I remember me and my family having a 360 back in the early 2010s, and on there I can vividly remember playing a demo for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts but it wasn't the full game, so I technically did play a Rare game before, but at the same time I also didn't. I did play some of GoldenEye 007 on my Xbox, but I only did the first level and dropped it. Not that it was bad, but it isn't really a game I am not interested in, which is a bit surprising given I love Rare's older games a lot and also enjoyed the Perfect Dark games that came after, which I think the first one was a spiritual successor to GoldenEye.

EDIT: Here is the list of the NES and N64 games, bolded ones are for the ones playable on both Rare Replay and the Switch.

Slalom

R.C. Pro-Am

Cobra Triangle

Snake Rattle 'n' Roll

Solar Jetman

Digger T. Rock

Battletoads

R.C. Pro-Am II

Killer Instinct Gold

Blast Corps

Banjo-Kazooie

Jet Force Gemini

Perfect Dark

Banjo-Tooie

Conker's Bad Fur Day

They seem to be very close to adding all the NES and N64 games in Rare Replay to Switch, hoping that the remaining N64 games do show up on NSO

@Pastellioli I prize honesty very highly, which is why I don't think I could be a career politician lol. I also don't go yelling about my personal info online and do prefer to remain anonymous in most spaces for privacy and security reasons. To me, anonymity and faking it to make it are two very different things. I at least try to be genuine in all my interactions. The Midori situation is a good lesson on what NOT to do.

Fun fact: the first time I heard of "Midori" as a leaker, the first thing that popped into my head was the Guitar Hero character. XD

@MarioVillager92 Thanks! Ys is a fun action RPG series, though I can't recommend any games older than Ys VI - with the exception of Ys I & II Chronicles+ - since there are newer remakes/remasters of most of them that are considered the canon games. Unless one is a super fan and wants to experience the older games of course. Yes, I'd say you've hit the point where you should consult online sources regarding where you're stuck in XC2. It's a very good game, one I'd like to play again sometime, but IMO it also has the most flaws out of any Xenoblade.

I quite like visiting new places, though getting to said destinations can be challenging sometimes lol. Wooden rollercoasters can be quite rough, especially older ones. Not a subclass I'd recommend unless one has no alternative. They're that way by design; some people like how wild they feel, but the primary reason they're wiggly is to take some of the stress off the supports. All four of the main Disney World Parks are worth experiencing at least once IMO. Though the pricing has definitely become insane last I checked. No problem; experiences, positive and negative, can help shape us as people. Often for the better.

I am definitely not biased towards cats when it comes to Super Mario 3D World. XD I like the "meow" at the end of a level while wearing the power up too. In Sunshine, I didn't even try for all the Shine Sprites; just enough to get the ones I needed for the final boss, plus a few of the hub world extras. I think I tried the pachinko level twice and noped out both times. Overall, I'm glad I finally got the opportunity to play the game on Switch, but it's likewise my least favorite 3D Mario game. I fully understand why it's a controversial entry.

@Tyranexx I stay anonymous for those reasons too! I also do worry about security and privacy, so I avoid telling people super personal or easily identifiable info.

I think what differentiates anonymity with faking is its intentions I believe. People on this site like to stay anonymous to protect their personal info, but one interesting thing I have heard is that some people do that to also prevent unjustified judgement and possible consequences that might negatively affect them, and I think it especially helps with opinions on fun stuff like gaming, cuz on the internet there are so many people that will take harmless opinions seriously. Someone might say they dislike a popular game, and if that person has super identifiable info up like their name, someone else might take that opinion seriously and go to find personal info based on the name shown, like trying to find their location and release it online. But if the person stays anonymous, it’ll be harder for someone to find their personal info.

The faking it thing can have several different intentions, but it’s often done to fool people or if the person is controversial, get away from the consequences of bad stuff they did, which is what Midori did by pretending to be a Japanese girl, so you are absolutely right with both of those having huge differences with their intentions.

@Pastellioli The closest I typically get is what state/general part of the US I live in, and that isn't something I spout about often either. Some areas of my state are pretty populated, but I'm located in a more rural area. The closest major city many could probably point out on a map is about a two hour drive away. Not as remote as some, but I have to drive a fair distance for some chain stores that people take for granted (Ex. Target, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble).

Exactly: The primary difference is with the intentions. General anonymity is common sense IMO, plus there are some genuinely nasty people out there who can do all sorts of things with public information. I honestly worry about some of today's kids since they've never known the world without the internet. Which was also a thing in my early years, but I didn't have sorta normal internet access (Yay dial-up!) until I was in late junior high. I was old enough by then to understand the importance of anonymity, not to mention I think the internet was...well, probably not safe even then, but there were less dangerous options I think, plus social media was in its infancy. I only ever used it for homework, game news, and related forums.

Sadly, the internet is also full of many echo chambers. Woe is someone for having an opinion different than some circles - and this applies to more than just gaming too. I don't think the art of reasonable debate and disagreement is dead, but it definitely has faded in some areas. Human biases will always be a thing, but all the tribalism frankly drives me crazy.

@Nintoz Congratulations! It's always such a relief when a block of exams is finished.

@Pastellioli I think many use the #FanArtFriday hashtag. The DreamWorks account from another region found my trolls artwork that way too, lol. It also helps if you tag them in the post.

Indeed, it's a great cartoon. Come to think of it, I didn't watch the movie for ugly Sonic, I think I saw the article here about him, but it's been so long since I actually saw the movie and the article. I still remember the day I saw the original Sonic, I just shrugged it off as "Hollywood is being Hollywood to video games, again," then that second trailer came out. I really hope we get something on the next Sonic movie soon, can't wait to hear how Keanu does Shadow's voice.

Yeah, it's like having no rules makes it harder for people to behave which leads to suspensions and bans. Indeed, it's mods that help keep the forum safe, as well as having rules getting enforced. Can't count how many times I've seen a thread locked for advertising here, all because the person who just made the account, didn't bother reading the Community Rules that's linked at the bottom.

@Tyranexx Me too, I really just like going to theaters because it makes a movie feel like going to an event, rather than simply watching it at home. Trolls Band Together early access did not disappoint, both movie and the audience there. I don't think I'd ever been to a place with that many Trolls fans. Usually at home it's either on the few streaming services I have (Netflix and Peacock, I have the latter for WWE, but I also watch movies and shows on it) or DVDs, sometimes YouTube, I get surprised by some of the movies found under the "Free With Ads" category of movies.

Local theaters can be the best, few summers ago my friend and I saw a special summer showing of Trolls World Tour (a movie that skipped theaters had a showing in my area), and we ended up watching it at one of the oldest theaters in the state. I would not be surprised if it's considered a historic landmark, it's turning 100 in 2026.

@MarioVillager92 Neat, I have a friend who lives in Florida and I hope he gets to go to Super Nintendo World once it comes to Orlando. He's visiting at the end of the month, we usually play and talk games together. I use to see him regularly until he moved away, then it was online gaming. I want to visit Disney now. After meeting Poppy at Trolls x CAMP, I want to meet more of my favorite characters, both Disney and Universal, lol. That's alright, I really liked Star Fox Assault. Those foot missions worked better under the dual joystick setting rather than default controls. The story of Star Fox Assault had a lot of twists and turns I didn't even see coming, even a post credits ending.

They are easier to take care of. A lot of Disney movies for example, the Blu-Ray comes with the Blu-Ray, DVD, and a Digital Code. I register it with Movies Anywhere, and it goes onto any linked account. I could watch the movie on my phone, my Switch via YouTube. Universal does the same, as it was the same case with the Trolls movies. Plus, it puts less wear and tear on the DVD and Blu-Ray discs, and player, but I still have the DVD and Blu-Ray if I can't use the digital copy. It is easier to stream too. Yup, I even have Genesis games on my GBA with the Sega Smash Pack, Sega Arcade Gallery, and Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis, I have the Sonic Classic Collection on DS, and the 3D ones on 3DS. Sega has always been good at keeping most of their classics available in some form.

It was like some theaters got them, but not all theaters got them. Shame too since Disney rarely does re-releases of movies. Though, I could always find Illumination and DreamWorks movies shown during the summer months, that's how I saw Trolls World Tour in a theater.

It should have, Sonic games always start out with a Green Hill Zone of sorts. It was so weird to start the game and see "Underground Zone," lol. Ah yes, the spindash the loop to break the ground. I know one thing that would make a Sonic fan scream... the barrel of doom in Carnival Night Zone Act 2. How was I suppose to know I needed to press up and down? I was jumping trying to make it move.

Indeed, it was a really cool feature they added to both Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic Adventure DX. I feel the same way, being bullied as a kid was not fun. I was made fun of for liking Rugrats as a kid, the irony, everyone watched Rugrats when they were kids. Made no sense if I'm being honest.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

Thought I would pop in here and say hi again. I’m finally drawing again…and screwing up a bit lol but I am still going to try my best. It’s super hard for me to trust the process, but this time I’m going to try to since I haven’t drawn in a while. Hoping I can get the art done tomorrow or today and share it on one of the threads! Wish me luck

@Tyranexx You should see how people treat opinions on sites like Twitter, that place is one of the worst places you could every share your feelings on a piece of media or pretty much anything, especially if it’s big. Even if you give a logic explanation on your opinion and how you feel on something, there will always be people who harshly reject your opinion and don’t respect it, or someone lurking in the back, ready to find your personal info and leak it just because you said you didn’t like the Mario games and like a more obscure platformer game series. But I think it can also be people jumping to conclusions on someone’s opinion.

There was this tweet that I saw that would sometimes see around on the web version of Twitter (before they made it a requirement to make an account to use Twitter) that goes something along the lines of “Twitter is the place where opinions and statements can be manipulated” and the person saying that gave a pretty well done example, it was like “you could be asked if you like pancakes or waffles, and you say you like waffles, and the other person says “so you dislike pancakes?” That’s a new sentence, what are you talking about.” I can’t remember all of it since I have stayed a ton of feet away from Twitter, but it was something like that. You could say you just prefer something over another, and someone will just assume you dislike the other thing. In fact, you could actually like two things and just prefer one more over the other, but then someone will assume you hate one of them.

There also was this “bad music of the day” account I sometimes come across on Instagram and the music on there is judged by how it sounds, and I can remember the person running the account posted a song on there by a Korean music group and people in the comments jumped to conclusions that they didn’t like the artist’s ethnicity and were racist, but the account owner said that wasn’t what they were doing at all, and I am very doubtful that an account dedicated to posting songs that sound less than great would say a song is simply “bad” because of the artist’s race, also cuz the account also posted songs from non-Asian artists too, so how would the person ever be like that? Plus, jumping to conclusions and accusing someone of doing or being something bad or serious can be pretty damaging and harmful.

I am super anxious with how my info can be handled, so I of course try to keep it minor and avoid saying my real name or hinting at my real name. On Instagram, I simply kept my name as “A,” cuz I am a bit afraid of how some people might handle my info. I know that it’s not very likely someone will come out and use my real name against me or try to find personal info on me, also cuz I’m not a super well known person, but I think it’s very good that I am safe than sorry.

I do have biases with a lot of the media I like, but I wouldn’t ever harshly criticize someone who doesn’t like some of the games I like. If someone said that they hated Rare’s games, or a specific game from them like Banjo or Conker, I would just be fine and leave them alone, plus I can agree with a lot of criticisms some people have for those games.

@Sunsy I also didn’t watch the film only for Ugly Sonic, I think I was planning on watching it before they confirmed he was appearing in the film. Sometimes on Disney+ I randomly watch stuff for fun maybe once when I’m bored, and I just thought that the movie looked like some decent, silly ol’ fun. But, some of the cameos did make the film funny, and I did like some of the different animation styles and mediums they used for the characters there, though I remember a lot of criticism with the 2D animation simply being CGI made to look like 2D. I still thought it was great, I was expecting a possible sequel to it but that surprisingly hasn’t happened yet.

I still really want that trailer soon. I am now really REALLY looking forward to hearing Keanu Reeves in it after seeing The Matrix. It is a bit stuck in my mind right now lol.

I sometimes read the Community Rules a lot. I do know what not to do, but sometimes when I type something, I do worry a bit if I am accidentally breaking rules or not. I really don’t want to make the site unfun, or give anyone a bad time. Sometimes some things I have don’t need to be said. I remember posting this really unneeded comment on this vacation/goodbye thread, and I think now looking back on it, my comment really wasn’t needed and was super unconstructive. I really wish I didn’t comment, but I did, but I’ll at least be more careful with what I say and post. The moderation here can sometimes give you a good lesson on what to avoid commenting and how to act the next time. The mods are super kind, and they are just doing their job to make the site a fun place to chat and visit.

Hey, everyone, guess what? I got to meet Patricia Summersett (the voice of Princess Zelda) today at FanExpo in Chicago! She signed my First 4 Figures statue of Zelda from BOTW, my copies of BOTW, TOTK, and HWAOC, my TOTK OLED Switch, and a holographic poster of Zelda! Even got my photo with her! It cost a pretty penny, but it was worth it! She was very nice, and thanked me for being a lifelong fan of the Zelda series.

@AstroTheGamosian Seeing a voice actress or voice actor in-person and having them sign your stuff seems so fun and like a dream. My brother has never seen any voice actors or actresses in-person, but if I remember, a few years ago one of the English voice actresses for Jill Valentine in Resident Evil was doing this autographing thing where if you paid money, I think you would receive this artwork of Jill in the mailbox with her signature and a small message on it, and she’d also write the recipient’s name in the message, and my brother did that and it was such a cool thing to see her thank him in the message. Getting autographs from people who are in media you like or you admire will be such a cool thing to me.

@Nintoz Yeah, it was. As I said, she was a very lovely person, and we got to talking about how powerful of a moment it was when Zelda transformed into the Light Dragon. I mentioned that I found it admirable that she would sacrifice her humanity (Hylianity?) for the sake of her people; even her last conscious thought was "Protect them all!" She actually wrote that on the slip cover of my copy of TOTK (and in the hieroglyphs that they used in one of the games, she wrote "Open your eyes" on my copy of BOTW). I even said to her that I came up with the idea of Zelda turning into a dragon and reusing a previous Zelda game's map long ago, but emphasized that Nintendo doing that for TOTK was simply us operating on the same creative wavelength, and how it only solidifies my desire to work for them, which she thought was impressive.

I even briefly told her my idea for one more Zelda game set in the BOTW/TOTK version of Hyrule where you play as Zelda herself, trying to regain her powers after the Yiga Clan stole them from her to revive Ganondorf. That, as well as the light novel series I am trying to write that adapts the original Zelda game, but borrows elements from other Zelda games (with one of the main characters in the story being closer to their counterpart from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity than any other version of that character in the series, especially the original). She got a kick out of that. She also thought that it was sweet that I preordered two copies of Echoes of Wisdom and the Hyrule Edition of the Switch Lite (one for me, one for my girlfriend). And as we finished up our chat, she whispered into my ear, "Courage need not be remembered, for it is never forgotten." I simply said, "I agree," and thanked her in both English and Japanese (which she was also impressed by).

The other person I got to meet was Zach Aguilar (Tanjiro Kamado from Demon Slayer and Aether from Genshin Impact). He signed my box set of the Demon Slayer manga. And we got to talking about voice acting, and how I was interested in it, because it looked like a lot of fun (especially since he and his fellow Genshin Impact voice actors do all sorts of thing outside of recording, such as IRL meetups and livestreams, especially of the game Among Us). When I mentioned that my favorite Among Us livestream of theirs was when they voted Khoi Dao (Murata in Demon Slayer and Albedo in Genshin Impact) off the ship, he laughed, as he remembered that stream.

He was even impressed by my voice impersonation of Khoi Dao and Corina Boettger (Paimon in Genshin Impact) from that stream when Khoi was desperately trying to get everyone to vote Christian Banas (Thoma from Genshin Impact) off the ship instead of him. I told him that voice impersonations is a talent of mine, and even broke out my impression of Keith Silverstein as Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter; he loved that one, too. He was also quite gracious, and even said that we could hopefully work together someday.

It would have been nice to have met Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo in Bleach, Vash the Stampede in Trigun, and Adam Park/Black Ranger from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers), but sadly, his line was too long, and I didn't have a lot of time left at the convention. It was the same with Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke Uchiha in Naruto, but I more associate him with Derek Stiles in Trauma Center, Patroklos Alexander in Soulcalibur V, and Dainsleif in Genshin Impact). Mark Hamill was sadly too expensive (asking for $500 for an autograph, which was the amount that I brought with me in cash). William Shatner was surprisingly not as expensive (only about $120; I figured he would have charged just as much, if not more, than Mark Hamill), but again, I just didn't have time, and it looked like his line was super long.

But still, I got to meet some of the people that I really wanted to meet (i.e., Zach Aguilar and Patricia Summersett), so it was still fun.
