@Kermit1 For me caring is only for real things not made up characters.
You can sympathize with the fantasy of the story but if you get start sobbing every time you see your favorite character getting killed it is not a good sign.
I thought I was alone on that, since I'm always seeing talk of "insert moment/character here" and feeling heart-less and that I don't care...
(or maybe that's just me in my head) (I do that too much) (My main fear is that i come off as annoying, because this is the very first forum/""social media"" thing I've ever had...) (and that I tend to do long speech style posts that kinda ramble)
@Kermit1 Sure I have some really nice moments or WTF moments from games or sometimes I say "Why did they had to kill that character I liked his/her behavior" but it is the same as reading a book
Keep in mind that some people can create really unhealthy bonds over fictional characters. I had seen a girl cry her eyes out because one character dies in Harry Potter. Or streamers that cry when Joel's daughter died in The Last of Us prologue.
@Zuljaras The only time I can remember, I truly cared for a character was in Untitled Goose Games ending.
That darn Goose got his bell and that whole chase through all those past places you pestered, to finally going back to the garden seeing the gardener again, then running past him and finally putting your bell in the pit. honk (<sad honk)
So a sibling of mine isn't really using there switch, so they will let me use there copy of splatoon 2, so I guess I don't have to get my own, meaning I can warm up before pat 3, which I'm planning to get.
Also how is everyone day going? good I hope!

Caring enough for a fictional person or creature to the point where you get emotional is completely normal psychologically. Not only does it tell others how well-written the movie or game is, but that you're a sympathetic human being. They're immersed enough into the story, world, and characters to form attachments. It would be a concern if you didn't at least feel something for the characters. Yes, some get way more emotional than needed, but they're just connected to their sensitive side more than others.
However, that's if the person knows it's all fiction. It only becomes a situation if the individual is in such a state of mind that it causes them to think the characters are actually real. A person with such poor mental health is a very rare occurrence and only a few people experience it. To that point, I get what you two are getting at, but it's way too uncommon to be a realistic concern.
I feel like I’m on the more emotional side Lol, but I agree with all this.

@MarioLover92 It is interesting, I remember being exposed to more Macs as a kid, and Windows became a thing with me in middle school as mentioned before.
That's cool, I do have fond memories of Windows. Rayman 2 and Sonic CD were the first Windows games I remember playing. I got to play Roller Coaster Tycoon this way. I remember old programs like Real Player and Real Arcade (actually, I remember Sega use to have their classics here). Even flash games. When I had a Mac, most games were downloads. For example, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon games use to need to be downloaded, before they were stuck to a website.
Bonus points, Jimmy Neutron's DVD had the website games in offline form on the DVD itself when placed into a computer.
@Kermit1 Speaking for myself, in any form of fictional media, like games, shows, books, movies, I like it when I do feel emotional towards characters. For me at least, it helps makes the stories those mediums tell more meaningful, and it helps me like the characters even more than I did when I started with a game, show, or movie.
Will keep these in spoilers, just in event someone haven't played or seen these...
For example, Star Fox Assault. Knowing the series, seeing Wolf team up with Fox was a twist I didn't see coming and made me more excited to take out the aparoids. Seeing Peppy sacrifice himself to help save everyone, and then come back in the end, holy cow it's one of the most emotional experiences ever.
In Sonic Unleashed, that whole entire ending makes me tear up, especially knowing Chip has to go to sleep for 1000 years, and befriended Sonic and helped him throughout the story.
For the fun of it, one of my favorite movies, Trolls. The main protagonist Poppy, is a really upbeat character who always looks to the bright side of things, even when it looks bad. One point in the movie, Poppy and her friends get captured thanks to a character who betrayed the Trolls, seeing Poppy at her saddest, turning grey was a really heartbreaking moment knowing how she was throughout the movie. Then when Branch starts singing, and she gets her colors back, I can't help but feel happy again
These examples are why I enjoy it. It lets you feel for the characters, their situation, and make the story much, much more enjoyable. It makes playing a game, watching a movie or a show, more worthwhile IMHO. It's entertainment and part of the experience. It's fictional, but also helps with the stories these things are trying to tell.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
As for what I said earlier, I DO feel emotions in games just not the ones "of the moment"
I could not fit all my thoughts down (thanks dysgraphia and slow processing speed)
Does anyone here know a good online shop to get the Mario Odyssey amiibo? Even if it's just Mario, I would be cool with that. I was looking on Amazon and the only one they had was one being sold for (and I am not joking) €120. I don't even mind if it's American or British currency, I just really want one for games like Smash, Mario Kart and the like. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

@Tasuki That's a shame that there doesn't seem to be more understanding from the clean up company. I fully understand wanting to be paid for services given. However, under the circumstances, sounds like your hands are tied right now as far as the estate is concerned. Seems odd they can't extend the payment deadline, unless that's happened already. The lean part bothers me; legally, they can certainly do it. But that doesn't mean it's a scummy thing to do in a case like this.
@TheJGG To be fair, I probably wasn't as excited as I could be at the time, considering the fever and knotted stomach I was dealing with. XD I've rewatched the trailer a couple of times since, and I get more excited each time! I'm on board with more party members at the same time and am glad that the Switch appears it'll have enough horsepower to run everything....How swimmingly depends on impressions and reviews closer to launch. I agree the game looks amazing. As for XC2, I didn't have many visual issues with it...in docked mode. Handheld mode definitely saw a hit. That said, occasionally I did notice a texture or design that looked kind of flat or bleh, but those details aren't something I'm too bothered with.
Thankfully, there isn't really anything I want over the next couple of months, but that week leading up to Xenoblade Chronicles 3...whew. I'd already decided to wait on Live A Live since Square Enix games often see a discount before very long, but Digimon Survive launching on the same day as XC3 makes that one an automatic pickup delay too. I suspect they moved up the date as to not interfere with the recently revealed launch date for Splatoon 3.
RPGs are a poisoned chalice, honestly. They're so good, yet... so darn long.
Accurate where 99% of quality RPGs are concerned.
@MarioLover92 100% better now, thanks! Considering I've belted down a bit of pizza since my last post, I can confidently say I'm over it. :+1: I should be good until the next bout, which is hopefully a long while away.
I've heard the early Ninja Gaiden games are quite difficult, hence why I've given those a wide berth lol. Same with the NES Castlevania titles. I have played Super Castlevania IV via the SNES Classic; that one was challenging, but most (though not all) deaths felt fair IMO. Whereas Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts...Ehehehehe....No. Just no. I tried that one a couple of times and hated how the MC moved like a sick camel while tanking hits like a wet paper bag.
