I originally said internet because people will say "because internet" when something bizarre that only "the internet" would accept without question. (If that makes any sense).

Also, everyone that said something about the "situation" is correct, and your responses were professional.

That's also another problem with social media is the unofficial "news sources" (AKA fake news) that spread false info around. I'm hoping that with the threats/lawsuits that Facebook has been getting recently, that social media sites will start taking things like fake news more seriously than they have been currently. I forgot what it's called, but you're absolutely correct with the flat Earthers example.
Sometimes, we just need to vent. We probably should drop the mic here as well, before a war gets started in here.

Interesting, I can see that. I guess I've never been a huge fan of companies changing their logos, when I thought the "old" logo looked more professional and could get away with looking modern as well, like when Netflix changed their logo to the current version, it took me a while to get used to it, for the reason stated above.
Also, I guess the Danish now have a "superhero" now. I wonder what he should be called?

That's true, even if you have problems getting your backlog reduced, at least you can save money by getting them on sale.

@Tyranexx I know that feeling. Occasionally if I run the game for a long time, or if I'm playing in hot weather and my black phone in a black case heats up, the touch screen gets less responsive and trying to curve my throws sends balls off at random. It's made me curse up a storm too.

And I already figured that you meant to say social media, but I figured I'd add that nuance, just to be clear. Mainly because there's far more hate and (interactive) toxicity on social media than on the internet in general.

On the topic of social media monitoring/sanitizing their own services: although I fully agree with you, I also fully realize the enormity and difficulty of that task, considering how many millions of messages are posted each and every day, so if they're ever going to be able to find or construct a waterproof solution for that, remains to be seen.

@ThanosReXXX It's all irresponsibility at the end of the day, really. Should have been more topical, my bad. But that particular sequence of events is deplorable and to think the outgoing president endorsed this tom foolery. The fact that people were killed makes this an embarrassing and deeply disgusting moment in world history, to think that people would kill and die for a president that's leaving in two weeks. As if that would have actually done anything.

@Daniel36 Personally I'm not a fan of hip-hop, but the cinematography and colour choice is very good. Especially the scenes of purple, those have good lighting. For reference I have a Star Wars lava lamp that glows dark red, magnified by mini TIE-Fighters, and that kind of evil lighting is haunting. It can make or break an atmosphere, but all in all, well done.

Dutch... what an interesting language! I say this both in general conversation and in the context of Formula 1, due to the media's mass lionising of Verstappen. I find it fascinating how often Dutch reporters, and personalities in general swear, for example, because to a native English speaker to hear obscene words like m*ng*ol spoken by a race driver in passing conversation, is strange. But hey, it's a fascinating language and culture. Are you Dutch?

Yes, I am Dutch, and it's true, obscene words aren't much frowned upon in our day to day conversations. No need for examples, but yes, we have quite a reserve of swear words used often.

I used to play the first three games on an almost daily basis. I only tuned out when it became World of Warcraft. Never been interested in the whole "continuously online multiplayer" thing.

@theJGG True, it's all very, very sad. It's almost otherworldy at the same time as well. Or maybe I should say as if in some alternate reality, where these kinds of previously unthinkable scenarios can actually become real. Oh, well. Here's hoping for better days and more people seeing the error of their ways.

On Dutch: I actually live in Amsterdam. Been an American for the first 8,5 years of my life, still got family over in California, and I now live and work over here. Been traveling all over the place before that. Funny how you mention that they swear so much, while when they look at us, they mention how much we use the F-word, and other non-allowed words such as motherf*****, so to them, it's actually the other way around.

The Dutch are definitely VERY direct, but I actually like and prefer that, because you'll always know exactly what you have. It's the original WYSIWYG society...

@ThanosReXXX No way! That’s really awesome, it must be a great place! I honestly did not see that particular coincidence coming, but hey, it ties in really nicely! Do you speak the language? I’ve heard it, and it sounds incredibly difficult. I knew several people who used to take Dutch classes in school. I asked them why they did so despite being Dutch, and they said it required a lot of practice. Mr Worldwide indeed! And as for the direct nature of the Dutch, I said it just now but I get along well with them mostly, because I’m also a very straight arrow, no nonsense type personality, obviously with a similar sense of humour too. Only thing stopping me from being Dutch is that I’ve never been, I don’t speak the language and I don’t have a Dutch passport. But really, that must be quite a life!

And I posted this just after your post on the community rules... and frankly I never read them when joining! Common sense dictated not to post like that though. Almost like an end user license agreement, but with much more common sense and intuition involved.

Edit 2. Just read through them, really clear and precise, allows for positive healthy discussion and debate, with lots of respect. Great!

@theJGG Well, I could give you the answer straight away, but I'll give you a small hint and you'll figure it out: you now already know that I moved out when I was around 9, and nowadays, I'm looking at half a century, so yeah... kinda handy to be able to get along with the locals in a more inconspicuous manner.

Most of them speak English quite well, though, so it wouldn't really be a problem, but I do always like to fit in wherever I am or go. I also speak German and French, albeit not entirely fluent, and besides that I can also manage relatively well in Spain or Denmark, although I'd call that "holiday level" speech. Entire conversations could possibly result in me drawing a blank....

Just out of curiosity, though: where does your fascination/interest in the Dutch come from?

Yeah, there's definitely a lot more toxicity on social media than anywhere else. If most sites had (even half of) the civilness/politeness that Nintendo Life has, the internet would definitely be a better place.
I know that Facebook and Twitter have been cracking down on fake news recently, but I feel like they could be doing more.
I know that Tyranexx isn't a guy, but thanks for letting me know anyways. Whenever I say something like "you guys", "guys", "dude", etc., I mean it as a general statement, just wanted to let you know.

I don't usually listen to hip-hop, although I did like it. I like songs that tend to have more of a beat to them.

@theJGG Concerning those community rules: yep, they're actually pretty lenient, and in my view also take just a couple of minutes to read, to potentially save you from a world of trouble. And if I'm not mistaken, you're actually presented with them when you first join, so you have every opportunity to browse through them.

In the past, people posting/advertising their own videos would immediately receive a warning, so better to hear it from a fellow member than from an admin, I'd say.

@SM3DASislit Yeah, my bad, but I already posted it, and decided to leave it, instead of edit it out. I kinda already figured you used "guys" in a more colloquial manner. Much like how I always address my co-workers as ""people" instead of as "ladies & gentlemen". I sometimes do, when I'm feeling particularly nice and forgiving, but in general, there's few gentlemen at the office, and not many women over there are particularly lady-like... (more like tomboys or trailer you-know-whats)

@ThanosReXXX I’ve lived in nine countries, all over the world. I lived in Paris for a while then I spent three years in Eastern Africa, and I’ve met a handful of Dutch people, both male and female, along the way. Apart from my given reasons, I still have no clue why I get along with them so well. I formed some nice friendships out of those too.

And second (but less as big a reason as the first) being a Formula One fan you tend to notice the Dutch crowd a lot. Whether it’s the sea of orange in the grandstands to the orange microphones of the Dutch sports channel, they’re there! I’m not a Max Verstappen fan at all, I dislike his almost arrogant attitude, combined with an almost insatiable temper. Asked SM3DASislit but he/she ain’t a fan... but I don’t know if you are so I’ll ask anyways, do you watch or follow F1?

But glad to know that you actually live there! And speaking all the local languages too? You’ve pretty much mastered Europe! I learnt French whilst living in France when I was younger. I picked up the language, and within two years I could go to shops, order food, order bus tickets, and do almost anything. Spanish... not so much. For one year I learnt both at the same time, and it was a complete disaster, I was switching the two, getting confused... never doing that again!

@SM3DASislit I’m sorry, I didn’t get the joke! But hey, at least I learnt one thing today that didn’t come from watching a daily episode of The Chase! With each episode I feel that I could go in and challenge for the win. Some questions are left field and completely silly, but others are tough!
