@bimmy-lee thanks for confirming!

It's apparently also more common in cheaply made chocolate. Since those tend to use more fat as filler.

So yeah, tell that to Mr Ruth.

@Eel - Welcome. I wondered if the quality of chocolate had anything to do with it. I’ll just throw it out there that I don’t think I’ve ever seen it on real chocolate, only milk chocolate, so maybe the milk is a factor. Or not.

@NintendoByNature - I’d enjoy a weekly podcast that would just be an hour long deep dive into a different candy bar every episode. Can’t believe this isn’t a Netflix docu series yet. They have everything else.

Ugh. I need a medic. Today was crazy. Why is it still not Friday? X_X

@Heavyarms55 I personally never got into Hearthstone, though you'd think I'd be all over it considering I was really into WoW's lore at one point. XD

I wasn't intending to imply that you spent your work hours playing games. I'd assumed that it was only when all duties were done with and all customers were happily passed out and/or satisfied.

@HobbitGamer Sounds interesting indeed! I'll track down that intro later and see what I think.

When I was a kid, the animes everyone went crazy over were Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Digimon. Some other anime I personally enjoyed back then was Cardcaptors (Cardcaptor Sakura), Dragonball Z, MegaMan NT Warrior, and some Medabots.

Funnily enough, even though I was the target demographic of Sailor Moon, I never really got into it. It was a bit out there for me lol.

@bimmy-lee have you watched toys/movies that made us yet? Its on Netflix and a good watch. I've only watched 1 episode though, so maybe I shouldn't be talking. But as a big turtles fan, that was the first episode they had and It brought back so many childhood memories. I think youd like it.

@NintendoByNature - Oh buddy, that show is all up in my wheelhouse to the point I should probably get royalties from them because it was probably created using one of my online algorithms. I was pumped when the most recent season showed up because I thought it was done, and then my head nearly exploded when I saw there was an episode about the LJN WWF figures. It’s a delight. Just good, mindless fun and nostalgia. I haven’t watched the Movies series yet, but I definitely will.

@Eel - Yeesh, are you positive about that? I’m pretty sure milk chocolate comes from an ancient breed of Mayan cows that feed around the cocoa trees of the Yucatán peninsula.

Heh actually ancient mesoamericans would drink chocolate with no milk at all, I don’t think they had dairy products or reliable milk sources at all until Europe took over.

Milk chocolate actually comes as a byproduct of the rare European Milky Pig. You feed the pigs exclusively cacao through their life and then collect the delicious fat that develops under their skin. Then you just need to melt it and pour it into molds!

Weird day today. Half the team made a doughnut run today (seriously there were 8 boxes) and somebody’s truck caught fire in the parking lot. Which nearly gave me a heart attack because as I was walking up I heard “white single cab truck” which I drive and since single cabs aren’t standard really anymore my life flashed before my eye. Not mine though but it was two rows over.

@bimmy-lee Well, 53 years might seem short, but it's longer than any of us have lived, and it's more than half a century, so I'd say it's really not as short as you might think. And as we all know, tech evolution in any field goes like a rocket. Just look at PCs or business computers from those days and what we have now. That's a similar story if you compare it to video game history. People went to the moon assisted by a computer that now fits in the simplest of calculators, and those in turn are now a simple app in our smart phones.

Pretty soon, we'll have quantum computers, I estimate they will be available (albeit for a hefty sum) in around 8 to 10 years, that will make our current PCs look like those calculators that we sent people to the moon with...

As for the candy bars: if our version of the Mars bar was more like the MilkyWay, then that would have been confusing for us, seeing as we've got both of them over here. Then again: the difference between the two is indeed minor: the MilkyWay bar lacks the caramel on top of the nougat, but otherwise it's pretty much the same. I don't especially like either of them. They don't have bite, and the flavors are rather mediocre/bland.

Now, where Snickers are concerned, we can definitely agree. Don't have to put them in the freezer myself, but the nuts add a bit of needed spice and variety and taste, which makes it SO much better than the meh taste of the EU Mars or MilkyWay bar.

@Octane So, One Plus actually IS the brand? Weird, and I've still never heard of it.
And doh, obviously I understood that it is a phone...

But yeah, taking it to the shop sounds like a plan. Do let us know how the story ends, now that you've dragged us into it.

@NintendoByNature I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I were you. It's just a candy bar...

@Eel Yeah I heard that as well. I wonder what the first hot chocolate tasted like.

NotTelevision

Eel

@NotTelevision it was probably very bitter and strong.

You can actually find traditional recipes online if you wish to replicate those kinds of beverages. Might be hard to find the materials though.

@Tyranexx I played the crap out of Hearthstone for like 7 years. I spent lots of money on it too - which I have no issue with by the way, I consider it much more worth it than physical card games. And I didn't stop liking it, it's just that it's the kind of game I have to go all in on to justify the costs and I wanted to have more time for other games.

During that time I played a lot of 3DS. Mostly Pokemon and Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing.

@ThanosReXXX - Yeah, I suppose 53 years is a pretty decent chunk of time, especially relative to an individual human lifespan. I think I was sort of lumping video games in with all sorts of other hobbies and leisurely past times, such as the other skill and table top games I mentioned, which are much older, but haven’t evolved like video games. Which really isn’t a fair comparison at all given video games evolved from technology that, as you outlined, is recent and important enough in other capacities that it boomed almost immediately.

Things are getting very iiiinteresting in the candy bar conversation now. US Milky Way does have caramel on top of a fluffy nougat. Our nougat only bar (dipped in chocolate) is called a Three Musketeers. It’s the lowest level candy bar in my opinion. The texture is gross. US Milky Way is helped in the texture department with the caramel, but it’s still inferior to the slightly salty crunch when peanuts are added to the mix in a Snickers. Another thing I love about Snickers, if I’m traveling, or suuuper busy, a king size Snickers can carry me through a lunch with promise of an early dinner. So clutch.

Do they have Oats Snickers in America (or Europe)? They were all over the place here in Korea a year ago, but now they’re gone. They were so good!

Also last winter we had Ginger Cookie Twix over here. Like a normal Twix except with gingerbread instead of the regular cookie part. Amazing, but sadly was limited edition and now is also nowhere to be found.

@Heavyarms55 Nothing wrong at all with the good 'ol 3DS! I still play mine quite a bit. 3/DS games are a good chunk of my backlog still. Looks like you have/had a pretty decent game library for it too.

I really should give Hearthstone a shot at some point.

Lately, I've been craving Mounds bars.

One summer during college I worked for Mars testing dollar bill acceptors. Had to ask to go to the bathroom. It was so insulting. That job felt like going to jail. It. sucked.

@Eel yeah sounds like it. Chocolate and chili powder. That’ll wake you up.

NotTelevision

@bimmy-lee Agreed on both counts. I wasn’t the biggest fan of peanuts when I was younger (only peanut butter) so I’d often go for the Milky Way over the Snickers. Now it’s the reverse. That salty/sweet thing is what keeps you coming back.

Three Musketeers is pretty underwhelming. It’s one slight step above a chocolate covered marshmallow peep, but that’s the best I can say about it.

Never been a Kit-Kat guy either but I know it has a following.

Octane

@ThanosReXXX I thought it was pretty common these days. I know several people who own a One Plus. It's been around for several years now. One Plus 7 is out since last year. I'm not up to date with the latest versions, but they used to offer phones worth around €800 for the price of €400. So it was essentially a high-end phone, without having to pay for the label.
