The rice was from a restaurant this time, so that part was easy.
Legend says that my mother refused to eat cauliflower as a kid, until my grandma hid the flowerets with a layer of egg batter and presented them as "Imperial Buds" (my mother has always been a fan of Chinese food), and that did the trick.
Of course, she then proceeded to do the same with her own children.

Definitely trying this out at some point. I have no problem eating cauliflower, but I also really love mixing eggs with other ingredients.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
If you want to try it, we use a simple batter made with only egg; you first beat the egg whites until they are able to form peaks, and then add the yolks, and seasoning.
The cauliflower should be steamed or boiled beforehand. Of course.
Once you have those two ingredients, it's just the regular process of dusting the thing with flour, dipping it in batter, and frying it.
@Woomy_NNYes Why feel like a dope? I can understand, to some extent, that it might be somewhat annoying that if you like a forum comment, that you can't actually add a like, as you would be able to do in the comments section underneath an article, but other than that, there's plenty of other ways to show appreciation to my fellow Chit-Chatters, so I'm good either way...
@Eel The +1 I meant was supposedly shorthand for a thumbs up emoji, but turns out that the two words without a space in between them and caught between two colons does the trick here.
As for any emoji bar or whatever, the Windows key and + doesn't do anything other than magnify the page for me, and the Windows key and the period key does nothing whatsoever. I'm on Windows 7, by the way. And yes, I know, no more support as of this month, but this is an aging PC, and I hate Windows 8 and 10, and this one still works fine, so I feel no need to update. I'll see how long I'll be able to last. I lasted until last year with an XP/Vista hybrid, so I think I'll be fine for years to come...
On a side note: when I read "battered" cauliflower, my first image was that of someone smashing it with a hammer...
@Tyranexx Burgers, fries and cats. Who doesn't love 'em?
Some may dislike , or even think they are , but these people can go and my you-know-what...
@NEStalgia Since when do skunks emit "fragrance"? Who are you, Pepé le Pew?
@Tyranexx Ah, well. It isn't like none of us have never eaten mashed potatoes, and let's not forget all the mashed/puréed stuff that most of us will have eaten when we were babies and/or toddlers, so it's not like vegetables and/or related food items meeting their demise in interesting ways is something entirely new...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@Eel I did mention having tried both. You seem to have missed that...
EDIT:
From Cnet.com:
Windows 7 supports emojis, which means you can see them when you visit websites with emojis (instead of seeing little boxes), but it does not have a touch keyboard that lets you use emojis in your typing. To use emojis on a Windows 7 PC, you'll need to copy and paste them from an emoji database such as Get Emoji.
@ThanosReXXX heh. When I said I felt like a dope, i meant it in a silly way. Good looking out though.
@Eel do you whip your eggs for everything when you batter & fry? I can see how your directions can have real purpose for developing a desired batter structure & flavor, though. I've just never seen a whipping step for batter. Very interesting!
@Woomy_NNYes yeah, It's the batter we use for chiles rellenos, a traditional Mexican dish. So the practice sticks, unless a particular recipe says something different.
If you don't whip them up, it's considerably harder to apply a good uniform coating.

@HobbitGamer - I picked up Donut County on sale last week, and completed it over the course of a couple sessions this week. I thought of you as someone who would probably enjoy it while I was playing. Have you tried it out? It’s light on gameplay and content, but it’s also fun and funny. Still on sale this week I believe.
@bimmy-lee Yup! I jumped on it the very first time it went on sale ($8?). I really enjoyed it, but did wish for a little longer game or hidden things. The end stage made up for some early blandness, though.
