Oh, cool, @bimmy-lee .... Wasn't that bothered, it seemed odd, though The idea of playing a goose doesn't appeal to me but it's obviously doing so for plenty of people
@BruceCM - Yeah, I think the people who like it really like it, and the people who don’t get it really don’t get it. It’s like IPAs in that way, and it was meme ready from the get go. It’s right up my alley, as I’m immediately drawn to games that let me play as animals, and the humor is top notch. It’s for a somewhat neglected audience, and those in that audience are really happy it exists. Perhaps overly happy.
I don't have any problem with that game, same as plenty of others I'm just not interested in playing, @bimmy-lee At least some games I enjoyed were considered weird by most & at least I can be happy for anyone who does like it
@bimmy-lee tbh I'd be more prone to like the game were it not for the viral presence. Still, the way it's placed, the influencers, the celebrities..... This is stealth marketing 101.... No way it's an organic spread. We've learned too many times before when these things go viral seemingly on their own, there's always an agency behind that.... Always.
Let's suppose you're right, @NEStalgia ... That's cost them a LOT of money That is still a gamble & by now, there should be enough people who aren't paid saying what they think about it
@ThanosReXXX - I love a good goosing! Whether I’m the gooser or goosee, it’s always a quick thrill.
@BruceCM - Oh yeah, I don’t think people need to like the game. Play it if you do, don’t if you don’t. It’s highly unusual, and that means it just won’t be for all of us. I understand if people are getting fatigue from it. It’s the internet, where we drive things into the ground.
@NEStalgia - I get your skepticism, but I think it’s too widespread to be viral marketing. As BruceCM mentioned, at this point it would be one heck of a marketing budget for an indie team, but Nintendo backed it; so who knows? Content providers like NL are just going to ride the wave as long as they can, whether it’s their own content, or through appropriation from Twitter. We’re now accustomed to things lasting 24 hours, and then we move on and never mention it again. Whether through a perfect storm, or expert marketing; UGG had managed to stay relevant for two whole weeks on the internet, which is no small feat and bound to draw skepticism.
@bimmy-lee not just Nintendo, iirc it had government money as well. But that aside, viral social marketing is a lot cheaper than it sounds. It's tactical. It manipulates the herd mentality of the internet so that the right placements make the mob think they're the only ones missing out on something everyone else is already in on. Then the mob does the rest of the marketing for you. It's not cheap, but it's not mega money expensive either. And i loathe it with the passion of a thousand burning suns. The Goebbels-esque mad media group manipulation garbage that drives most of the modern world.
But getting places to ride the wave is the whole point of kick-starting the marketing. It's "old shoe"..(assuming you know the reference). Create the famous thing everyone knows about from while cloth.
I was skeptical of that campaign from when it started ramping up before it even released and mentioned it in a few relevant. IMO there's relay no doubt. It's almost a mirror of a few other viral phenomenons that turned out to have been a job (which we didn't lea r n about for years)
@NEStalgia - You could be right. Or House House did a good job keeping it in front of people through the last few years of development. It’s not like it’s a generic and forgettable shooter. It’s a stealth game that’s not really stealthy where you play as a goose and troll people, and everyone knows geese are jerks. Could be it just strikes some kind of weird chord and people don’t forget it after they’ve seen it and want to try it. I’m sure there’s some gross influencers selling it to their dopey followers because they got a free copy of the game, but that’s the case with everything these days.
@Anti-Matter - No, there’s no failure (other than maybe not being able to figure out a task), no game over, and no death. It’s barely a “game” as we would know it. Just a sandbox for you to humorously troll people. They made this game with you in mind. It’ll get a physical release, no doubt.
Third one on Untitled Goose Game, I like how it turns into "let's see if I can do this thing I could think of" and attempt to try it. Like in a "taking the farmer's radio to the electronic store, getting inside, and seeing if the farmer has to buy back the radio" kind of way.
I didn't succeed, the store just tossed it out the door. I did get the farmer to buy back his shovel.
@ThanosReXXX - Haha, I’m a one butt man at this point, so you’re safe. Unless we get too deep into the R&Cs... then you never know what might happen. Nah, I’m sure your butt is just fine, but I’ve always liked lady butts. We’ll just keep it to snack plates, drinks, games, your uncle’s pub, and good natured fun.
@Sunsy I was actually able to take the radio across the whole map while having it still be playing!
Be yourself, no matter who you are!
For me, that's being madly in love with fictional characters. Plz don't judge.
Yes, my first anime was High School DxD. Don't ask or judge!

Odd....I wasn't getting any chit chat thread notifications. I come strolling in, low and behold. @anti-matter is back! Hello again partner, Good to see you're back at it!
@HobbitGamer - Just checked, it says one every three to four hours, not 10. Whoops, that’s what I get for reading instructions when I can’t see. What did I say anyways? Is it Tuesday?
@NintendoByNature - We piled the pages on the ole Chit Chat thread today. Don’t even try to go back and catch up. It’s all been absurd. But hey, Anti! Calendar Project 2020 full steam ahead.
@bimmy-lee yeesh, you spend one day at work and making dinner, come back and it's like planet of apes happened. You don't recognize anything, You feel like an outcast, and worst of all, there's a new guy named lamby b, or spammy c, I don't know. Life just hit me hard. Is this even the chit chat thread anymore?
