@NEStalgia Yeah, in a lot of areas, it's more extreme in the States than over here, so I can understand.
Does kinda sound like you're more partial to California than you're willing to admit, though, what with wanting to move Christmas to an earlier month.

"Come to Cali, and celebrate Christmas underneath the palm trees!"

@ThanosReXXX Ah, I see. In that case I shall issue a public apology for good measure.

@NEStalgia That is pretty much the relationship I have with summer - I basically stop functioning and suffer from dizziness and migraines all the time. To add insult to injury my hay fever flares up in early summer because that's just what I need when I feel like I'm melting.

As for winter... its temperatures are my personal favourite as anything < 0° C/32° F just makes me feel awake and alive. It's kinda quirky but the cold invigorates me whereas warmth does the polar opposite. No favourite status because of its weather, though - snow and ice might be romantic to look at for some but they're a pain to deal with, not to mention dangerous - and everyone keeping windows closed and cranking up the heating. That stuffy air makes me feel sluggish and I can't concentrate at all to the point of hardly being able to function.

@HobbitGamer I'd die. (Comparison: 13° C/55° F over here today, 4° C/39° F at night, still dropping.)

Currently playing: ACNL, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Art Academy, Minecraft, Mario Tennis Aces
Sidegames: Super Kirby Clash, Overcooked 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3

Looking forward to: Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokémon Swish
Hyped for: ACNH

@ThanosReXXX Oh I would love the climate of SoCal. I just wouldn't love the people & government.

Some winters aren't as bad as others, but you dread the whole time that it will be one of the bad ones. Below 0F is just nasty, especially in areas where the buildings aren't made for it and the plumbing freezes. But the worst are the ones the temps don't get above freezing for weeks. It's just permanently frozen so anything broken stays broken. And then there's always the worry of big blizzards and ice storms. 4-12ft comes with all sorts of problems. Snow isn't powdery and light Christmas snow here, it's quite literally similar density and weight to wet cement and adheres to everything. Then freezes into glacier like rock. And it all wreaks havoc on trees and power lines. So every time you know it will precip you worry. Granted, plenty of people here looooooove winter. I will never understand why, though to fair, I'm convinced these are the same people that don't shovel their own snow and pay someone to do it, have SUVs (which is nearly everyone here) etc.

NEStalgia

NEStalgia

@KarateLuigi At least we agree on the snow & ice!

0C/32F isn't bad at all. it's when it's 0F or below for lows, and 25F or so for highs that it gets bad. In the extremes, days with highs of 8F happen, though "normal" awful is highs of 25F or so. There are certainly colder parts of the US where it's much much colder than that even. I'd have drowned myself by age 12 if I lived there. Though buildings are more built for it there too, as is the pace of life.

@KarateLuigi We had 90° F and up over here, the last two summers. Now I know what it feels like to be a sloth...

@NEStalgia Well, with the extreme low temperatures over there, you should at least be able to get fresh frozen meat and fish more often during that time of year...

I think that although some people do really love winter, there's also quite a few people who think they do, but actually more love the idea of winter, instead of the actual season itself, as in: the picture of it all, and those snow-touched landscapes do look quite pretty sometimes. But plowing through ten feet of snow obviously isn't, even I can agree to that one.

On a side note: people that have enough money so they can afford to let other people solve their problems, probably love just about anything...

NEStalgia

@ThanosReXXX I don't know about fish, but if gnawing on my own limbs counts as frozen meat, you're right!

You're probably right about the idea of winter....There's definitely those that really do love it....but yeah half the whiners about how they want even more snow and even colder weather all the time probably like the idea more. Though they'd never admit it.

Heh, yeah, you're right about having other people solve the problems for a fee..... here, the majority don't mow their own lawns, tend their own mulch and plants, rake their own leaves, plow their own snow... The landscapers to the former once a week or more, in late fall they roll in with 2 trucks, 3 people and massive blowers to deal with leaves, and in Winter they bring snow plows to the driveways of larger homes and snow blowers to anything else. They just hop in their SUVs and do whatever they want and wonder why you can't be as energetic as them in work....worthless peasant. I'm seeing more people mowing their own lawns recently. It's almost 50/50 in some areas! Other neighborhoods I'm not sure anyone even owns a mower. It wasn't like that here, 30 years ago. And of course that's now being replaced by the rise in "luxury carriage homes starting at only $499,999!" with no grass and common ground to plow.

@NEStalgia These "idea of winter" people are probably already hearing the sleigh bells and someone softly singing "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" in their ear, the moment they see the first flakes falling down...
(or they're not even realizing that they're probably humming that tune themselves)

@Tir9999 You can't trade over the the internet

Anyway, in other news, the backup generic Switch Lite starter kit I ordered is here! (I sent the hori accesories to my brother, because I'll be visiting him next week, and those would not get here in time, so I needed something to use for now). My lite finally has a case, a nice grip, and a screen protector, so that's awesome!

I'll giving this carrying case to him, and some of the extra trinkets that came with it.

@ThanosReXXX And they're probably a few too many craft beers into it to notice the frostbite setting in, and the swerving car seems "normal" to them.

I think he goes by David, but I didn’t check his profile. He has two IG profiles, and I think one of them is DavidDDR, so he’s already worked DDR into a nickname!

@ThanosReXXX - Those games are all Anti approved. I’ll make sure he’s aware of the English letter. I think he used google to translate the original, but I’m not sure to what language.

@KarateLuigi - I’m a nature lover as well, and look forward to fall all year. I haven’t gotten the mild weather yet, but the tree canopy is beginning to turn yellow/gold, and some of the maples have started to go orange. The small woodland creatures shifted into intense gathering mode about two weeks ago. I had to bring all my plants indoors as they were using my plantings for nut storage. Last week was all about fuzzy caterpillars. They were everywhere. I like watching everything prepare and get ready.

@NEStalgia They'll probably notice when they see one of those big St. Bernard dogs walking up to them, with a casket of rum or whiskey around its neck. Or maybe it's Jack Frost with an icicle scythe...

@bimmy-lee Well better let him read the English one then, because if I see what Google Translate does to it when translating its own English to Thai translation back to English again, then I'm beginning to get a really good and tangible understanding of the phrase "lost in translation", so I'm afraid that translating it from Thai to Indonesian will probably be even worse...

And what games? DDR?

So, DavidDDR, huh? Seems I almost hit the spot there, with my own invented moniker...

@bimmy-lee Yes, the profile just says "David" and it may not be common to use "Dave" in Indonesia, but it's common here, so I ran with it

That's just too funny that he had to translate the original message. "Here, here's a heartfelt message sent to you in a random language neither of us know" It's very personalized.

I'm not a big fan of winter, as a season, either, @NEStalgia .... But ours aren't as extreme as yours While I equally dislike it being very hot & humid (which also rarely happens here)
So, you playing on that yet, @StableInvadeel?

Well I’m kinda busy at the moment so that will have to wait. I did take some time to update the save files and check the shop to download a few more games.

@KarateLuigi I'm happy fall is here too, maybe within the next week, it's going to be a surprisingly hot day tomorrow, which is unusual for October weather.

@ThanosReXXX It is a good letter.

You may also not want to permanently close the door on Nintendo Life. It's probably the most friendly and relaxed gaming community on the Internet, so I think you will potentially have even more problems on other sites because they are not nearly as friendly or social.

About this line, I really hope he doesn't consider another gaming forum. I've been to several in the past, and I have to agree with this part. I remember being bullied over liking Sonic games, and even a few cartoon tie-in games because they were "kiddy" on forums I been to in the past. Pretty much left them because of that.

I'm really thankful this community is pretty friendly from my time on here. Though, I was using Nintendo Life for news long before signing up, even during the Wii U days.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

bimmy-lee

@ThanosReXXX - I think eight pages ago you had a list of games you were going to play with Anti, including a naked fairy game and Pantsu. Those were the games I was referring too.

@Sunsy - I think the NL forums are where all the old trolls and bullies come to retire when they’re too tired to troll and bully any longer. You should be good, just stay off people’s lawns. They’re funny about that around here.

@Sunsy Thank you very much. I'm pretty tempted right now to make fun of you because you like Sonic games, but I would obviously only be pulling your leg...
Yeah, I've been to quite a few sites over the years, and ultimately, this has been the one that I've been hanging around on for the longest. Two years of just lurking and reading, and in 2012, I finally decided to make an account here, and I've been here ever since.

@bimmy-lee Dead or Alive and Mortal Kombat? Haha, it'll probably be a cold day in hell before Anti approves of any of the games in those series, unless they'd make chibi spin-offs from them...

And what's that about people hanging around on my lawn? Do I need to grab my baseball bat?
