@Rambler I like Morocco, even though it’s an Islamic country where drinking is as devilish as watching an R-Rated movie I still got drunk there a lot!

I always liked The Sacrifice from his work even though it’s not as celebrated compared to his others movies. Let me know what you think of Mirror as I’ve wanted to watch that for ages.

@EaglyPurahfan Alrighty, enjoy Ruby Gillman and the rest of those movies after your vacation. I really liked Ruby Gillman, just a shame it's doing poorly at box office. Hopefully it will be seen as an underrated movie in the long run. People discover it on streaming or DVD and enjoy and appreciate it more than it did at launch.

Enjoy your vacation BTW!

@EaglyPurahfan I didn't know that about Puss In Boots. I am trying to spread Ruby Gillman via word of mouth, told a friend who moved away about it yesterday and he saw it after work today and loved it. Though, I saw it on the Fourth of July, and the theater was pretty empty. Not just the room I saw Ruby Gillman in, but in general, not many showed up for any movie because of Fourth of July plans I guess. It was nice to treat my friend to a movie, since he always takes me along to the movies. It's just fun watching something together.

Will admit, the lackluster ticket sales does have me a bit worried for Trolls Band Together since I know people who hate Trolls want it to fail and the series to go away for good. Which would not be good for fans like me who love this series.

@EaglyPurahfan Interesting looking at the total gross, still 18 million is more than Ruby Gillman's 5 million on opening weekend. I noticed two things in common, Puss In Boots was released close to Christmas, and Ruby Gillman released close to the Fourth of July, so my guess is holidays stopped some people from seeing it. Just a thought.

Plus I would never base my assumptions on movies based on how many people are in a theater at a given time. I cant remember the last time I have been to a packed one

Awesome, I've seen too many people who do that. I'm glad you don't base your assumptions like that. For me, it was Super Mario movie, which was on my birthday earlier this year. That was really packed.

I hope so, the fact Trolls has an established fanbase is a good thing. It's just so weird seeing animated movies doing so poorly, and just was in the back of my mind.

I hope you enjoy Ruby Gillman. Actually I was just playing Asphalt 9 with my friend who saw the movie today, and we were talking about it, gaming, and having a good time.

@Professor_Plumber It is weird to see. I can't speak for Elemental, but my friend didn't like it. Personally, I have to be choosy with movies. I'm not into Spider-Man or super heroes, so I have no interest in Spider-Verse (I'm pretty sure I made the cartoon community on YouTube mad about that one), and I wasn't as interested in Elemental as much as Ruby Gillman, so I went to see Ruby Gillman, and happy I did see it. My friend and I loved it.

I'm planning to see Trolls Band Together multiple times. Even though I did see Trolls World Tour twice at two local theaters last summer, I really do want to see this one multiple times since Trolls World Tour didn't have a normal theater release. It went straight to home, and gets occasional theater showings as special events, which is how I saw it theatrically.

@EaglyPurahfan That's what my friend who I saw Ruby Gillman with brought up, Ruby being a new IP since not many know about her character or movie. Shrek has been around for over 20 years at this point. Even when Trolls was new in 2016, it had the old toys (even the movie credits Thomas Dam), which funnily enough, DreamWorks owns the rights to the original toys now.

That does make sense, I just assumed people were busy because of the holiday. My theater was pretty empty yesterday, not many people were going in and out.

That's a sad worry since I do like going to the theater. More now than in the past. After not being able to see Trolls World Tour in theaters in 2020, I've been more thankful for going to them now (even did get to see Trolls World Tour last summer).

I should have confidence in the series, it's just this trend is weird. I do feel a bit reassured.

Alrighty, if it's a Disney thing, it feels odd other animated movies get affected too.

Me too, it's my primary form of entertainment, both animated movies and shows.

@Professor_Plumber Yeah, I was very happy with the movie, just wish it did better, and more enjoyed it. Hope it does well too. I did get a taste of it on the big screen as the new Trolls trailer played before Ruby Gillman yesterday.

@Professor_Plumber you forgot the 1...

Terry Gilliam is such an interesting director, the saga of Brazil is still very famous.

@Professor_Plumber I love how Dr. Strangelove's title is straight-up just a short story and somehow still doesn't spoil the movie.

Perfect timing btw, I just bought a Peter Seller record yesterday... It was $1 but that $1 went to charity.

@Professor_Plumber Kubrick is a creative genius, but a pretty bizarre person (in other words, just google the stuff he did to Shelly DuVall in The Shining).

it was only $1 not like anyone was getting huge profit off that.

Goldeneye (Blu-Ray)

Just dug around my Blu-Ray collection for something to watch and settled on this.

I think the last time I watched it, it didn't really stick with me because I was watching a whole bunch of these Bond movies in close proximity, but rewatching it on it's own it really is quite a fun action romp.

It really helped that it built it's narrative around the then topical collapse of the Soviet Union, adding a level of believable political intrigue to the mix (even if the Russian government weren't really the bad guys), it had some really fun action sequences (like the whole opening sequence, as well as the tank scene), and just the right amount of camp (love the sequence at Q's lab) without sacrificing the tension of the serious moments.

Golgo 13 (Blu-Ray)

A live action adaptation of a manga of the same name, it follows an assassin known as Golgo 13 who is hired to take out Max Boa (the crime lord of an international criminal organization), who has been kidnapping women around the world & is currently in Iran.

The narrative isn't deep, but it sets the tone for what is a pretty decent action flick. It's a bit slower than I'd have liked, but it definitely has it's cool moments (such as a sequence where he escapes being tied up, and another in how he figures out who his real target is amongst a group of doubles). Despite being a Japanese production, it's filmed entirely on location in Iran, which is an interesting backdrop you don't often see in movies (though being a 70's flick, keep in mind this is the Iran of 50 years ago, before the revolution). Given what else of the franchise I've experienced, I'm actually kinda surprised (and maybe a tad disappointed) that there wasn't any nudity. In fact I'd wager that it may even be a bit tamer than the Bond movies of the era in that regard (though, this could be a side effect of filming in Iran).

Project A-Ko 4: Final (Blu-Ray)

The final entry in the Project A-Ko series, it's pretty much more of the same. I'll admit they got me with the twist surrounding the space princess even though I should have seen it coming a mile away given the events of the first film. Like the last one, this one didn't have as good of action as the first two.

I enjoyed seeing the Gunbuster related Easter eggs given I just finished watching that a bit over a week ago.

Now that I have free time after finishing TotK, I decided to watch a movie. Picked out Sisu, which I’ve been meaning to watch.

Set at the end of WW2 in Finland. A ex soldier finds gold and some Nazis steal it from him. And he goes on a mission of vengeance to get his gold back from the Nazis.

Great movie and is one of my favorites this year.
