A few days ago I saw Fleischer Studios' Gulliver's Travels for the first time in several years, and I've gotta say it's still pretty good, and for 1939 it looks very impressive (they used rotoscoping to make Gulliver).

I watched How to Train Your Dragon, which was ok. Love the scenery design though.

Quantum of Solace is up next in my queue.

The Lost Boys is awesome!

Agreed. But have you seen "Lost Boys: The Tribe"?

BLECHT!

@Irken - Before you watch Quantum of Solace, I suggest back to back with Casino Royale. Because Quantum is set directly after Casino Royale it makes it a far more cohesive and wholly awesome experience.

Yes... I saw that there was a third, but after watching the second, there is no way I am going to fall for it again.

Hmmm, well I saw two movies this year, so I'll make my picks anyway!
Best Picture: Hmmm, well Inception and Toy Story 3 were both awesome. I guess I'll give it to Inception because an animated movie will not win this award. Of course, neither will Inception.
Best Director: Not Christopher Nolan? Well alright then.... I'll say the guy from The Social Network, because if you can make a movie about the creation of a website good, you've got to be a pretty good director.
Original Screenplay: Inception.
Adapted Screenplay: Toy Story 3.
Animated Movie: Toy Story 3. DUH!
Actor: We'll go with Jeff Bridges. Isn't he, you know, good or something?
Actress: We'll say Natalie Portman, because I keep hearing about Black Swan.
Supporting Actor: Christian Bale, because I feel like his name has been popping up a lot since that movie came out.....
Supporting Actress: I have no idea who these people are, but I think Melissa Leo won the Golden Globe, so I'll say her!
And there you have it!

Best Picture: The King's Speech. Not only will the Academy not get any flack for picking it because it was so well-made, but it's got of all of the foreign awesome masterfulness they love or something. The Social Network is the other frontrunner because it's a painting of our times.
Best Director: Yeah I agree Fincher has the best shot. If not him, then probably the "True Grit" brothers.
Original Screenplay: Everything in me screams, "INCEPTION!!!!" except for the nagging doubts that come with Dark Knight neglects last year and Nolan Best Director snub (for Inception). If not that, King's Speech, easily.
Adapted Screenplay: Social Network, little to no competition. 127 Hours and Toy Story 3 small chances, too.
Animated Movie: Wow, this is a hard one. Maybe How to Train Your Dragon.... No, The Illusionist fo sho. Why is that terrible, obscure toy movie even nominated?
Actor: Firth (Globe winner) or Franco (random pick). Fun category.
Actress: Natalie Portman's freaky, black and swan-like alter-ego of course.
Supporting Actor: Bale is the obvious choice, but I'm kinda thinking maybe Ruffalo/Rush.
Supporting Actress: I would say Carter 'cause I'm a King's Speech fanboy, but really, she was quite average. Melissa Leo is extremely likely.
That's all, folks!
thanks

Do it! Incredibly under-rated movie. The most fun I've had at the movies in ages.

Kid_A

Captain America and Super 8 looked awesome, but I'm not sold on the others yet.

I liked what Thor and Cowboys & Aliens showed us too. Super 8 was the only one for me that looked like it belonged as a super bowl ad though. It was just a well crafted trailer, big names attached to it , and I like JJ abrams' style of secrecy.

Agreed. The only one that didn't really do anything for me was Battle:LA. Super 8 looks awesome (Speilberg + Abrams should = awesome summer blockbuster fun).

I'm wary of Transformers 3, but other stuffs i've seen/read make it seem like it might be the best of the 3 (that early trailer with the Moon landing bit rocked!).

Cap is a no-brainer for me (Cap's my all-time fave superhero, just edging out Bats by a hair), and though i've never been a huge Thor fan (at least solo-wise; i love him in the Avengers books), it does look pretty good, plus it'll surely work in more continuity for Marvel's upcoming Avengers flick and, of course, it has Natalie Portman.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Cowboys & Aliens = WIN!

Captain America, Thor, Super 8, Cowboys and Aliens, and Battle: LA are all on my radar. I'm not looking forward to Fast Five or Transformers 3. Both looked stupid to me.

I watched a movie called the Secret of Kells last night. It's about a kid who is trying to learn to illuminate a book at the same time as vikings are attacking Ireland. The animation was incredible, the music was great, and the plot worked better than it sounds. Even my two little brothers loved it, and they normally hate anything not involving a ton of action or comedy. (It had some of both, though)

I'm thinking of going to see True Grit for the second time soon. It was definitely my favorite movie of 2010.

Captain America and Thor both looked great. Transformers 3 (Sorry I refuse to call it something that sounds like the name of a Pink Floyd Album) looked good but I wish the had a better trailer for it. Fast Five looked kinda dumb but I will probably go see it anyway cause the other 4 were decent and I so want to see a smackdown between Vin Diesel and The Rock lol. The Battle of Los Angeles looked like another good solid action movie kinda reminds me of ID4 though but we will see.

Surely the new Captain America movie must be better than this, right?
