I wouldn't be surprised to see one as soon as the 24th, and Directs usually are announced the day before. Either way, I can't wait for some (hopefully) good news!
perhaps they had one almost ready and decided to redo it for next month after the apologies about mis reading the markets and western attitudes and such

thats pretty much true. i have faith in nintendo, but they refuse to give anyone a bone. give me at least SOME new footage. i want X, Tropical Freeze, Bayo2, but i guess they don't want my money.

I'm kind of surprised that we haven't gotten one yet, usually it's the second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month. I'm guessing their money issues and their new business plan has something to do with it. Hopefully it won't take too long, I'm guessing next Tuesday and Wednesday it'll air.

Why do people keep assuming this? Nintendo's got plenty they could at least address. Hell, even if it's just a recap/reminder of all the stuff we don't have official info on, yet, that's still better than nothing. There are always new titles coming to the eShop, some reassurance on 3rd parties would always be nice, and why would they pass up a chance to hype up Bravely Default, DKCTF, and Mario Kart 8? This would be the first month since Fall 2012 that they haven't had a Direct for the month, so if it's just a hype stream, then so be it. It's still better than nothing.
I really don't see one coming this month, maybe next month for DKCTF and Pokemon Bank release but even then it would probably be short and uneventful.
I simply cannot, for the life of me, understand why people keep assuming this. A good Direct is about 60 of three or four games and 40 percent piddly doodiepoopoocacapoopledoople. They don't need twenty big releases lined up for a good Direct. Hell, last year, their next big release--and the only one for the next six months--was Lego City. If anything, a Direct with very little ob the horizon can be a very good thing, for us. Please watch the profanity — TBD
According to the Nintendo Direct wiki they had a South Korean ND on January 17th. I can't imagine they'll get one and we won't.. just be patient. I'm sure Nintendo has a good one in store for.
I predict there will be one the day before their shareholder meeting. Therefore, I think that it will take place on Wednesday or Thursday of next week. They will also release Super Mario Bros 3 (in US) and Pokemon Bank (Europe and US) on that day.

This is a very good point. They may do it that day or the day before to remind us about it. If that's the case, we really can't get one later in the month, anyways, so it'll hold the record, for a while. XD
Also worth noting, if we don't get e-mails about it, tomorrow, it's almost guaranteed to be the 29th or 30th. I find it hard to believe they'd hold it off until the very last day of the month, but hey, who knows? Even if they skip January altogether, it'll be fine. That'll just make February's Direct all the more interesting. But I really doubt they'll pass up a chance to make one more crack the "Dee Ear ob Ruigi."
I never understood that. I can say yes and not be disappointed when it doesn't happen. I can also say yes and still be excited, when it does. Hell, I can speculate on what games we'll see, only get half of them, and be glad I got that half, as well as the extra info. Not that I care about Poke'mon Bank or Dr. Luigi, but seeing that they're a work in progress or coming to the eShop still gives me a bit of warmth.
Also, I have a feeling we'll get the announcement tomorrow and the Direct on the 30th, but maybe that's just me.
