well, you could always, you know catch some wild pokemon. You don't even have to use you starter once your get some other pokemon to use.

You don't understand...

Even the wild pokemon found near the beginning of the game won't give you any advantage, so your only chance at having one would be to choose Tepig.
Choosing Oshawott won't give you any advantages or disadvantages, so it's neutral.
And choosing Snivy will actually leave you at a type disadvantage, so it will be "hard".

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

after seeing Oshawott's first evolution, you should maybe take him (though don't let him evolve further, he's ugly after).

Get your eyes checked. Oshawott and Dewott are ugly, while Samurott looks awesome.

couldnt have said it better my self and i chose tepig

have a wii, dsi, gba and gcn but getting a 3ds and ps3. my fave game of alltime for all systems is black ops on wii

I don't understand? Come now, the games are made for kids. It doesn't matter which starter you choose, this game isn't 'hard'.

I'm torn, this is the first time there hasn't been a clear selection for me.

I wish the names were as cute as the Pokemon. I usually go with fire but I can't stand the little guys' name, and I don't like to rename my Pokemon.

Oshawott sounds like he's named after a Canadian territory, and I couldn't live with that. So I might have to go with Snivy, despite not liking grass type Pokemon...

This might be the first Pokemon game where I just ditch my starter a.s.a.p. >.>

yeah in the province of ontario in a city called Oshawa where i currently live in dude

I picked Snivy, but I only used him until the 3rd gym, now I use Ferroseed as my grass type.

Ugh. Of course it's not "hard". Choosing Snivy just makes it a little "hardER".

Kinda. But it's okay, I'll drop it now.

I picked Tepig. His evolution is royally ugly but he's a hardcore dude. I can't say I regret my choice.

I just started playing. I like Snivy's final form, so I picked it. I haven't picked a Plant type for my starter since I chose Bulbasaur in Red.

I choose all three. Takes a while to do but with two dsi and a copy of both black and white it is possible.

Hey guys and gals, looking for advice on who i start with. The only one I'm definately not starting with is Oshawatt because my only friend with a copy of the game has picked him as his starter. I have heard its harder with the grass guy which is plus (and also I will have a type advantage against my mate), but I am really torn because I don't particularly like the look of either.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a Pokemon noob and I'm having a lot of success with Tepig. He's a great all-around fighter, and once you learn the Fire Charge (and get some Charcol) he becomes an unstoppable force against all except water-based pokemon. He's an ugly little thing but he gets the job done.

Tepig is the easiest one to use, because fire-type has the advantage through the start of the game.

Here I go again.
