Question, how long did it take for any of you (with jobs or college if you have it) to make a simple game?
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever attempted to make a simple game in my life. It's always been grand projects that have failed miserably. This latest project has differed from my past ones, where I'm actually quite far in development.
@BlackSpy I work as a research assistant 20 hours a week, plus grad school. I made Village in about 2 months (I took a month off). It's finished for now, but I'd still like to add to it later. Your question was a good one to throw out there, but why did you ask it?

i just edited it to replace mario with pikachu :3

Hmmm...perhaps you two could work together. Twin could program characters, and Coinz AI. I'm not sure if you two want to do that, but it could make the development go by quicker.

Look for my "Follow4" qr code on 163 of this forum. It demonstrates shooting up to six bullets from a character to a target in all directions.
I've actually had that for a while, but it was really past my understanding . And to the other person that replied to me, I'm confused on what to do. I did what you said but kept getting things like illegal function calls. Can anyone else try to tell me what he meant? It was a bit confusing, sorry. Could I use variables for the spofs coordnites? What would be the proper way of writing that?

I think maybe it's time for you to post your code, so we can assess your level of understanding. It's okay to try and fail, but without any specifics, we can't help you. Here's what I think what you want to do: You have a character(sprite 1) who shoots a bullet (sprite 2), and you want the bullet to go from the character (sprite 1) to somewhere (could be the direction he's facing, or maybe a particular enemy, or touch screen in stylus.)
You need:
1. Create the sprites SPSET for both the character and the bullet.
2. Read the current position of the character SPREAD
3. Get the desired destination coordinates, and the time (in frames) to get there. Use SPOFS.
For example: Here's a boy (1)shooting a fireball(2) 200 pixels away to the right in 100 frames.
SPSET 1,64,0,0,0,0
SPSET 2,142,0,0,0,0
'PUT THE BOY AT COORDINATE 30,50
SPOFS 1,30,50
WAIT 300
'READ BOY POSITION
SPREAD(1),X,Y
'SET FIREBALL TO BOY POSITION
SPOFS 2,X,Y
'SHOOT FIREBALL TO DESIRED DESTINATION AND TIME FRAME
SPOFS 2,X+200,Y,100

My things are almost never simple. I've been working in one program for about a month (?) now, and have still not released even a demo. I like doing things that no one has made before (bold and italic text using &o and &l). I started with SmileBASIC (Petit Computer) about a month 1/2 ago, but started with Visual Basic at age 9, but quit at about 10. But after 5 years, I found PTC and I finally can efficiently make games. I hope I'm not boring you with my autobiography. xD

Hmm, I get an illegal Function call when I use that SPHITSP code. This seems to be because there is no bullet sprite currently in the game. How can I get around this? When you hit A the bullet only appears for 1/2 a second. Am I supposed to check for the SPHITSP everytime I shoot a bullet/press A?

You need to show code. Otherwise we can't help you with illegal Function call.
Create a bullet sprite from the beginning, hide it. Store it off screen, and only bring it into play when you press A
You need to check SPHITSP all the time. Everytime you go through the main loop, you need to check it.

I really just shouldn't have said anything about Waffle's game; I'm very sorry I did. The wiki has totally exploded with comments (on my page and his) like "Oh, his game is going to be great! I believe in him, and you should help him!", and "A rushed game isn't good. I'm willing to wait!". I think they all missed the point that he lied about his progress... you know, LIED. And now I've got Waffle trying to tell me he didn't mean it and that he's a nice guy (who still hasn't admitted that he lied and is still trying to tell everyone that he's got everything done).
The next time this happens (which will undoubtedly be soon), I'll just keep quiet, even if it means that people will continuously follow a liar. I guess people just need to realize for themselves, at their own pace, when someone is lying to them.

Don't let it go to he sprite collision if the bullet doesn't exist. Make a variable when you create th bullet, and remove when the bulle is gone. I the variable doesn' eual 0, let the collision check go throuh. If it does, din't!

So I came up with a nifty way to do smooth-scrolling text (like the credits of a movie or the Star Wars intro... or something). It's built in to Village 1.0.2, but if anybody's interested in it, I'll extract the function and explain how it works.
