Basically what Mikero said, with Mega Mushroom and tiny handheld screen added to "Bad." Despite my less than enthusiastic response to star coins in NSMBW, I actually loved them in NSMBDS. If I recall correctly, they served no greater purpose, or at least no purpose that I cared about, so collecting them was not required to play all the levels, which made me feel less frustrated trying to get the few harder ones.
Pros: it has multiplayer and has classic gameplay. Cons: Easy, Bad level design, music sucks, lack of characters and level varity, accidental shake may lead to death, Propeller Hat=Instant Win.

We're talking about the DS version ballkirby1. Actually read the title before posting false, terrible accusations on a masterpiece. Also, NSMBwii's music did not suck.
To everyone who says this game is too easy: please clarify whether you think it is easy as far as Mario games go, or whether you think it's hard for a Mario game but still easy for you.
I am very skilled at Mario games, and while I did not have much trouble with this game, I still believe that's it's second only to Lost Levels in terms of difficulty.
EDIT: I thought we were talking about NSMBW. Nevermind.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
