@Tyranexx No joke I had to put the game down, it got that hard lol. Ya, it's kinda funny it's a free download, because all you get is a demo for free. The rest of the game is $15 (not bad for a 10/10 puzzle game).

@Kermit1 I like a good challenge, especially when it comes to puzzles. But I do have limits lol. Is that $15 CAD? Buying the whole bundle at once in USD was $10 before tax, but it would've been more if I'd bought them separately.

@Kermit1 I kinda figured but thought I'd ask in case you fell into the trap of buying them separately. Glad that wasn't the case.

@Tyranexx I bought all at once because of the fear of the shop closure lol.

@Kermit1 I've been gradually picking up a couple of games here and there over time; I should be done by the time both eShops close. I'm almost finished with 3DS and will work on the rest of the Wii U pickups I want after that.

@Tyranexx I finished a few months ago. I didn't have too mnay to pick up.

@Kermit1 The only 3DS game I still need is Crimson Shroud off the eShop. Anything I still need on the Wii U is mostly VC related. I'm still on the fence about picking up Pandora's Tower.

Wii U:

  • Metroid Prime: Hunters - I downloaded this just for the novelty since I haven't played any of the Metroid spinoffs. It's a Prime title in condensed form, quite a technical feat for the DS. However, I just haven't been able to adapt to any of the control schemes. Buttons seem to work better than stylus at least. Also, the only upgrades appear to be beam weapons.

3DS:

  • Crimson Shroud - Haven't given this one a proper try yet, but it's really reminiscent of a tabletop RPG. I think I'll enjoy this one if the mechanics gel with me.

Seems I forgot this thread existed. Time for an update!

3DS:

  • Mole Mania (GBC) - A little-known Miyamoto gem. I played through this about a month ago and beat the game...though not 100%. It's a fun action puzzle title where Monty Mole has to dig, push, and pull his way through the seven levels of Jinbe Land to rescue his kidnapped wife and kids. There are literally two layers to each level: an above-ground section and an underground section Monty can dig through. The layouts of both the surface and underground can change the puzzle solutions and force the player to really think about what they're doing, lest they need to reset the level and try again.

Wii U:

  • Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (GBA) - This'll probably be my last retro Kirby game pickup unless I decide to grab either Kirby's Dream Land 3 or Kirby 64 on the system as well. I haven't tried this one yet - probably after I finish a current game I have going - but it's apparently Kirby meets Metroidvania and is somewhat close to The Great Cave Offensive from Kirby Super Star.
  • Paper Mario (N64) - Not sure when I'll get to this one either, but this is a gaping hole in my Mario RPG collection. I've only played most of the Paper Mario entries from Super Paper Mario on up, so it'll be nice to try one of its well-lauded predecessors. Now if only The Thousand Year Door was accessible on modern devices, instead of needing to emulate or pay an arm and a leg....(WinkWinkNudgeNudge @ Nintendo)

In some of my final eShop sweeps, I was reminded that DSiWare is still a thing. I picked up both Bird & Beans/Pyoro and Art Style: PiCTOBiTS. B&B out of nostalgia since it's connected to the WarioWare series, the latter because I've seen it mentioned as a hidden gem.

I grabbed the following from the Wii U eShop yesterday:

  • Pushmo World
  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

I realize the latter is now on NSO, but I discovered it was missing from my Wii U collection.

Just went on a 3DS eShop binge. Crimson Shroud, Pullblox, Cave Story 3D and Binding of Isaac.

TBH, my 3DS backlog alone could keep me going till about 2028. Such a great handheld.

I came across NL's review of Puzzle Labyrinth recently and liked the sound of it, so I made sure to grab it the other day when I saw it's on sale for 89p. I won't go through all the other games I've bought recently or we'd be here all day, but I've ticked off the majority of my list now. I think Hana Samurai is the only eShop original I still need to get, then there's a few Wii U Virtual Console games I want too. It's going to be sad to see the back of the eShop on both of these platforms, but at least I've filled them with enough games to keep be busy for a long time.

I finally caved last weekend to the $2.99 Capcom prices and picked up the three main series Ace Attorney titles I was missing. Specifically:

  • Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice

I just bought a game with the title Flight Island Simulator (or something similar) for Wii U. Maybe not the best game but it was so cheap, only around 1,25 dollars. It was a very spontaneous purchase. I am supposed to mainly buy games which are not available on other places than eshop since eshop is closing so soon but only 1 dollar..it seemed like a game i could not find as cheap elsewhere. I might give it a spin or go or drive or flight later tonight.

I picked up just about everything I wanted on the 3DS (including Pokemon Yellow - I considered getting one of the other Gen 1 games, but you can get the missing pokemon with glitches) - mostly from the Atlus catalogue, plus Shadows of Valentia, and now, in the past day, I've turned to the WiiU.

I'm really keen to get a hold of Twilight Princess, because the resale prices are ludicrous, but I might just have to settle with my Wii disc version. No point buying a WiiU version when I can play it through the Wii menu.
I was also interested in getting either or both of the DS Zelda games - I never actually beat them. My switch is currently 12 miles away, so I can't add funds via that, but it seems I could do it through the webpage, so I might pick up a few last games.

Edit: The games I purchased were:

  • Pokémon Yellow Version
  • Pokémon Crystal Version
  • Shakedown: Hawaii
  • Mighty Switch Force 2
  • Etrian Odyssey Nexus
  • Etrian Odyssey IV: Legend of the Titan
  • Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight
  • Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
  • Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
  • Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
  • Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

I bought Butterfly Inchworm Animation finally. I kinda assumed I already had it, but no. It's been on my 'Get' list for years, I guess I must've let the eshop review score put me off.

Software that adds quality functionality to my handheld is what I like to support. Bit late in the day, obvs, but nevertheless, happy to buy it for £7.

But I've been going through the various recommendations of stuff to get before the eshop closes and there's not much else that's doing enough to make me wanna buy. If everything was 50% off then I'd probably be picking up quite a lot of stuff, but a lot of what's on there isn't on sale and I don't think I'm going to let the fact they're closing the eshop suddenly force me into splashing the cash on some very 'maybe' games.

I'd probably pickup the Korg and Rytmik titles, but at the prices listed and with the DS physical Korg title and Korg Gadget on my Switch, it doesn't seem justified. All those Rytmik titles should get bundles together into one for that price at this stage. There's duplicate content on each of them ffs.

The one I would most like to try is Nintendo Pocket Football Club, but at £13 it loses out by virtue of my £10 limit on digital purchases. Why the heck is a game like that not now £5 or less?

@gcunit

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but regarding Rytmik, Rytmik Ultimate is essentially the ultimate version, and the only one anyone needs to buy. I was a bit peeved after buying the base version, Rock and Retrobits, only for a 'definitive' version to be eventually released.

Something I was a bit disappointed about with Pocket Football Club - the purchasable teams have long since become unavailable. I remember a while back trying to purchase some of the special teams and was unable to. I think they were time limited. Playing practice games against them provided you with useful cards to train your squad with.

@edhe I think I may have find that out once before actually, now you mention it. Thanks for the reminder, and thanks for the info about Pocket Football. Didn't realise it involved cards; not a big fan of that mechanic, they use cards in FIFA FUT and I can't get into that.
