For those that didn't watch the stream. This version will have online leaderboards next to miiverse sharing and the Speed Mario Bros. game which is Super. Mario Bros only double the speed. Other then that the game pretty much looked like an NES remix with more popular games and a bit more off an challenge.
Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am
The game has remix 1 and 2 and some other games like kirby adventure, legend of zelda and a bunch of others plus speed mario bros and online leader boards. It's more than just remix 1 & 2. I am definitely getting it since I didn't get the Wii U games.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
I picked up Ultimate Remix for 3DS (and am selling my Wii U version) since this seems better suited for the 3DS and the games dropped from the Wii U version are pretty much games I'm definitely NOT interested in.
Just curious, are some of the levels supposed to have a bit of 'flicker' to nostalgia?
I noticed that some of the baddies will 'flicker' a bit, but its only withing the gameplay and not on the interface or any other areas. Just curious if something is wrong with my cartridge or if it's normal to bring back nostalgia from the 80's?
Any "flicker" is probably idiosyncratic of the NES hardware. It's certainly not a deliberate visual queue as the NES Remix games emulate the games as closely to the original hardware as possible.
While Ultimate NES Remix is very expensive relative to what the Wii U versions of NES Remix 1 & 2 offer for a small fraction of the price, I've enjoyed Ultimate a LOT more, and I ended up completing it 100% while the Wii U versions have collected dust (so to speak). I'm actually glad that they've excised some of the poorer games from the NES catalogue as I've found them virtually impossible to complete in the Wii U version.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

@sillygostly What? There's no way 'flicker' on a 3DS could be anything other than intentional or a defect. Did you experience some of the characters flickering?
I'm surprised some moderator hasn't stepped in and shut this thread down for being revived after being idle for a time, since it bothers some people for some nonsensical reason even though there are perfectly valid reasons for reviving a thread and no logical reason why it should bother anyone if properly done.
That said, flicker in NES Remix and flicker on NES downloads off the 3DS Virtual Console aren't necessarily one and the same. The Virtual Console is utilizing emulation and running original code. NES Remix are full fledged recreations and don't utilize any original code. So asking him what his VC downloads are doing isn't going to really solve anything and prove that it's deliberate and was done to be faithful to the source material or some other idiosyncrasy.
One thing that kept me away from this 3DS "best of" edition of the NES Remix line was button mapping. I'm a fan of Y & B for two button Nintendo gaming on Nintendo's 4 button layout, and can't get that here. Can't get it on the Wii U either with Nintendo's 4 button controllers like the Wii U gamepad and Classic Controllers, but thanks to a sideways NES remote that mimics the layout of an original NES controller, I've been able to enjoy the Wii U counterpart.
I should really plug in my NES Classic controller and see how it fairs with this one, since it has A & B positioned how I like it for 2 button Nintendo gaming.
@GoneFishin It's better to bump an old thread than start a one. Haven't you noticed most games have their own thread? What chaos it would be to start a new thread for each question when one already exists. That way future users can see one thread with all the questions and answers for a particular title/topic.
I'm just trying to figure out if the occasional Goomba flicker I see is normal a defect in the cartridge I bought. Everything seems to work fine, just the occasional flicker and I only recall seeing it in Mario.
I'm all for coming down hard on someone that bumps a 10 year old thread for a stupid reason, such as one that was originally started to ask a question, just to be an idiot by stating that sorry, but they don't know the answer. But when it's legitimately done, I think it's unfortunate that it ruffles a few people's feathers for reasons I've never been able to pinpoint.
I'm like you and will go searching for an existing thread to do some research before posting, such as if it's a question I have that might already have been answered in an older thread. And if I didn't find what I was searching for but saw a past thread relevant to the subject at hand, I'll just revive it to ask my question or post my comment. To me, that's proper forum etiquette rather than something distasteful like seems to be the stance around here.
To get something about NES Remix in my post, I'm also saddened that it seemed to fly under the radar. I suppose it's natural given that it's a retread from the Wii U, but I hope the line in general succeeded enough to give us SNES Remix on the Nintendo Switch sometime in the next few years.
