Why would those be the starters' names? Those sound like legendary pokemon if I've ever known any. At least we know we'll get some pokemon that relate to the solar and lunar themes retconned right in there with Cresselia and Lunatone. Those could be cool designs.

(We still haven't seen a single pokemon from this game, lmao.)

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

He said mascots, not starters.

Anyway, those names are dreadful, to me lunaala literally means moonwing. Then there's that use of Sol again.

Like, literally those are the exact Spanish words, no changes. Of course, I have no evidence that they tried to go with gratuitous Spanish, but that's just how it looks to me.

Anyway, they're just the Japanese names.

No, the article cites speculation that they are 'mascott starters.'

And pokemon names actually get translated? You just blew my mind. I had always thought that they were the same globally, lol. I guess that wouldn't work with characters, but still.

Anyway, even if they're in Japanese the names at least indicate sun / moon-themed monsters, which always look at least a little cool.

Pokemon Sun & Moon are up for preorder on Best Buy Canada but they are $59.99. Definitely waiting for E3 deals before preordering these games. Just because I will need to get a copy for my older two kids too.

Pokemon raked in $2.1 Billion in 2015, an increase from 2014. Note the lack of a main series game last year.

Press release:

The Pokemon Company wrote:

The Pokémon 20th anniversary kicked off with the brand’s first ever Pokémon Super Bowl ad during Super Bowl 50, which was viewed by more than 110 million people during the game and watched more than 26 million times on YouTube. The spot encourages fans to Train On. Four Mythical Pokémon video game character distribution events will take place at participating GameStop locations throughout 2016, with one being distributed quarterly. TOMY International, Pokémon’s master toy licensee, has also created special Mythical Pokémon figures and plush to celebrate 20 years of Pokémon. Pokémon TCG fans can celebrate 20 years of Pokémon with the Pokémon TCG: Generations expansion. Highly anticipated Pokémon video games launch in 2016, including the fast-action fighting game for the Wii U, Pokkén Tournament, which launched in March. Also, the seventh generation of Pokémon video games, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, will launch in time for holiday season for the Nintendo 3DS family systems.

There's confirmation that Sun/Moon are Gen 7. No more of that "Gen 6.5" nonsense.

Game Freak are going to do a Nintendo and show off a very short snippet of gameplay footage dedicated to grass!

@Grumblevolcano: Well Grass Pokemon are the best/most important Pokemon in the whole series, so that makes grass very important. I am looking forward to it lol

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

DefHalan

@123ash3: all grass pokemon are better than all other pokemon

@123ash3: You're ignoring the fact that most grass types work as bulky heavy damage self-healers. Giga Drain often makes up for their lack of speed.

Also, I disagree with your stance on the aesthetic looks of grass types. Lilligant, the Bulbasaur, the Chickorita line, the Treeko line, the Skiddo line, the oddish line(s), and many others look aesthetically pleasing, especially to people who love cute things and nature. Heck, even Chespin looks super adorable (although the rest of his line is super meh). On a side note, I'm pretty sure that he was joking when he said all grass types are best.

Okay, 21:00 JST is only a few minutes away, but before we get any official information, here is a remix of my speculative bad guy battle theme by the lovely FL.Remix:

He's gone updated all the instruments with an Gen 6 style sound palette, and I think it's really cool how it's turned out. Let me know what you think

Ooh wowzers. "The Aloha Region". Not hiding the Hawaii influence there then. Starters took me slightly aback originally. I really liked the Grass one, wasn't keen on the Fire one (something about its eyes), and was confused by the Water one, but have grown fond of it. People seemed to guess what Solgaleo was going to look like a hyper-Pyroar from its name, but the moon one is... something I don't think anyone could have guessed. It's definitely odd. Maybe intriguingly and mysteriously odd. Maybe just odd.

The running about on the main road section was interesting too. Looked a bit empty though...

@Nintenbomba128: Well it certainly continues Pokemon's series of emotionally overwrought videos!

Poor little Shohei has just moved from Japan to Hawaii and is overwhelmed by having to fit into a new culture and learn a new language, and he doesn't have any friends at school and has to eat lunch all by himself. But then he buys Pokemon and the whole world opens up and he can make and share experiences with everybody including the nice boy who clapped him earlier and the music gets louder and people start singing "WOAAH" in a meaningful and passionate way and then it crescendoes and EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT BECAUSE POKEMON AND SHOHEI'S MUM DOESN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM ANYMORE BECAUSE HE HAS BRIDGED THE BARRIERS BETWEEN HIMSELF AND THE WORLD AND HAS MADE FRIENDS AND FOUND STABILITY AND HAPPINESS IN HIS NEW LIFE!

HOORAAAY!

I think it goes something like that. And it's very effective. In fact, I almost resent its emotional impact. They're getting too good, these video marketing people.
