Truthfully, as time goes on Pokemon Sun and Moon are becoming less and less exciting. I know next to nothing about them, and all I have to go off of are logos. When you announce something you're supposed to stir up excitement by at least showing a little of what it has to offer. XY had news all throughout its reveal, and we actually got to see parts of the region and the Pokemon in it the day it was revealed.
I hope they actually put some effort into the creature designs this time. The last two grass starters have been pathetic and—though I liked a lot of the XYORAS designs—there have been a lot of chibi scribbles passed off as pokemon.
They showed us some concepts and stuff when they announced this game. I'd rather them draw it out anyways. I want to be surprised when playing this game. I don't want to know everything before this game comes out and I can play it.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
X/Y had a different schedule of pre-release info than previous games. Don't compare it to those games, compare it to D/P or B/W. It's a very controlled pre-release period.
They did only say that coverage "starts" this month. We got some blank boxarts, details about this year's movie event, and confirmation that Magearna is Steel/Fairy.
I'm a little disappointed but not upset about this. Waiting and scrounging about the internet for details is nothing new to the gaming industry. Kinda fun too.
Anyways I wished they would give us more info already, was thinking of "rebreeding" some of the Pokemon I have already and redo the Super training just to start over in this one.

Keep it PG-13-ish.

Nearly every Pokemon game has had at least a 2 month gap. Even XY had pretty much nothing from the reveal trailer in January until May (all they gave us was teases for Sylveon and Mega Mewtwo Y). BW2 was pretty bad as well because they announced them to be sequels to BW without explaining what that even meant and gave us nothing but Kyurem's forms until April when they finally showed what the game was like. This is nothing new, they do this all of the time.
Magearna hopefully will have a decent moveset. I assume its BST is 600 if it's Gen 7's "mirage" legendary (the Mew/Celebi/Jirachi/etc equivalent). Could potentially be an Uber.
I also think Gen 7 will have four Mythical/event legendaries like Gen 4 and 5.

Maybe not. With the NX on the horizon 7th gen probably won't last too long. I expect no more than 3 years before they make the transition to the NX.
I expect exactly that at this point. Everything specific they do with Pokemon is so intuitive and utterly baffling to me—I just never expect it. Except a few items in 6th gen.
I hope these games will be somewhat more difficult. The "healing houses/persons" in the middle of routes (for example the nurse near mt Pyre in ORAS) should not be a thing any more. (I know, they are optional, but the whole experience of adventuring is somewhat affected by them). And another wish is that the gym leaders should become more memorable or involved. Black&White (1&2) did a great job at this. The new dialogues in oras are sometimes a bit cringeworthy or standard gym leader text(Wattson...). XY's gym leaders did not care about team flare at all. At leat in oras, the champion was somewhat bothered by the plans of an evil team.
My last wish: make certain items or HM's harder to find. Instead of a cutscene after which somebody gives you the HM for no good reason, it should be the case that you have actually found something or brought them something. The ruby and sapphire had the harbour mail that could be traded for an item. That was great, as it encouraged adventuring more.
All that being said, I do understand that kids should be able to play the games, too. But they are capable of finding items, I imagine.
@Inubis: I partly disagree. I'd say that perhaps gym leaders should be more difficult, and that healers should probably be more sparse, but you shouldn't make items harder to get. Getting evolution items is already a hassle, and who wants to go through a lot of work to get an HM, the most loathed gimmick moves in Pokemon?
The best thing about XY and ORAS is that they weren't that hard to get into and that you didn't have to spend several trivial hours grinding every two cities or so (that is if you want to maintain peak efficiency). You could literally go to work for 8 hours, come home and make dinner, then devote whatever little time you have left to playing Pokemon and actually get things DONE. Perhaps Pokemon's new formula doesn't bode well for people who have too much time on their hands, but people with jobs and college have voiced quite a bit of delight with this change, and I agree with them.

You nailed it on the head. I haven't played anything except pokemon Y and AS since March. This is mainly do to the fact that once I get off work and do the husband and father stuff I can sit in bed and weather it be 5min or an hour I feel like I actually got some where in a video game.
One day I plan on blowing the dust off my ps4 again but for now this seems to work for me just fine.
