For a game that I haven't spent a cent on, it isn't that bad... yet. I'm currently around stage 78, so maybe about halfway through?

I find it incredible that you are already at stage 78. I thought I'd been playing the game a lot, and I am only at stage 22ish. I do keep replaying stages until I catch the Pokemon, and I have been trying to get S-rank on everything. Are you doing that too?

@utopianmachine No, I seem to have 31 non-S-ranks out of 89 cleared in main mode, and there are many Pokemon I haven't caught. And by clearing the stages only once I have gained more money per match than you - 100 coins vs 30 coins for repeated wins.

Still, I've now found myself against a brick wall called Mega Mawile; in spite of buying that 5 extra turns thing I haven't manage to beat that yet. Sounds like I'll try to catch more Pokemon and try to train the ones supposedly strong against that one.

Ah, I see. Different ways to play. I also keep retrying the Expert Stages, trying to catch those really low-catch-rate Pokemon. And yeah, I noticed the money different in first time vs later tries, but I haven't spent any in-game currency yet. Just waiting to see if I'll ever need to. I suppose if you just keep trying all the stages forever, you're bound to eventually beat the percentages and catch everything.

Are all the Pokémon you catch at Lv. 1?

So far that I've seen. It seems they start at level 1, and you level them up through using them and winning in battle.

Actually, losing gives them EXP too.

Oh, does it? Good to know.

What I can't figure out is why Pokemon not in my party also appear on the battlefield sometimes. I haven't seen any in-game tips that say why that is yet.

They're a different type of interference. Instead of rock or unbreakable blocks, they throw in Pokemon that won't benefit you and your matches. For example, I recently beat a Mega-Mawile stage where Eevee's would appear to stop me from making solid combo chains - Normal is ineffective against Steel, on top of that.

It's funny because the dragon pokemon I have found have that kind of interference, and dragon is effective against dragon so they usually end up helping me.

Definitely a difficulty spike to those Expert levels. I'm on level 73, have caught all of them up to that point with an S (S rank is fairly easy, I think) rank on all levels. No money spent.

But I can't catch an Expert Pokemon. I've beaten the level, but the Catch rate is so low.

I managed to catch Absol when I beat the stage with ~32 seconds remaining, and Lucario with 51 or 52. For the latter I think I had to use 2500 Coins on a Super Ball, though, as I was fed up with it and needed him desperately for Mega Mawile.

The catch rates there are ridiculous nonetheless. I imagine I'll leave most of the Expert levels for after I'm done with the Normal ones, perhaps trying to catch one now and then if they can come in really handy for the more complicated Normal stages.

In terms of game progression, I've beaten level 60, and have caught all Pokémon up to that point as well (I haven't S ranked all of them, but most of them. Unless you finish with 1 or 0 moves, you seem to always get S).

I haven't paid attention to the Expert levels, though. I tried one a few days ago, and haven't went back since losing, lol.

I beat the Absol stage a few times, and then I got to catch it on maybe my 4th time beating him, with something around 15% catch rate. I just keep trying. But I'm only around level 25ish. I replay stages a fair amount. Keep trying to get Lucario, which is one of my favorites, but I've only beat the stage once.

Grinding on the meowth stage to get coins and hopefully a team strong enough to help me beat the lucario stage, I just need some more power

I just experienced a weird bug with Mega Slowbro.
He was doing chains one after another like crazy. But suddenly 2 of them got "stuck" and didn't fall down. After that, every normal match counted as a chain(with the usual sound). I beat the Pokemon but nothing happened then. I was able to exit the game, but it didn't count as finished. :3

Still haven't been ableto catch Mew!

Mew took me at least 5 tries. Him and the expert stage Pokemon are really touch to get.

Currently on level 100-something against Ninetales. In this area many pokes are escaping from me with high catch rates, which is kind of frustrating, but right now I just want to push on. Once I'm done with the regular stages I'll complete whatever I left behind more easily, as well as the Expert stages.

Also, a heads up - apparently in the Special stages bit they'll be putting a new Pokemon everyday. Today was an Ice-type Rotom, pretty easy to catch.

LinkSword

Eel

The bad news is that they removed the daily Meowth stage, aw.

But yeah, ice rotom was a fairly easy catch. I wonder if they'll offer other alternate forms/gendered pokemon this way.

They didn't remove it, it's only available during weekends. Until sometime in March if I remember correctly, which is when they'll remove it for good.

Here's a useful tidbit I saw elsewhere - and confirmed myself - for some easy money. You know how Mew's stage gives you 1000 coins upon beating it? It seems that's not limited to the first time. You can beat Mew once a day and get 1000 coins each time. Pretty helpful.

Oh, and Mega Glalie -stage 120- was awful. Good luck to any of you guys when you get there.

I can confirm that this is true. Thanks for the tip.
