@Rikaria: Accomplished the Throh challenge. Used Ralts just after the rocks appeared and changed the disruption counter from 3 to 1.
I only need to complete the 100 coins challenge as well as the 20 (exactly) combo on the Psychic Pokemon. Have wasted like 50 hearts on that level alone. Managed to have 16, 19 (3 tiems), 21 (4 times) and a myriad of combos from 22-80 using a M-Gengar, Deoxys and Uxie team. By using Psychics (not very effective), I had the chance of making 3-4 large combos per play, before defeating Chimecho.
Using Rayquazza managed a 120-combo on the same stage. Only need to aaccomplish the 20-combo challenge, as well as the 100 coins one (already like 40-50 coins).
@Obito_Sigma: I used Ralts, Fearow, Omastar and Abra, I think. You just have to not make any Ralts combo until Throh makes a disruption. The counter then resets to 3 and that is the only sensible time to do it: Ralts can't set the counter any higher (to my best knowledge/experience), so it should set it to 1. Make a 4 combo with Ralts that at the same time trigger some block smashing. Pray that the rocks don't overlap existing rocks!!
Throh must be defeated within 15 moves, so you have, normally, like three disruptions, yielding 36 blocks; use a +5 Moves as well as the Prank Poke: you'll have like 5 disruptions (one every 4 turns) and 20 moves, and up to 60 rocks to smash, so a bit overlapping of the rocks can occur.
If you use a jewel you still have to use the +5 Moves or the Prank Pokemon.
Finally, a 20 combo on Chimecho. Grinding Meowth for the time being.
In order to obtain 100 coins on the Sunday Meowth stage, you need to make like:
34- 3 combos, that amount to 3,400 coins points (102 real coins); 2.3 combos per move
25- 4 combos, that amount to 7,500 coins points (100 real coins); 1.67 combos per move
20- 5 combos, that amount to 10,000 coins points (100 real coins); 1.33 combos per move
17- 6 combos, that amount to 11,900 coins points (102 real coins); 1.13 combos per move.
Or, let's say: 15 -3combos (45 coins), 8 - 4 combos (32), 4 - 5 combos (20) and 1 -6 combo (6), for a total of 103 coins. It'll mean like 7 coins per move and 2 combos per move.
Thinking about going with M-Rayquazza an some Quirk+ Pokes, since I'm gonna use a Mega Start anyway.
@maceng: good job, its a nice challenge, ive been grinding throh but having no luck, but i just got that 100 coin one too, only 6600 coins tho, pretty good for me
i like that rayquaza team better than mew also
im liking the update a lot, new goodies and the stage selection is so much better now
@8Darky: Me too. Well, except for the Survival Mode.
Unless there's only 30 stages or so, with very good rewards at the end (Mega Speedup good, I mean), then is a scam, IMHO.
I managed to get to level 16 using like 4k-5k coins, then I decided to go to the end (stage 30 or so): enlisted M-Charizard, Garchomp, Genesect and Lucario. Got to level 22 wasting like 20-22k coins, and just got a measly Exp Booster S (level 10) and a Exp Booster M (level 20).
I'd prefer to beat Ampharos using a 1.5Exp Booster everytime and no this Survival scam.
I read that someone blew like 100k coins getting to level 50, which is insane. Still, he got 5 raise Max Level candies.
@maceng: yeah i agree about survival, an ok diversion from meowth/amphoros but the rewards are bunk those max level ups only work on certain pokemon, most being not very good or useless
the mission cards were good fun tho and i really like the stage selection now, much more user friendly than before =D
I've only tried Survival Mode once with some random team of high power Pokémon and I got up to level 16. I needed just one more combo to advance to the next level. I didn't use items and I don't have any max level Pokémon yet.
I don't know what to think of it yet. I have to try it out again sometime and actually think what kind of team would be the best fit. I had really bad team against Steel type on my first try. 3/4 were not very effective.
@Rikaria@Nego: mhm same here. i cant stand the safari's and low catch rates this game constantly has, also not a big fan of the timed stages, ive come very close to quitting it a few times. but sadly im an addict and cant stop till i catch em all, only around 200 'mon to go now =D
its still my favorite match 3 game, but puzzle dragons is very close, and getting closer with every safari...
@8Darky: @Rikaria: I'm a day 1 player as well and am missing about 91 of the Pokémon made available in the game. While I can get annoyed by the small chance of encountering certain monsters in the Safari challenges, I get more annoyed when I use all the items on a regular stage, only to fail catching the pokemon with the second or third great ball before the dang thing escapes (I'm looking especially at you, Aegislash!).
Another thing I'm annoyed is that I missed a number of Pokemon last summer due to a long holiday trip. I've been waiting on reruns and thankfully I've been lucky with some of them. But then they decided to start rerunning the Daily Challenges from the first one right before they got to the Daily Pokemon Challenge I missed out last Summer. So annoying.
I've been mostly focusing on just playing the special stages whenever they get added lately. I used to do some Meowth grinding but had to stop when the irritation of failed attempts due to the RNG got physically stressful.
Well, I have already clocked in 604:47 hours on a single 3DS; I have two other 3DS that I keep coming to, and have like 300 hours on one and 250 on the other.
What pisses me the most of this game is having to use a ton of items on an unworthy Pokemon (with 40 or less HP), just to get to the next (unworthy) Pokemon.
Finally, angry Pikachu is mine. After catching the last Pokemon on the safari, it congratulates you on catching them all.
Now, to grind some more Meowth and try to best the Survival (it seems that you need at least 65k coins to do so).
@Rikaria: Too bad Angry Pikachu's catch rate is so bad that you are pretty much guaranteed to have to use a great ball unless you get extremely lucky.
I somehow managed to get Angry Pikachu within my first five tries on the safari and encountered it way before I did Clefairy. This was maybe one of the two or three safaris where I've been able to catch all the Pokémon within the first day.

Caught the last Safari Pokémon I was missing (Sawsbuck) yesterday. Only saw Angry Pikachu once in the whole time I played Safari and it was the first Pokémon I saw. Had to use a Great Ball to catch it.
Finally encountered and caught Angry Pikachu today. I can't remember whether I needed a Great Ball? (I probably did) and while the puzzle was super easy, I still checked out a walkthrough online as I didn't want to screw up a 2% chance encounter and potentially waste a jewel.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

I just noticed earlier this morning that Weekend Victini can be played several times now. Once you clear it for the first time on a Saturday, you'll get the option to unlock the level using a jewel. This will give you another go on the level which will expire once the day is full.
I can see it tempting to some but considering the Ampharos stage is pretty good for grinding exp and you can easily level up your Pokémon while grinding the Meowth stage for coins, it's not really worth spending the jewel in my opinion.
@Nego: I think that if you have a Pokemon that you really need maxed for a competition, then is worth it. Also, the value of a jewel is 3k-4k (for me is around 3.5k), so when you consider that in order to get 1600 Experience Points (using two jewels on the Victini level)for a given Pokemon, you have to play Ampharo's level 16 times, which could net you 8,000 coins, ideally, playing the Meowth level over and over again, then I think is a draw. Also, you do it in far less time.
For the Meowth level on Sunday, there is no question about it: with one jewel I could get like 6k coins (on a bad run), 8-9k on a good run, so, for me is worth it.
@Rikaria: Thanks for Survival Mode glitch. I tried it out and it works. It's pretty easy to do too. I feel dirty now though.
@maceng: I'd rather use the jewels for coins myself but I can see your point. The feature can be really good on weekend Meowth and I might use one for that tomorrow. However, I still personally would just use the Ampharos stage to level up my pokemon for competitions even if takes longer.
