So did you tried the glitch? How far did you go? How many coins did you use? Did you go (or are going) all the way?

I'm farming Meowth a bit, just to get to 65-70k coins range (I blew all my coins reaching Mewtwo Y yesterday and S-ranking a lot of levels) before trying this glitch. I'm planning to go all the way to level 50 and have the Survival stages done with.

@maceng: I got to Ampharos with five moves remaining and knew I was not going to make it. Especially without any poke that could deal with the ice blocks effectively.

I didn't bring enough coins for a full run either and ended up using less than 10 000 I believe. I also had a bad team of M-Gengar, Giratina, Genesect, and Darkrai, all maxed out. I should have gone with M-Rayquaza and probably Reshiram, Garchomp, and Giratina as that team is reported to be a good choice.

The glitch works and is a good find. People are now talking about it on Miiverse though so it's most likely guaranteed to get patched soon enough. I bought some coins with my jewels and used the one jewel on the Sunday Meowth so I now have around 50 000 coins. I'm still not sure if I should use them on Survival though especially since I'm most likely not going to get a lot of coins before Tuesday's update thanks to Hyrule Warriors Legends.

@Nego: I played with Keldeo resolute (8), M-Garchomp (max), Reshiram (max) and DIalgia (max).

Used the glitch and managed to beat level 44, but M-Gengar wasn't doable with just 8 moves left and not a good Pokemon to tackle with. Spent 10k coins also. My big mistake was squaring against M-Ampharos (level 40, I think), and forgetting to use both DD and MS.

I think that my team was good. I prepared a chart with the effectiveness of every type against the most common Pokemons on the first 150 levels and I think that a better team could be Reshiram, Giratina (at the fourth slot, trust me on this), Camerupt (its PO4 is better than Garchomp's Dragon Talon, higher HP notwithstanding) and Keldeo Resolute. Teams containing Steel, Water, Poison, Fairy, Electric, Dark, Flying, Psychic, Dragon and Normal are not good, while Grass, Rock and Bug could be useful depending on the Pokemons you have to deal with. You just need Giratina for M-Gengar, M-Mewtwo and some other ghosts and psychics Pokemons that appear, so that's why I keep it in the fourth slot (theonly problem could be Chimecho (3- Pokemon stage) but I dealt with it on my last run).

@Rikaria: So, you finished the Survival Mode? What team did you use, if I may ask?

I wish that at least you could take 6 Pokemons with you and used set your team just before each staqe. Wouldn't mind even been charged 5 hearts for it!

@maceng: I've never seen the point in using Camerupt apart from its yet-nonexistent mega stone. What's the deal with that pokemon?

@Nego: Its PO4: everytime you make a 4-Poke combo, it activates extra damage.

More and more I'm using Pokemons with PO4 and with PO4+ to tackle competitions, as it is a nice feature to have to make extra damage: PO4 increases damage by like 60% and PO4+ like 300%.

There is also PO5 and PO5+ but making a 5 combo is difficult as well as combo-breaker (if you make a 5-combo Pokemons, it is almost impossible to have a larger combo or skyfall).

If only they deliver the stone for Camerupt this upcoming week, I'll wait before tackling (again) the Survival Mode.

@maceng: Ah, so it's just the PO4 then. I focused on maxing all the pokemon that I could get to level 90 or higher in the past but now I'm focusing on pokemon with abilities that deal with distruptions or makes activating mega faster. But yeah, when grinding Meowth I obviously avoid any distruption effecting abilities which means that my focus is on completely other pokemon. Right now my go-to Meowth team is Noivern (lvl 2), Virizion (lvl 7), Gigalith (lvl 9), and Medicham (lvl 9).

@Nego: Virizion has become my favorite grass-type Pokemon, and Gigalith (along with Tyranitar) are my favorite rock types!

I use the same team over and over for grinding Meowth: their colors help me identify potential combos/risks. Everytime I switch to use other Pokemons, I end up making less.

I gave Survival another go. I got really lucky early on when Vulpix appeared on stage 9. One move victory which took my hearts back to 99 from 95.

But that was nothing compared to Espurr on stage 21. All it took was one successful PO4 match from Giratina. That was followed by Squirtle, Flaaffy, and Axew, all of which I was surprised to see at that point in Survival mode. And then I got Mawile on stage 26, once again doable in only one move. I also got some very good combos on Ampharos although that s.o.b. still halved my remaining moves. :

Sadly my run ended on M-Gengar. I'll most likely leave it at that. This run alone took about 40 000 coins so I don't think it's worth it really. Congrats @Rikaria for clearing the whole thing though!

@maceng: Virizion and Gigalith are both great ones and I really like them. I only was able to get Virizion a couple of months ago though.

I usually switch my pokemon for Meowth to make it more balanced and also to level them up. I try to keep at least one fighting pokemon for SE, one or two pokemon close to being maxed (lvl 8 or 9) and one that is a low level one (lvl 1-6). That way overkilling becomes less likely and will only happen if I get horribly unlucky and get a huge combo early on. The strategy I use also makes it more likely for me to have Meowth's HP low enough to take care of it with one fighting type match within the last two moves.

Of course, it won't work all the time and I'm used to going for less than 500 coins. But it's a strategy that works for me.

@Nego: What team did you use, besides Giratina?

maceng

Akane

@maceng: M-Ray, Garchomp, Reshiram, Giratina, in that order. All maxed out and M-Ray with 3/20 candies. I probably would have done a lot better had I had given M-Ray more mega speedups but sadly I don't have more right now.

Hmm. On survival (Using Glitch) I got to Mega Glalie fine itemless (76 moves left), then started to struggle. M-Glalie knocked me down to 40, due to constant freezes (which could be counterable using a DD.), then Zoroark and Ampharos finished me off. It'd be a pretty exact science to finish it itemless, especially without the Glitch...

A puzzle solved is its own reward.

@TheXReturns: I think it'll be rocket science to get to level 30 itemless and without the glitch (I saw a video of someone getting to level 26 with no items and no glitch, but, boy, was he lucky!!).

I just finished another run. Had terrible luck: I encounter every Pokemon I didn't before. all requiring 5 moves or more: Swablu, Throh, Sawk, Croagunk, every Slowbro (I mean, every one of them!!), Zorua, Zoroark, Haunter, Mismagius, you name it. Arrived at level 30 with 66 or so moves left, and arrived at M-Gengar with just 7 moves left (again). Used 25k worth of items to no avail.

Also, I found Ampharos at level 34 and Mismagius at 35. That was unexpected, to say the least.

@Rikaria: Oh so that's what the 1.5x messages were for! I was wondering what was going on. Good to know.

Sadly I don't have Mega Blaziken since it came out during my long holiday trip last Summer and still has not repeated. I'm currently at place 209/2978 with a score of 54 895 in the EUR contest (both items used). My team consists of M-Gengar, Reshiram, Ho-Oh, and Delphox as I thought a pyre team would do well with the addition of M-Gengar's fast evolving and pseudo C-1. I'll have to check what the situation is on next Monday so that I can try again if it looks like I'm not going to get the sceptilite.

MBlaziken can be a bit of a gamble... I rarely get the "sweep" effect with it.

But... I just used it, and got around 66k, so that's perfect.

I really want M-Sceptile... But I don't have M-Blaziken so I guess I need to get my hands on M-Ray. That could take me a while though

Would Noivern be effective on M-Scept since it has Cloud Clear++?
