The 3DS still has good visuals and screen resolution. It's 240p in 2D, and 480p in 3D. The PS Vita is 540p, and restricted to 2D. It really depends. I like the 3D on at all times, so I'm not losing any/much clarity in comparison to anything, besides non-gaming devices. Smartphones and tablets would beat the 3DS or Vita in terms of visual clarity, hands down, but the graphics on said devices don't exactly need to be any higher than what the 3DS or Vita offer, so the same applies from PS Vita to 3DS, especially considering that the difference is even smaller between the 2 than the former.
@SCAR392: it's not really 480p... it's basically the equivalent of one 240p screen for each eye. Thus they get merged together and what you see is still 240p resolution - but in 3D.

It's still 480p, based on the end result. If PS Vita had 3D, as is, it would be 540p. You need twice as many pixels to get that 3D effect.
If you look at how passive 3D TVs w/ glasses work, it cuts the resolution in half for 3D. In this case(the 3DS), they only allow you to see the higher pixel count separately through both your eyes. You wouldn't be seeing that 3D effect unless it had 480p resolution, which it does, just only in 3D.

Thats not how resolution works.
It's how you use the resolution. Nintendo only allows a 480p image to be shown in 3D. You're eyes are focusing on 2 240p images. When you put that together, it's 480p. The only thing Nintendo didn't do is allow the graphics to be shown in 480p in 2D, but the pixel count is still the same, besides the screen being a different format than 16:9.
The 3DS and Vita both have bragging rights. I think they are both pretty great handhelds. A person should own BOTH of them if they could afford it. HOWEVER... It is pretty freaking obvious which handheld Japan loves more(overall)... Japan controls the handheld market. And that wasn't a shot to the Vita. Its just obvious that Japan loves the 3DS for many reasons.
Vita has stronger indie support and is a much better multimedia device. It is also more customizable. But the 3DS has a far stronger retail library and solid third party support from Japanese developers.
Doesn't sound too far-fetched... I'm hoping for something really innovative, too. like how the 3D was innovative when the 3DS came out - I'm interested to see what they'll come up with next!
i love my 3ds i bought it cause of the software and the vita might be good in somethings it cant be better than the 3ds software we can all agree to that right. and maybe in the future the new ds from nintendo is going to be called the hds with all the things from vita but with better software, and for once you can play zelda in hd and on the go woah that blew my mind.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Well we had 3D without glasses, maybe 5.1 surround sound without headphones or a built in projector who knows shrugs

mmm no. We can already see from this thread alone that some people prefer the Vita's library over the 3ds'.
Yup. Not everybody's a fan of Nintendo~
I'd be playing the Vita, too if
1) I had the money and
2) There weren't still so many Nintendo games for me to focus on.
