That transfer guide video didn't really help me much. First of all, I'm not planning on using a PC to transfer anything as I'll be at Gamestop doing the transfer. Second, they didn't really explain some of it. It just left me with more questions. Using a PC isn't necessary right? The Wireless transfer option seems like what I need, but then there's all the talk of removing the SD/micro SD card. Why should I have to remove it if it's being transferred to the new system? Or am I missing something here?
Also, I'm assuming Gamestop has the #0 screwdriver that is needed? I would think they do since they probably have to take things apart and whatnot. I just hope the process I have planned will work.
If you're going to transfer at GameStop, you need to make sure that there is an Internet connection. Also, if you're going to transfer wirelessly, it's going to take a long, long time to do. What SD card are you currently using in your 3DS?
I'm using the standard 4gb one that came with the system. The wireless method is exactly what I need, so I hope everything goes smoothly. Is how long it takes based solely on the games you've downloaded? I only have one retail game downloaded (Animal Crossing: New Leaf), about 9 or 10 VC games, and a few demos. In addition to other data how long would this take? As for an internet connection, the Gamestop I was going to is in a mall, and I'm pretty sure at least one store in there has WiFi. The staff at said Gamestop is awesome, and they already told me I could do whatever is necessary for the transfer.
Ok, you'll be fine. You won't need to open up your New 3DS. However, Nintendo says that the wireless transfer option can take up to two hours to complete (for a 4 GB card) because you're at the mercy of the 3DS's super slow transfer rate.
Well, I will actually need to open it up. I have a blank 16gb micro SD that I bought for use in my New 3DS. I was planning on simply inserting it into the system before even starting the transfer so that everything was put onto it right away. Anything wrong with this? I mean, there shouldn't be as far as I can tell. It just transfers everything to the 16gb one like normal, and then I have a 4gb one it came with to use for something else. If it speeds the process up, I could transfer everything to the new microSD right now and simply use that one in my current system until Friday when I will swap it out into the new system.
If you could, I would recommend transferring everything to your new microSD card now. That way you only have to transfer a small amount of data and then move your microSD card from your old 3DS to your New 3DS. Otherwise, you have to go through the slow wireless transfer option, which will eat up a lot of your time.

@MegaStoneSmash91 You had the same idea I did. Listen to @brewsky. It'll save you a ton of time as everything will already be on the microSD and the only thing you'd be transferring is the licenses.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I've watched this video at least 5 times now. Soo I'll hit low capacity micro sd card option when tranfering data?
Thank's in advance!
Happy Gaming! (^_^)
If that's what you want, then yes. That option will transfer your licenses, NNID, friend code, and all the save data for your games. The games themselves will not transfer and you will have to redownload. But your save data stays, so you can continue where you left off when you redownload.

If you copy the Nintendo 3DS folder to a new micro SD using a PC, do you have to say that you are using a micro SD on the source system (micro SD in a adapter)? I don't get that right.
I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

If you transfer your data to a microSD card BEFORE you begin the transfer, then you will say that you will be using a microSD card on the source system. If you are transferring your data from your old card to your microSD DURING the transfer, then you do not choose that option.

I have a 32GB SD in my 3DS XL and I have a new 32GB micro SD and I don't have the console yet. I'd like to copy the files now using a PC, because I buy the 3DS games in digital form so there's many GBs to copy. So should I say that I am using a micro SD+adapter on the source system to make the systems think it's the same card although it's actually a clon?

What I would do is go ahead and copy your files to your new microSD, and put it in your current 3DS. That'll shorten the process, so all you have to do is complete the system transfer and then remove your card from your old 3DS and put in your New 3DS.

I don't have a microSD adapter, I am using a camera plugged to the computer for that purpose. That's why I can't do what you are saying. I am already copying the files to the new microSD, do you think there will be issues if I put this microSD in the New Nintendo 3DS once I have it and make the transfer?

Sounds like I'll be transferring to my new micro SD right now. It seems like a better and faster way to do it than with the wireless transfer. The system transfer process even accounts for that, right? I'll still need to open the battery cover, but hopefully the transfer itself will go much more smoothly.

Eh...I would just say you are using a normal SD card. I think the only difference is that it will prompt you to remove the SD card and transfer the files using a computer. I wouldn't try to "confuse" or "trick" the system. Just do it normal.

But if I say it's a normal SD, sdo you think that the systems will try to copy 20 GBs of games wirelessly? It could take days. :S :S Why has Nintendo to make this so difficult?

No, it won't. The system will let you choose to either do it wirelessly, or to use a computer. Just choose the computer option.
