So I get to skip some parts because I'm already using a micro SD card in my current 3DS.

You can transfer using a Mac as long as you have a compatible SD card reader plugged in through USB. Or depending on your model, it will already be built in.

That transfer guide video didn't really help me much. First of all, I'm not planning on using a PC to transfer anything as I'll be at Gamestop doing the transfer. Second, they didn't really explain some of it. It just left me with more questions. Using a PC isn't necessary right? The Wireless transfer option seems like what I need, but then there's all the talk of removing the SD/micro SD card. Why should I have to remove it if it's being transferred to the new system? Or am I missing something here?
Also, I'm assuming Gamestop has the #0 screwdriver that is needed? I would think they do since they probably have to take things apart and whatnot. I just hope the process I have planned will work.
I'm confused here. Why is it that after the transfer, you have to like remove the SD and Micro SDHC cards to copy the data and then put them back in? Is this the only way to transfer and how is this transfer any better than the wireless one?
@MegaStoneSmash91 you really don't need that screwdriver only to unscrew it. Just use some glasses screwdriver to unscrew them. Worked for me for my DS, 3DS and 3DS XL as well so really not a problem.

Unless you're using Wireless transfer it doesn't actually move everything over to the new micro SD, rather only the system memory stuff such as preinstalled software and licenses are transferred while all the data on the SD card stays on the original SD card.
I'll give my standard 3DS to Smash Bros 3DS XL transfer as an example:
My standard 3DS had a 32 GB SD card
Smash Bros 3DS XL had the default 4 GB SD card with the game preinstalled
I did the system transfer with letting the data on the Smash Bros 3DS XL be deleted. Once complete, I put my 32 GB SD card into the Smash Bros 3DS XL and everything that was on my standard 3DS was playable. Finally, I went onto the eshop to download Smash Bros for free.
For the New 3DS transfer it's exactly the same if you already have a micro SD card (the final step present only if you got the Majora's Mask or Monster Hunter special editions), however if you have a standard SD card in the source console then you'll have to either use:
Wireless transfer which directly transfers everything to the micro SD card
Low Capacity micro SD card transfer which transfers the system memory and license content (have to redownload games)
PC transfer in which you have to copy the 3DS folder onto your PC, paste it onto your micro SD card and then put it back into the New 3DS
The reason the process is more complex is simply because SD cards don't fit into micro SD card slots.
My time machine idea was a bust so I'm attempting to go into hypersleep until launch instead
If you're attempting to build a time machine, build a dimensional portal machine instead so we can enter the anime world. lol
I repeat, you need a girlfriend.
Yup, a girlfriend.....in the anime world.
Cosplayers will have to do for now.
Cosplayers scare me...lol
Anyways my SD card is supposed to be here...but haven't gotten any mail at all today or last Satuday...WTF? Amazon's tracking is messed up. T.T
There are dozens of cute girls that show up at these anime conventions, and most importantly they're into fun stuff! Anime, videogames, movies, whatever ect. They're an insta' win with me hehe. Beats hanging out with another materialistic, superficial, phony, cell phone worshiping, reality tv obsessed, boring shopping freak.
I'm sure the guy who married his DS agrees with you. I wonder if he charges his wife at night or closes it and puts her in sleep mode.

If you're going to transfer at GameStop, you need to make sure that there is an Internet connection. Also, if you're going to transfer wirelessly, it's going to take a long, long time to do. What SD card are you currently using in your 3DS?

I'm using the standard 4gb one that came with the system. The wireless method is exactly what I need, so I hope everything goes smoothly. Is how long it takes based solely on the games you've downloaded? I only have one retail game downloaded (Animal Crossing: New Leaf), about 9 or 10 VC games, and a few demos. In addition to other data how long would this take? As for an internet connection, the Gamestop I was going to is in a mall, and I'm pretty sure at least one store in there has WiFi. The staff at said Gamestop is awesome, and they already told me I could do whatever is necessary for the transfer.

It's a body pillow with an anime girl on it. Gaijin Goomba on youtube goes into disturbing detail on the SAD state of men in Japan. Not all of them are like that but still....just sad.

Ok, you'll be fine. You won't need to open up your New 3DS. However, Nintendo says that the wireless transfer option can take up to two hours to complete (for a 4 GB card) because you're at the mercy of the 3DS's super slow transfer rate.

Is the memory card that comes with the New 3ds Xl bigger than the memory card that came with the Original 3ds?
The New 3DS comes with a 4 GB card. The original 3DS came with a 2 GB card, and the 3DS XL and the 2DS came with a 4 GB card.
