It looks awesome, and immensely more appealing to me than the main series. I'll certainly consider getting it, but a Wii U version would make it a day-one buy for me.
If MH4U isn't coming to Wii U then this certainly isn't...
I wouldn't rule it out just yet. Tri did OK-not-terrible on Wii and 4U is the most successful MH to date in the West. Capcom most likely has it under consideration.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

If and when MH4U comes to Wii U, and I'd love it to, Stories probably still won't.
Some footage and images are also coming from the Hunter's Gathering in Japan:
It looks to have a mix of new, but mostly returning content. A new town, new areas, 4 different weapon 'styles', and 5+ new monsters.
The focus, though, seems to be on some flashy, and I mean cover-the-screen flashy, new weapon 'styles.' Apparently there's 4 different styles and, as far as I understand it, you can match any of them with any of the 14 weapons. They'll change the effect of special attacks (whether that's the current big attacks is anyone's guess, as they look quite different) as well as altering others. For instance, the trailer shows the bow with what looks like some sort of raining AoE heal.
Here's what I've gleaned: Areas: Everything from 4U, a new jungle area with mountains in the skybox (possible 2 different areas), a jungle by the ocean shore, an returning grassy hilly area, an icy area (possibly the tundra from 3), and the misty peaks from 3. Towns: Kotoko Village (MH1), Pokke Village (MH2), Yukumo Vilalge (Portable 3rd), and a new mountain town with airships that's original to Cross. Weapon Styles: Hard to tell, but I can pick out one wind-related style that adds a jump-dash move and one that looks red and seems to focus on damage and/or buffs. Monsters: 4 main monsters. A fire-spitting, blade-tailed T-rex brute wyvern, a huge mammoth (I can't tell if it's a full boss), a glowing green and black flying wyvern, and a frilly fish dragon monster that knows only 4 attacks; bubblebeam, bubblebeam, bubble, and bubblebeam (no underwater gameplay was shown.) There's also some new dinosaur-looking smaller monsters. Also, there's a smaller kangaroo beast that looks like it could be an easier boss monster.
Looks like a lot of MHFU areas are returning and even the village itself! MHFU was my first game in the series so I'm kind of foaming in the mouth with nostalgia at the moment...
Also, unless my eyes are deceiving me, the snowy mountain area from MHFU is also back. I could be wrong though, it just seemed that way from a few 1 second glimpses.
I actually was a bit disappointed. I was expecting it to be a new Edition with a different gimmick to how you approach movement, like going from Monster Hunter 2 to 3 to 4. But this just an expansion of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate/G. Can't say I'm that excited just yet. It probably won't come out so soon in America, though, anyways, so I'll have plenty of time.
Thread title is a little weird considering this thread was for Monster Hunter Stories. Why not just make a new thread?
Because now we can continue to pretend Monster Hunter Stories doesn't actually exist.
...I actually want to see more of that game, so...yeah. >.>
Anyways really hoping we don't have to wait more than a year to get the next Monster Hunter game.

Hm, I wonder if there is new voices to choose from
(yes, I know that is the last thing on everyone's mind and if we were having a real conversation, yall would give me a glance before ignoring me, but having an epic voice can make an epic hunter) U_U
These hunters are really starting to look badass with their fancy movements. Before we know it, our beloved hunters will be running on walls and ceilings by monster hunter 7...
In all seriousness though, I'm waiting to see rather or not they introduce new weapons. I hope at least one of them will be something simple. As cool as it is, all this flipping, blasting, switching, and flash mobbing is starting to look a bit technical to me...
What would a modern or future version of MH look like anyway...?

This doesn't strike me as something that'll get a G version, but rather that it already is a Gish version of the past several games. I think it's only the numbered releases that see a full rerelease.
