She took it directly to that science facility. That leaves little time for Metroid-Amie.

Me after playing Am2R earlier this year: "One of the reasons I'm glad this exists is because it updates the other outdated Metroid title, and one I can't see Nintendo themselves going out of their way to remake."
Though this will probably be better than LoS at least, since it looks like a Metroid game instead of a mediocre version of whatever 3D action game was considered cool at the time.
Very happy about this, but I'm also one of the people slightly concerned about Mercury Steam's involvement. Samus' animations look a bit janky here and there, and at times it feels like the backgrounds kinda clash with the rest of the game. I heard Magmoore Caverns' theme at a lava section during the Treehouse, and I really hope they don't reuse too much Prime music. The series needs less recycling in that regard.
Aesthetics aside, it's nice to see they're willing to change the game significantly. Metroid II doesn't have the best map design in the series, so I hope they mix it up heavily. The presence of warp points seems to imply otherwise, though. They wouldn't need them if they remade the map to interconnect its areas more naturally.
People are inevitably going to compare this game to AM2R, and that's a tough act to follow.

I'm 100% sure it's the Lower Norfair theme. It was the Prime version, which was used in Magmoor Caverns, but it's Lower Norfair.
Yeah yeah, nitpicky. I know....

@DarthNocturnal Alright, if they're the same they're the same.
The point was, I don't want a new game —even if it's a remake— to sound exactly like another game in the series. Metroid and Super having similar themes makes sense since both take place in Zebes, but SR388 is its own thing (that goes for Tallon IV as well). Give us new compositions, that's all.
Septermber 15 can't come soon enough. The only aspect that worries me is that this game doesn't seem to have the charm on the enviroments that other entries had, but then again the original return of Samus wasn't good in that regard. The gameplay looks relly fun and in the end, that's all that matters to me.
Edit: Nah, I just saw the treehouse gameplay video and it looks amazing in every way. A bit weird to have that Norfair remix theme though, since this isn't Zebes.
@roy130390 People have said the trailer looks better in 3D. If it doesn't affect the gameplay, this might be the first game I play with 3D on since... ALBW?
@meleebrawler Non-stackable beams were one of the best things Prime brought to the table gameplay-wise, if you ask me. Was that shown in the Treehouse segment?
@MarcelRguez 3D is a mechanic that I tend to forget in most games to be honest, but I believe I can see how it can enhance the visuals considerably with this game, considering that they seemed to give prority to make the backgrounds with different levels of deepness. For some reason Shinobi 3 came to my mind when I tried to imagine how could it look with the 3D effect.
@MarcelRguez It was certainly a good way to help encourage different approaches to fights. Although Prime 1 was a bit too on the nose with it at various points (this enemy is yellow, so use the yellow beam to damage it, derp). 2 did it best with ammo management, punishing excessive use of a given tactic, especially with the Annihilator Beam.
Three main elements of beam were mentioned (fire, ice and electric), and the... Gamma, was it? Metroid couldn't be damaged at all until Samus switched to the Ice Beam. I also noticed a purple Spazer/Wide beam.
@roy130390 Lol, I meant to say the framerate, not gameplay. But yeah, to what degree the backgrounds pop out can enhance the aesthetics greatly. Just lock the framerate down, the N3DS shouldn't struggle with 3D in O3DS-compatible games.
@meleebrawler I still have to watch that, thanks for the heads-up. Will do it now.
