because we've got a sudden influx of players in the NL communities...

PLEASE LISTEN UP! BASIC ETIQUETTE!

When joining a community, DON'T immediately start the raceespecially if people are sending the 'Let's wait for more players' message. Remember, the more people you're racing with, the more fun you'll have! It'll autostart on its own in a minute or two, so please have the courtesy to wait for others!

Also, anyone caught using either of the Wuhu glitches to get a cheap win in the Nintendo Life communities WILL be publicly named and shamed. No one wants to race with a cheater, so just enjoy the tracks for what they are — they're great when everyone plays fairly!

I don't know who Navi was or why they only stuck around the second time I found them online but, however they were they beat me badly.

I left, because I don't want to play with only 2 other people.

I joined again, decided to race, and, as the Nekkid King of Australia, I beat you.

I had no idea that local multiplayer allowed for a VS with customization options such as Bob-ombs only, Mushrooms only, Shells only, etc like the online communities do. I think this is my favorite Mario Kart.

Adding to dragons message, if you are in the chat room, and you can see that people are trying to join, don't press let's start the game straight away!! It's outright selfish.

I would never glitch against human opponents, but to help unlock the characters, what exactly are these Wuhu glitches?

Hah. I tried going online as soon as I got the game, and the drifting threw me for a loop. I was used to Ye Olden Wiggle Fest type drifting from previous Mario Karts.

It's the same way in Mario Kart Wii.

@Zephren Thanks for the info! BTW, I've been using Soda Jet, wood wheels and Paraglider lately with Lakitu (my fav character) because it gives me nearly unbeatable acceleration and decent handling+offroad. Is this combination any good? Does it get good mini-turbos? Also does Lakitu have good (hidden) stats? I might start using Koopa Clown again, I used it before but kind of stepped away from it because its stats didn't look so good on paper. Thanks again for the tips!
@Avery Regarding red shells, I was talking about GP and VS races only not battle mode, I know red shells work differently in Battle Mode. But alright, then change "always" in my comment to "almost always". Also, in the normal circumstances of racing, two players will not be directly facing each other on the same part of the track. Even when I'm drifting around a really tight corner, I have yet to be hit by a single red shell while dragging an item behind my kart. My point was that red shells don't just go directly in a straight line towards you; they have a tendency to hit you towards the back of your kart which explaIns how I avoided the shell by drifting close to the opposite wall from the corner.
I never said I was prioritizing weight; I always put acceleration far, far ahead of weight. I was just tired of always getting pushed off by heavier karts (I pay the cost of very low weight for my superb acceleration) at the beginning of narrow, wall-less tracks like Rainbow Road and especially Rosalina's Ice World and I was wondering if I could keep my good acceleration but get slightly better weight (of course at the expense of some other stat.) Thanks for the info regarding the hidden stats though!

Sorry, I'll get back to you. I'm trying to figure out how to get the 2 available charts to correspond. They do say that all characters in the same weight class have the same stats (visible and hidden), though.

EDIT: The combination you have listed only gets 5.5 out of a possible 11.5 points for mini-turbos. The wooden wheels in particular add absolutely nothing to mini-turbos. The Koopa Clown would add 2 points to the mini-turbos (and add to handling) but at the cost of land and air speed, acceleration, and drifting.

If you use Lakitu with the Barrel Train, Standard Wheels, and your choice of weightless glider, you'll have a weight of 3.5, an acceleration of 4.25, and 9.5/11.5 for mini-turbos.

Oh, this is game is so addictive. And unlocking new parts with the coins you collected gives you extra motivation to get those.

@RYBlast: hit up or down on the d-pad to switch from third to first-person mode. If you have gyro controls enabled (i think it's part of the basic game setup, or it might've been part of the MK Channel setup, i don't quite remember), you can use them in first-person mode only.

Oh, Have people finally returned to the NL community? I'll check it out if they have. Only lost twice in the NL communtiy against BenAV, not because I'm good at the game, but my other hundred or so matches were pretty much all against this one incredibly awful guy. I'd like to try racing some other people though, so I'll get over to the communities now!

Got this for Christmas and am loving it so far. The 3D works so well that I would actually say that this is one of the nicest looking games I have ever seen. Anyone else agree?

If you thought Mario Kart 7 was beautiful wait until you see Ocarina of Time.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

In my humble opinion, I think that Ocarina of Time is a marvelous game but the 3D effect wasn't so strong or as good as I thought it would be. Hopefully it will come through a LOT better in Kid Icarus Uprising. So far for me the 3D effect works a lot better in Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land; what I'm trying to say is the 3D literally jumps out and grabs me unlike in Ocarina of Time.
