Topic: Mario kart 7 Discussion

So I've bought the game and I'm loving the flying glider feature. The game overall is totally awesome. I don't know if it's just me or my imagination or something else but this game is like a thousand times better in every way than the Wii version. I think Mario Kart 7 is the best that I have played since Mario Kart Double Dash.

I'm liking this game. I'm probably going to 3 star every cup on every difficulty first. And do all the Time Trials.

Someone uploaded the stats from the FAQ to GameFAQs. I'm writing an item usage guide I'll be putting up there too. It is arguable whether or not the hidden stats have too much of an effect. The effect is pretty small, so they can be mostly ignored unless too parts are similar to each other. Also, I have yet to see anyone hack. 99% of the time someone says a player is hacking, it's just lag. Really bad lag. Whenever a player falls off the edge and is warped back on track, it's lag. If a player that was a few places behind you got first, it's probably lag. If a shell goes through you or bounces off, it's also lag. A prime example is when someone with a Star smacks right into you, but you only get nudged instead of blow away.

Game is great. Have three stars now on everything, and it feels a lot more balanced than previous Mario Karts. The Red Shell got an insane boost, though. Much better tracking than before, and they fly.

@NeonShell Red Shells prefer to hit the back, but if you aim them just right they will hit the front or side. I've hit many, many opponents from the front and side before with Red Shells. Generally because it ignores what items they are trailing. If you shoot a Red Shell dead on at someone facing you, it should bypass their Bananas and other items. Also, why would you want a Kart with high Accel and Weight? Weight should be the very last stat you prioritize.

Hah. I tried going online as soon as I got the game, and the drifting threw me for a loop. I was used to Ye Olden Wiggle Fest type drifting from previous Mario Karts. Plus, I didn't have any parts unlocked to use. It's best to play at least through 50cc first, imo. Get one star in all the 50cc cups (or any cup, but 50cc is easiest), and you can use your Mii online, too.

@Zephren Thanks for the info! BTW, I've been using Soda Jet, wood wheels and Paraglider lately with Lakitu (my fav character) because it gives me nearly unbeatable acceleration and decent handling+offroad. Is this combination any good? Does it get good mini-turbos? Also does Lakitu have good (hidden) stats? I might start using Koopa Clown again, I used it before but kind of stepped away from it because its stats didn't look so good on paper. Thanks again for the tips!
@Avery Regarding red shells, I was talking about GP and VS races only not battle mode, I know red shells work differently in Battle Mode. But alright, then change "always" in my comment to "almost always". Also, in the normal circumstances of racing, two players will not be directly facing each other on the same part of the track. Even when I'm drifting around a really tight corner, I have yet to be hit by a single red shell while dragging an item behind my kart. My point was that red shells don't just go directly in a straight line towards you; they have a tendency to hit you towards the back of your kart which explaIns how I avoided the shell by drifting close to the opposite wall from the corner.
I never said I was prioritizing weight; I always put acceleration far, far ahead of weight. I was just tired of always getting pushed off by heavier karts (I pay the cost of very low weight for my superb acceleration) at the beginning of narrow, wall-less tracks like Rainbow Road and especially Rosalina's Ice World and I was wondering if I could keep my good acceleration but get slightly better weight (of course at the expense of some other stat.) Thanks for the info regarding the hidden stats though!

Always coming in 2nd place and 1st a few times. Kinda made people go away though.. Some group with an AR tag in their name, VR from 4000 to 10000... They must have felt embarassed considering they kept ramming into me, or taking aim...

Yup I got an error too. It's probably because of the sudden boost in traffic from all the people who just got the game for Christmas.

Sorry if I came off badly. Not trying to be critical or anything, just wanted to make sure you knew that it is possible to hit the front/sides. I've hit the sides in normal races a few times, but it seems most people haven't. I'll glance at the stats chat and see if there's anything I can come up with that has good Weight and Accel quickly later. Seems most of the time they are opposites. For instance, there are two types of Gliders stat wise. One has higher Accel and lower Weight, other is higher Weight and lower Accel. :/

How can I install the Mario Kart Channel and where to locate the Communities?

On second thought, now that I see all those hidden stats on one page, it's obvious why they aren't shown in game. It would be overwhelming. I plan on printing it out to have it with me when I play, though.

It installs automatically to your SD card. And you have to type in the communities yourself. NL just posted it's digits. Knock yourself out.
