First 3DSWare impressions, anyone? It's from Gameloft.. not my most favorite, but I bought it anyway. I like a good sports game. Let's Golf 3D is priced for $6.99 / £5.40 / €6.00 and is also worth 1526 blocks of space, that might give you an idea for upcoming 3DSWare applications having a big (but reasonable) file size. I don't think they've added much 3D effect in the game, but it's surely a nice one to complete with some fun challenges and achievements to unlock. You can also try and level all of your characters up to the max to be the most pro in this golf game. It's very simple for a price like that, but it's very fitting for what it includes along some relaxing gameplay and hot-seat multiplayer mode.

The controls can use either the touchscreen, where most buttons are displayed, and a rather cheap background of Let's Golf. It would have been nice to see the angle of where the ball would fly on the touch screen itself, but I guess it's just all for the commands. You can use the regular buttons, too, for each command displayed on the touch screen.

I haven't unlocked much yet, but the instruction manual said it includes atleast 30 courses to play on. I think they look plain now, but I'm guessing more interacting animals blocking the way on the field and some better envoriment would come later, right?

Well, so far, I think this game is a decent application fit for it's price.
It's great to see our first 3DSWare, and I never felt that succes before when buying a DSiWare.
Most likely because these applications will feature some better quality.

Wow! ... I'm actually glad to see a file size that huge after having to go through the Wii Shop Channels ridiculous file size limit.
I think I might actually get this when the eShop updates.

I'm not the biggest golf game fanatic in the world, but I'm considering this one. If I see good reviews here and at IGN, I might just get it.

The game looks nice and runs well and the gameplay is simple but it's fun. It was a good purchase and it's actually cheaper in Europe than in the US!

I got it and am really enjoying it so far. It could run just a tad smoother and the gameplay isn't perfect but this one wins my vote based on all the content here. From what I can see so far, career mode features 6 different courses consisting of 18 holes each. Each course also contains 7 tournaments of sorts such as random 9 holes, front 9, back 9, etc... where you compete against other computer players in an attempt to get a gold medal. More gold medals unlock more courses, equipment, accessories, etc. Then there are the challenges. There are 4 types of challenges with 5 levels of each. I've only played the one where you have 1 shot and 15 seconds to sink a putt. Lastly there are many different achievement-esque things to obtain for various things like unlocking all characters or getting a hole in one (Which I actually got!!). That's a lot of meat for 7 bucks in my book so I'm definitely happy with my purchase. I was hesitant since its, ya know, Gameloft but they actually did a good job! Oh, and the 3D isn't half bad. It isn't amazing, but its nice.

It sounds a lot like Hot Shots Golf.

Pocket Gamer gave it a 7 (their Bronze Award), saying that it was a good game but that it had some serious lag issues. Then again, Pocket Gamer's staff has been spoiled by the iPhone experience. I'm used to Android ports of iPhone games that almost inevitably don't run quite as well. Still, Gameloft needs to learn better optimization techniques. I remember reading the review of Backstab for Xperia Play, designed with the Xperia Play in mind, and it had lag and framerate issues.

I'm still very much considering this, as I would love some simple games for a quick break when I'm lost in the Water Temple or am still missing 5 lums from a level of Rayman 3D and can't figure out where they are.

I might download it but does anyone know how many blocks of memory it takes up (I want to save my memory for those 20 free games...)?

1526 blocks as MaxiMillionG said. It's a pretty big download.

I downloaded it and I was pleasantly surprised! It's more than just a minigame, it actually has a base structure and is quite good. For the price tag and memory used, maybe it isn't worth it, but it's still quite fun. I'd give it a 7.

It looks like I might give this a download. I need to get a bigger SD card first.

I also downloaded this and It's great so far. The career will last, I put 10 hours into it already and only about 15% through. Also a lot of other modes to play on as well. Some things, however, I don't like about it is that the 3D Effect seems really 'sloppy'. When your taking the swing it looks good, but putting, and when ever it displays "Birdie" or "Eagle" sometimes it will go into the holes flag and hurt your eyes, forcing myself to turn the 3D off. Other than that, the game is great and worth getting.

In terms of memory I figured this much out from the game.
Let's Golf 3D says it takes up 1520 blocks.
I looked on the SD card and it's total size is 193,819Kb.
That would make 1 block is around 127.5Kb of data.

I will note, that DSiWare can only be played from the system, and that the onboard memory is partitioned in a way that there is only around 1061 blocks for DSiWare, or around 200MB of data.
Don't know what the rest of the data is for since 3DSWare, photos, and audio is all saved to the SD card.
Since 3DSWare is loaded from the SD card, that means memory won't be a problem for those games, which is good cause the video app extra data alone takes up 2,439 blocks, around 310MB.

So I guess technically DSiWare is still restricted to being around 16MB in size, but 3DS can obviously be MUCH larger since it's loaded from the SD card. That also means the stupid issues the DSi and Wii had with running out of space with horrible on board memory won't be that big of an issue.

I don't know if the Virtual Console games that people will be getting will be restricted to on board or SD memory.

Lots of loading in between holes, extremely sluggish framerate, and a fairly archaic control system. Decent golf game, but nothing special at all. I can't imagine this getting a 9 anywhere, especially at IGN. WOW.

I'm guess it's compressed a lot since I think the IOS version is over 300Mb once installed.

The reviews are much higher then I thought, I might pick this up.

It's honestly well worth the money. I wasn't sure either but it has a lot of modes local multiplayer and it will last you awhile. Just make sure you are into golf then your fine. There are a lot of loading screens but they are fairly quick and not that bad. When you face an opponent and they show the opponent that is where most of the lag comes from but it.s not to bad. I think if you like a fun golf game it is for you.

Lastly it's a great start to 3dsware.

Pretty much, the game is a decent time waster and looks pretty nice but has stability problems. Definitely not a nine.
