I found the game to look very psychopathicly cheesy.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

In terms of memory I figured this much out from the game.
Let's Golf 3D says it takes up 1520 blocks.
I looked on the SD card and it's total size is 193,819Kb.
That would make 1 block is around 127.5Kb of data.

I will note, that DSiWare can only be played from the system, and that the onboard memory is partitioned in a way that there is only around 1061 blocks for DSiWare, or around 200MB of data.
Don't know what the rest of the data is for since 3DSWare, photos, and audio is all saved to the SD card.
Since 3DSWare is loaded from the SD card, that means memory won't be a problem for those games, which is good cause the video app extra data alone takes up 2,439 blocks, around 310MB.

So I guess technically DSiWare is still restricted to being around 16MB in size, but 3DS can obviously be MUCH larger since it's loaded from the SD card. That also means the stupid issues the DSi and Wii had with running out of space with horrible on board memory won't be that big of an issue.

I don't know if the Virtual Console games that people will be getting will be restricted to on board or SD memory.

You know, I thought of that some time. They could actually manage putting full DS games online to buy. Wouldn't take more space than Nintendo Video's extra data. But I'm sure they aren't going to do something like that.. anytime. Let's first see how much space the promised Demos later this year would take in our system.

Lots of loading in between holes, extremely sluggish framerate, and a fairly archaic control system. Decent golf game, but nothing special at all. I can't imagine this getting a 9 anywhere, especially at IGN. WOW.

That and the fact that despite being a "3D" game, the backgrounds and many of the animals that run around the course are flat, pixelated 2D sprites. It's a horrifically ugly effect (although the courses themselves are decent, and the 3D effect itself is resonable, even though it's clearly a 2D game that's been put through the artifical 3D processor).

Depending on how lenient you are with Gameloft's inability to have a single original idea, or execute those ideas with any kind of class or production values, this game sits between a 4/10 (what I gave it) and 6/10 (which I could understand, if not agree with).

There's nothing to recommend in this game over Nintendo's DSiWare "A Little Bit of Touch Golf" though.

I think I'll pass on this one. Not a big fan of golf games other than a couple of the Mario Golfs.

Does anyone know if there's any content differences between the 3DSWare version and the iOS (Lets Golf 2) version [besides the 3D on the 3DS]?

The other dsiware though is just a stripped somewhat version of the DS full card game is it not? I don't get ripping on this game for an archaic control scheme, it's the standard tap-tap-tap setup golf games use. The DS title with the drag and slide setup was a decent idea but it's harder to execute especially if you can't keep your hand still for the down swing. I imagine the loading issue is that it's a large game buffering the full course or something each time straight off a slower SD memory card. As for the rest, it's just sloppy gameloft behavior which is fairly standard for them. I don't think it's a 9 game either from videos and readings I've had, but a 7 to 7.5 would be fair, but there's enough gone wrong 8 would be stretching the truth.

Is Nintendo Life going to do a review of Let's Golf 2?

@Aenigma I think the 3DS version has a little better graphics, and 3D but that's about it. :3

@ToadFan Exactly what I was wondering, I've been waiting for ages on this review, but i see Corbs has posted on this forum and hasn't really given this game his full blessing so I think I'll pass up on this since I'm not the biggest golf fan and was just looking for a game to waste loads of time on, oh well Zenonia it is for me!

Actually, am I the only one to experience massive "lag" while playing some part of the game? Like, the screen turns white, the game freezes some random times, and then it just refreshes.

I get that to but it's not that bad. The only time I get lag is when they show the opponents turn. But it really isn't that bad it's still a fun game.

I'll never understand how people can forgive "sloppy Gameloft behavour." Any other publisher/ developer and the flaws in this game would score it 6/10 if not under. Somehow Gameloft gets away with it.

I'll wait for Mario Golf 3DS. Especially since handheld versions turn out to be an RPG Hybrid!

I think it would be smart if they did, since DS games were for the most part between 64 and 128MB. Many 16MB and a few 256-512MB. They could easily sell DS games online.
And it would be nice, but yeah, I don't expect Nintendo to be pushing online content properly. I still have zero faith in them doing online remotely well.

Back to this golf game, it's just a direct port of the IOS game, so all graphical limitations of the IOS game are in here, but 3D. The courses could've easily looked better on the 3DS, but we all know Gameloft is lazy when it comes to porting.

I'm going to throw my 2 cents in here!

Yes its everything that Corbie said. Frame rate issues choppy animation 2 d sprite animals. Really do we need animals. I also think the spins are way over exaggerated. Top spin sends you ball flying another 30 to 50 yards. With all the flaws it has though I keep coming back to it again and again. It is a fun little ride and I can't stop till I get to the next hole. Load times are a little on the long side as well. I would give it a 7 just for the fun challenges. I've seen better and gameloft did scare me a bit here but its definitely one of the few games I've enjoyed from them. 3d is a joke in this game as well.

Sorry to be a real NOOB about this game, but a bit of advice might help me get off on a proper start. Never played a Golf game before, and I know very little about the real thing.

I chose Jade as my avatar for my first session, did OK after I began to suss how the controls worked (just reading the manual didn't make a lot of sense to me) and quite enjoyed it, then the difficulty ramped up and I was presented with this huge lake I was expected to hit the ball over. It looked about half a mile across and I only ever got the ball half way across the water.

So I gave up on that and switched to Vincent to see how he would do there, as his skills indicated more power, but I was presented with a completely different set of courses for him, so I never found out whether he would have done better. Anyone else been in this situation so they could tell me how I might do better?
Thanks!

It all depends on if it a par 3 or more really. If its a par 3 then you should be able to get over it with anyone. If anything higher like par4 or 5 you need to find the best way around the water not over it. Look for the fairway in other direction. It should point you somewhat in the right direction.

@ Tech101 -
Thanks very much indeed. That's pretty obvious when I think about it now, but it just didn't occur to me until you said it!

I never said I forgave them, if I did that 7 would be most likely at least an 8.5 given what all is there. I'm just not as nasty about it in this game as it's not like it actually breaks anything, it's just mildly annoying with some lag. Gameloft on the whole sucks but at times they do score a decent hit with an alright title.

After playing it more, I can say that the 3D is okay, but it's flat out horrible during the putting scenes. The texture of the putting green looks like a magic eye in 3D and the character screws up the 3D being in the foreground.
